I am so frustrated with Beautyfix. I ordered a mystery box with tiny and outdated samples. I emailed them and got a quick response stating I would get a December box as a replacement. Nothing happened , I emailed 2 more times and received a response that I would not be getting Decembers’s box but another replacement. I emailed 2 more times and just read my email. For some reason I was not scheduled for a replacement, now the boxes are sold out. December is still available. They did refund my money finally but don’t appreciate being lied to. I am thinking of canceling. Too bad I like the regular box.

Ooh my gosh same here! I am so frustrated with Beautyfix. I ordered 2 mystery boxes with expired items and they told me I would get 2 December boxes as a replacement. Assured me of this. Nothing happened until today when I received a response that I would not be getting December boxes and now the boxes are sold out?!? Why wasn’t I put in the system a month ago when they were supposed to send me the December boxes. They were still available then. I purposely did not by this because I had 2 coming. They did refund my money finally but hate that they mislead me and backed out after they were supposed to mix their mistake, they just made worse ones.

Further update on the mystery box debacle. I had previously contacted customer service and they assured me that the beauty fix II box was all new products, so when I revived my box I looked up the product lot numbers manufacture date. Just as an example, the bliss oxygen mask was manufactured in November of 2014. I am absolutely livid. I emailed customer service again. I don’t know why they think we are uninformed shlubs. It’s not okay to send 2 year old product out and assure it’s brand new. They have lied multiple times now and I don’t know how they expect to recover from this.

I just really don’t know what I want to do about this whole mystery box mess. I’m not really upset with what I got, I wasn’t going to use the hair regrow th stuff anyway, and when they first sent the emails out saying they would be sending replacement boxes I thought “wow, that is really proactive and generous”. It was $15 bucks, and I feel like I will get more than $15 of use from it. But I am really bothered by the fact that they reneged on customer service promises (not me, but a lot of others), that they have bold face lied about age of the replacement products, and that they are deleting any post on their Facebook page regarding the entire incident; those all really concern me. I love their monthly boxes, but I just don’t know now…..

Mine had the same problems. Replacing an expired product with four expired products. I called and they gave me a refund. I got the mystery box to try the box and see if I wanted to subscribe. Not after this. It seems like a good monthly box, but I’m just done at this point.

Well I really don’t blame you for not wanting to sub. If i wasn’t a subscriber when i got the mystery box i would be done too. The beautyfix box is one of favorite subs. It really sucks they screwed up so bad because they would have had alot of new subscribers. I really do recommend their monthly box.

I went back and checked most of the products i have gotten since September in the monthly beautyfix boxes and they all checked out fine. The mystery box was a really bad idea since they were obviously trying to get rid of old stock. Then they couldn’t keep up with replacing all the outdated boxes. They ran out of November boxes so started using best of boxes which all must have outdated products too. At this point they need to refund everyone or send out future boxes. There really is no problem with the monthly sub boxes at all. They just royally screwed up with the mystery box.

Checkcosmetics. Net. They don’t have everything, but I was able to look up bliss, skincuticals, vichy, and a couple other I think. I like to check all my cosmetics periodically to make sure they don’t need to be tossed and replaced. I am so super disappointed in dermstore. By trying to minimize their cost they’ve maximized the damage.

I am very happy with Decembers box. The samples are all a great size and having several full size items is amazing. The only things i don’t like is the Lip Satin in Velvet and the nailpolish. The color of the lippie is orangey with full coverage and fuschia if you blend in a little. Definitely not for me. I do like the formula though. If it was a different color it would be great. I received Sleigh ME nailpolish which is a pale gold sparkly color. I can’t wear nailpolish so i will swap or gift it. What color nailpolish did everyone else get? 10 items this month and 11 last month. Keep up the good work BeautyFix!

I am so glad I got 2 December boxes (one to replace the Mystery box). I tried the Wow hair product this morning and love it for my thin fine hair. The gloss is pink pink, gifting to my teen nieces. Great box, great company.

I just got this box last night. Not my favorite, seemed to be more samples than normal, but overall still a nice box. My only real complaint is the lip gloss. I tossed it. The shade is not flattering, and it is really pigmented. It stays really glossy, and moves to teeth and surrounding skin really easily, and unfortunately, it stains quickly. Normally, that’s nice, have color even after several hours, but if you get any on your skin and don’t notice, it is going to stay there awhile. The color is bit strong, and I can’t picture any complexion it would complement.

Ditto,I just got my box last night too .Lip products are my favorite makeup product and that lip shade has got to be the ugliest shade I have ever seen in my life .It stains very quickly and if you liked the shade that would be a good thing.Also I did mess up just a bit and was stuck with it.Really sometimes I wonder where these boxes cone up with the color’s ,they gotta be the shades nobody will purchase so they put them in our boxes ! I liked everything else in my box but yeah a few were really small this time .But their really good brands that I normally wouldn’t get for myself,so I’m going to look at this as half full glass lo,

I got my box yesterday as well, I’m pretty happy about the samples and the red lipgloss/liquid lipstick/whatever it is is one of the few reds that work for me. I have really fair skin and very dark hair and it’s just the right amount of color. It’s especially pretty if you put it on lightly and blend it it.

I received my replacement box for the expired product. I was one of the first people to contact them so i received the November box. I am a subscriber so i ended up with 2 November boxes. I am very happy. There were a couple different products and some extras as well. I really hope people give Beautyfix a second chance because they are a really great subscription and this mystery box debacle is not how they usually do business. I have never had any expired product before and I’m sure it won’t happen again.

They actually have done this exact thing before but it was when they went by Blush Mystery Box. Most of the time DermStore is pretty legit but they DO have a history(just google DermStore complaints) with sending out expired or soon to expire beauty products. Fortunately, CS usually will clean up the mess. But with beauty/health companies, they really should be proactive instead of reactive.

I received a spoiled product my first box,they were very nice in crediting my account an amount for the bad products .They also told me dont use it and toss it.I handled this all thru a email ,it took minutes.Ive been with them 12 months this month i think and never another problem

Hey! I just wanted to post and let y’all know that I just used the live chat to ask about what they were sending me as a replacement and I told them I was promised a December box as a replacement, he confirmed that I was indeed having a best of beautyfix box shipped to me (basically the july box I received in the first place with a couple extra things) and he actually went and and apologized and corrected the order and set up a december box to be shipped to me before I even told him that that’s basically what I contacted customer service about in the first place! So if y’all want you may still be able to secure a december box as a replacement if you contact customer service again:)

Brianna, you clearly got a great customer service rep! Well done! Your experience just drives home the point that Beauty Fix has handled this in a very inconsistent manner. Some people got November boxes, some people were offered a single replacement product of their choosing, some people were offered refunds, some people received the Best of Beauty Fix (aka July 2015 box), many were offered (but weren’t sent) the December box, etc… I think that’s part of the problem – there is no consistent solution and it seems to be the luck of the draw as to what happens.

The company just needs to come up with a solution and offer it to everyone all at the same time. At a minimum, it would alleviate a lot of headaches for their CS reps.

I posted previously that I was promised December boxes as replacements. Upon logging into my account and seeing a Best of BeautyFix II, I replied to my chat transcript to clarify and was told I wouldn’t be receiving the December box. I bought a hairdryer during Black Friday and was “offered” a best of box (version I) for $19.99 and fell for it. Received that today and am happy with the contents- definitely more than what I paid. Not sure I want four of the version II, but hopefully there will be a few items that make it worth it as my intention was to use them as gifts. For anyone else promised a December box for the replacement, don’t count on it. I’m not sure why they told so many of us that we would be receiving it- seems like the left hand and the right hand weren’t communicating…

ok dermstore this is THE LAST STRAW. I am fuming mad right now!! I called, spoke to a gentleman on the phone who assured me I was getting the December beautyfix box as a replacement…checked my email as advised above and yep, found an email buried among my absurd quantities of emails that says “best of beautyfix ii”.

so let’s recap:
– sent expired products
– promised Decembers beautyfix box as a replacement via phone call
– instead sent another box without being asked if that was an acceptable substitute

dermstore, you realize this sucks right?? like you realize how many multiple screw-ups you made here?

all I can say at this point is that I hope I’m REALLY happy with the replacement. otherwise they might be hearing from me yet again.

For those of you who received replacement mystery boxes, did you receive a email with tracking info?
I received the email saying “oops, we sent an expired product, you will get a new box.” Unfortunately I did not purchase the mystery box using my Dermstore account, I just did a quick purchase through Paypal, so I’m unable to check my account for the shipment of a replacement mystery box.

Just after I wrote that, I checked my emails, and they actually sent me an order form for 2 beautyfix ii boxes! I guess because I bought 2 mystery boxes, they are sending out as many replacement boxes as you bought! So, check your email, perhaps everyone got their order confirmations also! It doesn’t say it was shipped yet though, but at least I know whats going on now..lol. I was getting nervous.

Thanks for responding! I received an email today showing the replacement order will be processed within the next 48 hours. I am getting the Best of BeautyFIX II box, but I’m OK with it because the SkinCeuticals samples are amazing. I am so in love with those samples that I won’t moan and groan over the other contents! I’m a subscriber so I will be getting the December box too. I have a lot to look forward to the next few weeks!

I did my order the same exact thing as you.. quick checkout through paypal. I can’t find a tracking code either. I even went in and made a full account through Dermstore with my address and everything. After I did that, I was able to find my order history with the mystery beautyfix box, but it doesn’t show anything about the replacement box! I’m so confused, I even sent them an email, asking about it, but they never got back to me yet.

Beautyfix is the best subscription box, never never dissapoint !!!!! I can’t believe I resub to glossybox 🙁 and again,totally dissapointment with the variations, I received a really cheap November box, and now I have to stay for 2 extra months 😭 at least I’m going a like and use the box.

I had assumed that a mystery box would be a mix of products from different boxes, not a chance for the company to unload two months that were unpopular (and from a year or more ago!). They could have listed those two past boxes for sale at a discount (like some companies do) but didn’t, which makes me think that they knew no one would voluntarily pay $15 for them so they unloaded them as a surprise.

I’ve been thinking about subscribing for a while now but won’t after this.

Same here. I was interested before but after getting the mystery box I was so disappointed. I got bunch of super mini junk samples and two sample hair clips with vichy sample. Not even worth $15. I get better and bigger stuff from ipsy and birch box. Felt like a total scam mystery box.. but who can i blame..never buying any mystery box without seeing a spoiler.

I EXPECT to not be paying for what, essentially, should have been trashed a year ago. Also, many of the items sent out unfortunately did not have an exp. date on them, but considering they were from boxes 1&1/2 years old- chances are they could be expired(or at the very least, quite old).

I think people were expecting unexpired products, which is reasonable, also a value of over 100 dollars as was stated in the offer. Some people got an October 2015 box with expired product, and some people got July 2015 which wasn’t a 100 dollar value, so either way the promise wasn’t fulfilled. I don’t care that I got a discount, that doesn’t make the terrible box acceptable. If I buy something on sale and it has a big hole in it, the fact that I got it on sale doesn’t make the hole okay…

I agree with Lori. People are disappointed because it’s essentially false advertising. The value of the box is not the stated value, and furthermore, many of us that called DermStore were promised the December box, but now, they are sending what many people are saying is their worst box ever, which is even older than the “mystery box” with an expired product. This is not professional conduct for any business.

What about the people who bought more then 1 box? I bought 2 boxes. Are they going to send me 2 replacement boxes? What about the people who bought say.. 5 or 6 boxes? It’s not fair if someone who bought more then 1 box gets only 1 box replacement, the same as those who only bought 1. They need to send as their customers as many replacement boxes as they bought!

I assume that everything was expired as the boxes were from July and October of 2015. The hair serum was the only product with an actual noticeable expiration date stamped on it. Although some may still be “useable” I personally feel that most cosmetics tend to deteriorate after 1-1/2 years + old.

I’ll get the spelling of this wrong, but it was Follimedical…or something close to that. It is a product that aids in hair loss. The expiration date on mine was 12/15.

I saw a lot of negative comments about Dermstore’s customer service but I have to say they’ve been amazing to me!

Last month my eyeshadow came broken and one of the smaller samples was only a the packaging no product, they sent me out a new box right away – 2nd day air shipment.

Usually I have no problem, but the few times I have (logging into my account, etc.) they’ve been just as good as Birchbox.

Well, you are lucky. In October the most expensive item in my box (LashFood RV $40) came completely empty and the solution they offered was to refund me 1/8 of the box cost, which is ~$3.5 :/ I had shattered eye shadow issue before but they never offered sending a new box, just said they can either partial refund or send another item from the box. I wish I had as good experience as you.

Their CS is usually tremendous. All the negative comments relate to the mystery box they just offered (which turned out to be a bunch of old products from boxes offered in July and October of 2015). Then they generously offered the December box to make up for delivering expired products in their mystery boxes, but then they reneged on that offer (without telling anyone or reoffering the refund they had originally offered people) and instead chose to send out even older products. Essentially they just dumped old merchandise in MSA customers then made it worse by misleading people about the “remedy”. It’s really out of character for their customer service. I’m actually very surprised they are doing this. It’s damaging their reputation, which up until this episode was pretty flawless.

This is the equivalent of going to a restaurant and ordering a tuna sandwich and they give you one on moldy bread, then when you complain they say they’ll give you a meatball sub or your money back. You accept the sub and then when they bring you your order it’s a moldy ham sandwich instead.
This wouldn’t be okay in any other business, so I don’t know why they think it’s going to fly with customers.

Whoa, what a box!! Like many others, I received two mystery boxes with expired product. I sent an email 11/29 (the day they were delivered) and had not heard back yet, so I decided to try the live chat. I just got done a few minutes ago and the representative said they will be sending me December boxes as a replacement! No offer to refund like some others, but after seeing this reveal, I couldn’t be happier with getting these boxes instead!! She said to look for an email confirmation in 1-2 weeks when the December box is released.

Hey. I just spoke to customer service. I was really excited for the December box as my replacement, and it even made me second guess my decision not to sub. But customer service said that the BeautyFIX II that I am actually getting was made especially for customers who got the expired product. I was promised a December box as well and am not particularly happy that they reneged on that offer. But she did not offer to switch them, so I guess that’s that. I probably won’t subscribe to them now. But at least they are replacing it.

I received the July 2015 box as my mystery box so I emailed them about the mascara being dry so they sent me a November box. I just received it 2 days ago. It’s definitely a November box and I’m very happy with my replacement. I never needed to call or anything. They just shipped it out on the day I sent the email.

Just a warning – a lot of people received that same message from Beauty Fix only to get a “Best of Beauty Fix” box instead. One person actually received the July 2015 box (it’s unclear if that is, in fact, the Best of Beauty Fix box). It’s hard to say what exactly is going on over at Beauty Fix but one thing is pretty certain…their mystery box was a mega-bust.

I just spoke with the Dermstore customer service and the box they are sending is not the December, it is a different box, which includes the following: SkinCeuticals Resveratrol B E,SkinCeuticals, Metacell Renewal B3,Erno Laszlo Firmarine Face Bar,SkinMedica Replenish Hydrating Cream, GloMinerals Lash Boosting Mascara, Vichy Purete Thermale 3-in-1 Cleansing Solution,Dermstore Lip Quench Original, DevaCurl 3-Step Sampler Kit, Bliss Triple Oxygen Energizing Mask, Eminence Stone Crop Hydrating Mist, and Danielle Creations Mini Mirror. Even if it is not the December box, the best of box includes are a lot of items.

The value of their boxes are just too awesome. And I really appreciate that they have been slowly building up my beauty accessories with the pill box, mirror, tweezers and now nail clippers. It would be super cool if each month you could choose one accessory between three, or choose your color preference. I would pay $5.00 more a month for some level of customization. Does anyone else what that? Respond below and perhaps we will get a response back from dermstore. They have the best skincare beauty box on the market in my opinion.

I like the idea of being able to pick a guaranteed item (kind of like Birchbox) but what I would not want to have happen is an across-the-board box variation (like Glossy Box and Sephora Play!). I like that Beautyfix feels fair, that all customers get the same items.

I tried the Evercalm by REN once before and either really loved it or really hated it…but I can’t remember which so it’ll be good to try again.

I was promised a second December box to replace the Mystery box, not had not seen anything in my account or via email. When I chatted today to confirm, they offered Best of Beauty or refund, even though I pointed out the earlier promise. She said they just found out about the new box Tuesday. I guess we will see. I don’t think my account had been updated from my call Monday.

This box is just the second variant of the mystery box, which I confirmed with their CS rep, who was very unwilling to own up to what is in the box until I listed it out and forced them to. It is the July 2015 (more than a year old) box with a couple extra things thrown in. They refunded me even though they already shipped it because it was the box that I had complained about in the first place. I would recommend trying to get a refund as well since they are not refunding with the December Box as promised. Just more old stock.

Thank you so much for reaching out to us. We are very sorry for the confusion! We have created the Best Of BeautyFIX 2 box specifically to replace the Mystery Boxes that may have had an expired item. Although some of the items are the same, this box is NOT the July 2015 Box. All the items in this new box are new samples from the manufacturers and has been through extensive review and Quality Assurance at our warehouse. We created this box specifically with these items to replace the mystery box because this is the most comparable to the price of the Mystery Box that was purchased. We are very sorry for the confusion and inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

I bought three of the mystery boxes for gifts and chatted with customer service about the expired products. They promptly refunded my card for all three boxes. I got an email Wednesday that they are sending out free replacement boxes. I assumed I wouldn’t get one, since they already refunded the full amount. After seeing these spoilers, I wish I could have gotten replacement boxes instead of the refund.

I’m confused. Are they sending replacements to everyone, or just those that called in to complain? I must have missed the discussion.

I never called CS because I wasn’t even aware of the expired product they sent out, and they sent me an email telling me they were going to send a replacement box. So, I guess everyone who bought the mystery box is getting a new box sent to them for free. Not sure what box it is though, I’ll be happy as long as it isn’t the same mystery box. But, I’m wondering about the people who bought more then one. I bought 2 boxes, and am wondering if they are going to send 2 replacement boxes.

I received an email stating I was going to receive a replacement box and I did not call customer service. I did receive the outdated hair product as well.

This box is amazing! Not sure whether I should sign up or if my replacement mystery box will be a December box or best of… If anyone finds out, please let us know!

If you want this December box, then I suggest you subscribe. I was promised the December box on 11/29 only to be shipped the Best of Beautyfix II on 11/30, which is the July 2015 box with a couple more items thrown in (confirmed with customer service rep).

I reached out to customer service today and they said “we our sending out new BeautyFix boxes with current products to customers affected by the mistake free of charge. Email notifications are being currently being sent out to all customers affected.” Hope that hopes!

I was told mine would be the December box, but my email confirmation says Best of Beautyfix II. I don’t know where to find that info. Is that a box that came out before or is about to come out?

If you sign into your dermstore account and look at your order it tells you what they’re sending as a replacement. I am also getting a best of box and I have no idea what it is. The stated retail value is 19.99, so less than what the mystery box retail value was stated as, but who knows, maybe they just slapped a value on there for coding reasons. I am anxious for someone to receive one of these so we know what it’s all about.

My replacement box showed up today. As promised, it was the November box. I find with that. But boy, do I wish I had two December boxes…

I have two replace replacement boxes coming, one is the December box and one is something called best of beautyfix 2. I have no idea what that is and on my invoice it states a 19.99 value, so I’m not overly optimistic about it, but we will see. I think its a crap shoot on what they decide to send you to replace the terrible mystery (not so mysterious) boxes.

I love beauty fix! This box looks exceptional! It is a very high dollar box also even if the products aren’t all full-size. This is one sub I have never wavered on! I will never cancel it unless something drastic were to happen LOL I might actually buy another one because there are a few things in there that would be great for stocking stuffers for my daughters.
