The theme for the upcoming GlobeIn January 2017 Box is… Love!

unnamed

Dearest friends,

This is the love box. Love is a box. Love is a box you are holding, a box you are opening. Love is an opening, a holding, is you. Love is a piece of chocolate broken off, a pile of sand blown into glass. Love is a wine, a quiet toast.

Love is a thoughtfully set table, a word of affirmation whispered softly to the self. Love is a napkin on the lap. Love is a woven bowl ready to be filled. Love is already.

In Kenya, the Caribbean, Mexico, and India, love is global and local at once. Love is an always bazaar, handmade and open to all, touching down wherever you are.

Warmly,
Genna
Artisan Box Curator

Stuff happens. These spoilers are for the many long-term subscribers (who likely haven’t been commenting so as not to stir the cauldron of discontent) who will be receiving the box and those who watch to dream about future options. If you aren’t in one of these two groups, it might be advisable to simply delete the spoiler emails you’re so apalled to see… no one is punishing — especially in light of fact we ALL have the ability to avoid said punishment (spoilers). Seriously… as I’ve said before… it’s a temporary response to a less than ideal situation — which should hopefully “fix the problem.”

On to the spoilers… love the glasses, love the napkins… and I’m actually lovin’ the 4″ dish that some other subscribers are unmoved by. Looking forward to the opportunity to grab the little elephant one — it’s really adorable. ♡

Please. You’re clearly getting this box.
It’s easy to tell other people to chill out when it doesn’t apply to yourself.

Reply ButtonReply

DKT

Clearly huh? You may want to reconsider the power of your all-seeing eye. As for chilling… tell me, what exactly do histrionics achieve? This in an unfortunate turn of events for some subscribers – but in the big scheme of things, it’s hardly the end of the world.

Liza

Hello everyone,

Liza here with GlobeIn. I want to apologize again for not informing you about the sourcing changes earlier.

We are listening and we are trying to take your feedback into account as much as possible.

Please email me personally and I will try to find a solution that works for you: [email protected]

I waitlisted myself for this box and am now getting it. They are presumably releasing spoilers because they have always done so, not to torment anyone. And this box will probably be available next month so subscribers who are waiting will want to know if they should choose it, no?

Reply ButtonReply

meg

But they will release the contents of the entire box once it ships, no? At that point people can decide if they want to choose it for a future box. For that reason the “spoilers” seem like teasing, no?

Reply ButtonReply

Elle Em

How do you waitlist yourself? I logged in and didn’t see that option.

Also, I skipped January because Love wasn’t an option, but if I wanted to, does anyone know if/how I can go back in and un-skip? I wanted to review the alternatives again, but can’t do it now.

Reply ButtonReply

CB

It was an option on the page where I could change my theme. I would definitely email them and ask to choose after all – they’ve always been really nice and helpful when I have contacted them!

cmiller512

I also skipped January but emailed and they added me to the waitlist for this box!

Debra

This company is KILLING ME! I skipped January because I didn’t want a repeat box but now I think I am going to cancel altogether. I am completely APPALLED that they are continuing to release SPOILERS for a box THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE!! This is deception at its finest! I thought I liked what they stood for, but THIS is what they stand for: lying and deception. Unbelievable.

Reply ButtonReply

nelliebelle1197

Debra, why is that unfair? Many of us are getting the box and these spoilers are for us. I am pretty shocked at this reaction. Because you are annoyed by it, we can’t get the spoilers?

Reply ButtonReply

meg

I think the confusion is why a box needs to be spoiled for people already receiving it. In the sub box world spoilers are usually released 1 by 1 to pique people’s interest and get them to subscribe. It just seems strange…

Elaine

Haha I think you are getting a little worked up over a subscription box! Seriously. Skip it and get it when it is available. It’s annoying, yeah, but the histrionics of the subscribers are even more so. Some members are getting the box and they should be able to see spoilers for it if they want to, and others will know for future months if this is a box they would like.

It’s definitely a bad situation, but seems like they are doing what they can to rectify the issue going forward.

As for the box itself, love the glasses. The napkins are super pretty, though wish there was an option to purchase more as an add on. I agree with the previous commenter that I have no use for one tiny plate and this will likely get donated.

Reply ButtonReply

marie

She has the right to be upset that she’s not getting something that she ALREADY paid for. And we have NO reassurance that this situation is in any way rectified. The teacups from December haven’t been addressed, and I’m bracing myself for February or March when they announce that there will, in fact, be no more love boxes. And that “oops”, they don’t have enough of anything else for anyone else, either. They’ve been deceptive for several months running now.

meg

Tiny plate = ring plate, soap dish, catchall…get creative.

LB

Elaine – I agree. I’m hoping they might post the napkins as add-ons next month or later (assuming those aren’t the item currently in low inventory). I’m thinking they would want to prioritize their use in future boxes for everyone waitlisted or wanting the box and then sell off the rest. I’m assuming there would be even more outrage if they had the contents of the box available as add-ons when so many people are already upset they aren’t able to get the box immediately. 🙂 And if I’m lucky enough to get the dish with the elephant on it I’m sure I’ll find a way to use one tiny plate. It’s adorable!!!

Bridget

Veruca Salt comes to mind.

Elle Em

Okay, those plates are pretty darn adorable. But… yeah. Sigh.

I am saddened by these spoilers. I am sad at the lack of direction GlobeIn is taking. Not because I am not getting it. I cancelled last month due to other issues I was experiencing with the box (changing what I ordered etc). My issue is communication, or the lack of it and the lack of transparency. I am a business owner and I could not nor would try to do the following:
1. Push a product I don’t have
2. Switch a product that was ordered by a customer to one I “felt like sending”
3. Not communicated my changes, issues, new path ahead.
*I fully understand why they are showing it, it is a lovely box and will be available in a few months and they are trying to gain excitement (but failing). I like this box with the exception of a single plate (hot button for me. No one (i feel) wants a single tiny 4″ plate. Two beautiful glasses, 2 napkins and a set of 4 plates which this was -2 green and 2 geometric) would be perfect perhaps without a basket, or select two items with a basket like napkins and set of plates or wine glasses and set of napkins with basket. However 1 tiny 4″ plate doesn’t work for me personally or the Martha Stewart inside me).

People are upset about these spoilers I believe because GlobeIn’s new path was not communicated in a timely manner. Lack of marketing shows through when you don’t even TRY to get your customer base excited. When you have a set customer base by say October 15th (which is when you confirm counts for for your January box or perhaps slightly sooner such as October 1st – I know this as I also bring in inventory from other countries) You order enough plus a percentage of breakage and what if of 20% for your existing clients and if you plan on growing your base by 10% or 15%, you order enough to cover them plus the breakage estimate. Any new customers may have a shot at it, or have beautiful options that were previously available to other long term subbers, until they are members for a few months and caught into the pre- ordering process for future boxes. What is sad, it seems that many NEW December customers are getting this over long term subbers. So many long term subbers – well another box was simply selected for them, not the current box. When they marketed for new customers, they should have had a note letting people know that since they work with artisians and smaller batches, that they can pre sub / pre pay and get the box 2 months from now OR have the option to select from wonderful boxes available in our store or skip. Have and use a proper inventory. Allow people to order from your store -past boxes – and not just the three options when you are going in a new direction so these ones you feel like offering since they may have been purchased at a lower cost wholesale wise.
I like the path they are going (sort of Bespoke Post)-great idea to offer a few NEW box options BUT they FAILED to communicate this months ago which they should have when they prepared their business for this direction. Throwing this together at the last minute is what it seems like (even if they planned in advance) with the complete lack of communication destroys the faith and trust in a company. You ask for us to be loyal, however you destroyed our faith by not communicating, by changing our selections from what we ordered, to a different box without communicating. Hoping we “don’t notice” does not subscribe us to the loyalty of your brand. Not getting us excited in advance, does not allow for loyalty. Not communicating problems you were having until a ton of people email and complain, does not lend to loyalty. It seems that they are at a crossroads. I hope they take the correct path and start acting like the business that they wish to have loyalty from us as customers.

While I would certainly prefer this box over several of the past months (which I have skipped), I completely understand why they are doing this. This was GlobeIn’s email they sent out to current subscribers:

~~
I have an important update about your January Artisan Box theme choices and about the changes coming to the Artisan Box in 2017.

The demand for the Artisan Box has been growing. Every month YOU are employing hundreds of artisans all over the world and helping them create a better life for their families. Without you, GlobeIn would not exist and many artisans would not have access to fair wages and the global economy.

In 2016 we started reaching production capacity with many of our existing artisan groups in remote areas around the world. You might have noticed a few hiccups over the last few months: one product was delayed, another one had to be substituted at the last minute.

Moving forward, we have devised a new sourcing strategy for 2017 and beyond. Starting March 2017, we are planning on sourcing multiple Artisan Box themes each month rather than just one. This will enable us to place smaller, more manageable orders with more artisans, and ensure that all products arrive to you on time. This means more products, more options, more partnerships and more impact!

As the demand for the Artisan Box grows, we anticipate new themes to sell out. On our end, we promise that you will always have multiple theme options to choose from every month. If you do not like the themes offered, you always have the option to skip a month. We NEVER want you to receive something that you are not happy with.

[CONTINUE READING BELOW FOR THE JANUARY BOX UPDATE.]

January and February will be transitional months.
We have very short availability of the newly-curated themes for the next few months. A few important things that you need to know:

1) Not all current subscribers will be able to choose the newly-curated theme: we are prioritizing Artisan Box members that have previously received all of our themes. (We don’t want anyone to get a repeat box unless you want it!)

2) New subscribers will not receive the newly-curated themes in the next few months. Instead, you will get to choose from a variety of other exciting boxes.

***Please login to your subscription settings now to see what themes are available to you.***

3) If the newly-curated theme is not available, don’t worry! You will have a chance to get it in the future: we are creating a waitlist and will let you know as soon as it is in stock.

4) Remember, you can always skip a month if you are not happy with your current theme options!

You will receive a regular email about your January theme choices and add-ons on January 2nd.

We definitely welcome feedback to help us make a better experience for you – contact us at [email protected]. Thank you for supporting GlobeIn and joining us on this exciting journey.
P.S. Some of our members that follow subscription box review sites are wondering why we are still releasing spoilers for the January box even though we won’t have it available for all the current subscribers.

To explain, we are a very small startup and blogs are an effective and affordable way to reach new customers. By providing bloggers with new content to share (like spoilers), we maintain affordable pricing for our customers as well as fair wages for our artisans. We work with a tiny group of bloggers (that we really appreciate!) and any boxes we send them for review purposes do not impact the availability of boxes we have for our customers in any way.

Sincerely,

Liza Moiseeva

Globe-in is not new to the sub box world by any means and should know their customer’s needs. This is all marketing. supply and demand. if a box is harder to get people will want it even more.

Hildol

yes when they launch it correctly and hype up the want and communicate the new direction in advance and not when they get hit with tons of complaints. No, when its in spite of people. Taking for granted their customer base.

Globe In is being really tone deaf on this one. If MOST subscribers aren’t getting this box, you’re not making us happy by showing us what we’re NOT getting.

This must be their latest attempt to drum up subscribers. Make a limited amount of a really great box so people feel like they’re missing out. Then once subs are up go back to the usual ho-hum boxes that typically have but one great item.
