Book Phone Case – Value $29.00
A Harry Potter themed phone wallet is pretty cool. This one is inspired by the Advanced Potion Making book. The phone case is made from faux leather and is more like a phone wallet in that it opens with a magnetic snap closure and has slots for credit cards. The piece that fits around your phone is hard plastic and reminds me of my normal iPhone case. There are openings for your camera lens and volume buttons for easy accessibility.
This is a view of the case opened so you can see the slots inside. The phone case also comes with a cleaning cloth and protective film to apply to your screen.
This is the back view of the case lists some potions found inside the “book”.
Dragon Eggs, Mermaid Tears & Gilly Water – Value?
Let me start off by saying that these bottles are interesting looking with the handmade labels and splattered metallic paint on the outside. It gives them quite a magical appearance. That being said I don’t know what’s actually in any of the bottles (nowhere in the literature provided in the box was any information other than this should be mixed into bath water). The Dragon Eggs appeared to be salt or sugar, the Mermaid tears had a strong fragrance which reminded me of shampoo and the tiny bottle of Gilly Water had no discernible scent.
Polyjuice Potion Spoon – Value $2.00?
Polyjuice Potion allows a human drinker to temporarily assume the identity of another person. This is an advanced spell and must brew for one month. I’ll have to bring this spoon to my library. My students will get a kick out of it.
Verdict: I enjoyed my Once Upon a BookCase box this month. I’m a children’s librarian who loves all things books, so as soon as I found out about this subscription I had to give it a try. The phone cases are so unique and well-made. I think the value is fabulous too. I am having trouble coming up with a value this month due to the mysterious nature of the deconstructed bubble bath components, but the case itself sells for $29 so I always feel like this subscription is a deal with any added bookish extras being bonuses.
