The ‘Cask’ box provided everything to age the alcohol of your choice!
Each shipment includes an information card. On the front, you find information about the items in the box, along with information about the brands/companies.
The reverse side always includes tipsย or an informationalย piece related to the items. This monthย includesย all kinds of information on whiskey!
Thousand Oaks Barrel Co. Oak Barrel + Extra Bottle and Funnel
This box is pretty straight forward. You receive the mini oak barrel from Thousand Oaks Barrel Co. + Cleaning Tablet ($64.90 on their site) and the additional tools you’ll need to age and bottle alcohol.
This is their 1 Liter model. It measuresย 6.5′ x 4.5′ x 4.5′ inches. If you enjoy aging your own alcohol, they offer barrels up to 20 Liters!
It includes a removable oak tap when you’re ready to dispense some aged whiskey.
It’s drilled on the top for all of your alcohol and corked with another oak piece.
Use the provided funnel to add your liquor and get ready for the waiting game!
You’ll receive a sterilization tablet ($14.95 on their site) to clean your barrel with boiling water in preparation for your alcohol.
In addition to the base kit from Thousand Oaks Barrel Company, Bespoke Post included more items to help the barreling and bottling proccesses. This is a 750-milliliter glass bottle to store your liquor.
Top your bottle off with custom-designed labels!
Verdict:ย I’ve yet to meet a Bespoke Post that is under-value – the value of the base barreling kit is around $65ย so that by itself is a great value for $45! I think this is a great gift idea for the homebrewer, aspiring brewer, or whiskey connoisseur on your holiday list!

Is the Cask box still available? I am not seeing it on Bespoke’s site.
I can’t find it either, which is a bummer. I wanted to buy this as a gift.
I love my cask! Already aged a small batch of bitters. One thing – the cleaning kit is very expensive through bespoke. I went to a local home brew store that also specializes in wine making and they sold me 50 campden tablets for about $3. The tablet is a preservative (a sulfite, I think it’s actually metabisulfite, which preserves against mold growth in food) that will “clean” and preserve your cask. Also there are a ton of YouTube videos on tips and tricks. Turns out these things are pretty popular in certain areas.
Thanks for the tip– I got 100 tabs through Amazon Prime for $5 shipped.
I was thinking of getting one of these barrels for my dad as well, but he’s 82 – and I don’t want to give him any gift that will make him ask himself whether he’ll be around long enough to try it. Too bad because the casket is so cute!
Anyone has a better idea of a “use now” gift?
You can age a batch in as little as two days, or as long as a month. The small batch size vs the surface area of the 1L cask means spirits age MUCH faster than in traditional barrels.
i got this for my Dad. I think I will accompany it with a bottle of J&B and see how it ages, What do you think? He likes scotch. Trying to figure out what would be a good bottle to experiment with,
In the card they suggest moonshine that will, over time, take on a bourbon flavor.
oh. lol. my dad is 75. moonshine is no good. Maybe not such a good idea.
My boyfriend did it with a bottle of Bulleit and it turned out great. I think your dad will LOVE this if he’s into scotch/bourbon/whiskey. ๐
