This candle box is celebrating the holidays with a Harry Potter theme!

The info card explains the concept behind the wax melts and candle. I like that they cover both the Yule Ball and Hogsmeade in fragrance form.

Fandle Candle Co. Yule Ball Candle (9 oz.)

The scent of this candle is sweet and buttery. It reminds me of what an old-fashioned chocolate shop or ice cream parlor might smell like.

As the site explains, this candle had a jewelry surprise buried inside. After about 3 nights of burning the candle, I finally pulled the foil-wrapped surprise out!

Fandle-January-2016-Earrings

Surprise Flower Earrings

These earrings are shaped like flowers (like a daisy where the petals are little gems). They seem like something that I would've liked in high school, but now, they're just the teensiest bit too cutesy for me. The earrings were packaged inside a tiny baggie wrapped in foil, but a little wax leaked into the bag. I had to pick a bit of wax off of the earrings, which wasn't a huge deal.

UPDATE: Thanks to MSA readers for letting me know that these are Hermione’s earrings from the yule ball!

Fandle Candle Co. Holiday At Hogsmeade Wax Melts

The wax melts smell like sweet peppermint. There's a touch of vanilla there, too, to make sure the scent is soft and candy-like, rather than herbal, like a peppermint essential oil would be.

Both the candle and the wax melts are very... melty. They loosen up and release their fragrances easily, which is great when you're trying to fill the room with aroma!

This box comes with a special surprise! This vinyl decal depicts a golden Hogwarts silhouette with the word "Home" cut out of it. For Harry Potter fans, this would make a lovely design to dress up a front window!

It's nice that they include instructions for how to use the vinyl decal!

Verdict: This box is a really fun way for fans to bring the stories they love into their homes. The fragrances were festive and pretty, though I wish they looked a bit more magical (it's Harry Potter after all!). The box is worth $19.99, which is probably about fair considering there are actually four items in the box (the candle, wax melts, earrings, and decal). Split evenly, that means each item is worth about $5.00 each—that's probably too high for the earrings and the decal, but otherwise fair. I don't think the non-thematic earrings hold that much value, and the experience of getting them out of the candle was more messy than exciting. If you're a candle fan, as well as a fan of books, movies, and more, then this box could be a cool way to amp up your collection!

These earrings are Hermione’s Earrings from the yule ball! They even sell similar ones in Diagonal Alley at Universal Studios! Disappointed the reviewer didn’t look into it and just said they didn’t fit the theme. Yule Ball Earrings would have brought this right up.

I am actually disappointed at the reviewer for being negative about the earrings. I realize that if you aren’t an avid Harry Potter fan these may not “fit” but they are replicas of the earrings Hermione wears in the movies. Fandle likes to go with a more subtle fandom nod and I feel like as a reviewer. All you had to do was Google yule ball earrings and these pop right up.

I received this box and think it is well worth the price for a 9oz candle alone the price is worth it and the earrings don’t bother my sensitive ears.

I highly recommend this box to any fandom candle lover.

The earrings are a perfect choice for this theme – hermiones earrings from the Yule ball. Any girl who loves Harry Potter, will love these earrings (despite age). Fabulous box!

Kimberly

I do believe the earrings are meant to look similar to the ones Hermione wears to the Yule Ball. They seem to be a similar pale pink as her gown was.

A-ha! Good catch, Kimberly! That makes so much sense. It’s been awhile since I’ve read the books, so that totally slipped my mind. Thanks for your input! 🙂

The earrings do fit the theme, actually. If you Google Hermione’s earrings, they are the first image to pop up. She wore the look-alikes at the Yule Ball.

Kate

Sorry one last question, so are the earrings like nickel size? quarter size? thanks

Reply ButtonReply

Anna Reilly

I’d say quarter! Hope that helps, Kate. Thanks for reading 🙂

Heidi

Jar size?
Amount of burn hours ?
Photo of the surprize jewelry?

Curious why none of that was included in the review.

Anna Reilly

Hi Heidi,

Oh, I’m sorry I forgot to include that! Thanks so much for your comment. The candle is 9 oz. I’m not certain of the total burn time, but I’m about a third of the way through it now after about 12 hours of burning the candle. That’s also about how long it took for the jewelry (adding a photo of those earrings, too) to emerge enough for me to pull them out of the wax.

Thank you again, Heidi, for calling that out! I appreciate you reading!

I’d also like to know the burning time of the candle or the jar size, that’d be soo helpful!

Christina

Would also like to see the earrings. I love surprises inside candles and love the fandom themes!

Liz Cadman

We’ll get a picture of the earrings and add it! 🙂

Jane

Yeah I would have thought you’d include the earring pics & value!

Cool concept. Might give it a try depending on how the jewelry looks.

Kate

Yes, I would have liked to see the earrings too, I have a junior high age daughter who would be interested. Also was there no value to to earrings? Thanks.

Missy

Wish u would’ve included a picture of the earrings even if they were tiny! Just for reference & curiousity!
