Five Four Club is a monthly men’s clothing subscription service. You take a brief survey when you sign up (sizes and style preferences), and then each month they send you on average 2-3 new clothing pieces or accessories. For reference, my style profile is “T-Shirt and jeans.”

I've been subscribing March 2013 and in general, I'm very happy with the quality of the clothing and the value - especially the t-shirts. (We’ve found the sizing to be similar to American Eagle’s sizing if that helps!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

This month delivered a dressy item and a cozy winter item! I recommend sizing up for their clothing - a lot of tends to run a bit small, it's best to go one size larger than usual!

Mark McNairy Silva Hoodie - Navy

Both of my items were from the McNairy collection this month, the first was a hoodie.

Is it a style to have a gigantic hood? Because that's exactly what this has, I felt like a Sith Lord.

Overall, it's comfy and I love the gold zipper - but we couldn't get over how giant the hood was!

It's easy to get lost in it! I like the hoodie's comfort level, but I enjoy wearing my hood up - even in the house - so I might not get much use out of this one because it keeps falling and covering my eyes!

Mark McNairy Sawyer Button Down - Blue

The second item is a button up dress shirt.

It's got this little double-pocket on your breast pocket. It's a slim fit, but you could keep a card in the under-pocket. Typically, McNairy designs have had something quirky to them, like a rubber ducky lining, but this one was normal (besides the under-pocket).

Verdict: This wasn't my favorite month of Five Four Club. I'm usually always happy with a hoodie - but the hood is so comically large that I'm not sure I can pull it off - maybe it's good for loungewear? The dress shirt is nice, but I can't remember being excited when I get anything dressier - so that was a bit of a miss for me. We started in October with shipments. The first order my husband received a pair of jeans and a sweater. The second one was the hoodie and a button up–not this one Eric is showing and the third one which was this December and he received a jacket, a winter hat and socks. We have loved everything but the hoodie. My husband hates hoodies and he was excited about a cardigan but he did not receive one in his shipment. My son received the hoodie and loves it. As far as size, my husband is 6ft and has an athletic, lean bill. Everything fits him perfectly. He does not need to have the pants hemmed or anything. My son is 6’2″ and very lean, the hoodie fits him perfectly. I even ordered a couple of sweaters and a button down from their shop and they are great. Maybe they make the clothing for the stereotypical lean, sporty guy with the inverted triangle shape like female fashion lines do for 00 tall pubescent girls? We are looking forward to our future shipments other than shorts for summer. Hubby does not like shorts. I do find they are hard to contact. I hate that they do not have a more extensive choice list for clothes. I had to email them and tell them no more hoodies and NO camouflage. Now I will have to let them know before summer no shorts. Oh, we did get a free five pack of socks for ordering clothes above a certain price range and they are great. Well made and good colors.

I have a grey cardigan I got from FiveFour that I’m not too thrilled with. If you’re interested, you can contact me on twitter @truzen. I’m a size L.

Cool! Let me join twitter in the morning. My husband wears a large because of his broad shoulders so it should work. Thank you.

Five Four Club is a huge disappointment and a waste of money. Amidst poorly sized items and low quality goods, their customer service is garbage. I’ve called 3x to cancel my service and I’ve waited on the phone no less than 1 hour 30 minutes with two “convenient” hangups on their end. Save your money or spend it at the mall, not on this garbage company.

Good review of a pretty weak box.

I got the same shirt, and I hate it. It’s too small, but I wouldn’t wear it if it weren’t. The stripes are okay, but the different hues that they come in really bother me. 0/10. Ugh.

My hoodie was maroon, and that’s fine. The hoodie is okay, but the gold is annoying. I just don’t like gold. It fits fine.

Additionally, I had to chat with a rep to cancel this sub and they told me I’d be charged for December because the cut-off was a couple of days ago (even though it wasn’t scheduled to be charged for a few more days) . Now I have to pay another $60 for clothes that I’m probably going to hate. 10/10 disappointed.

This was my first month with FiveFour and I got to say that I was rather disappointed.

I got the same button down shirt, but I feel like the buttons aren’t in line. Some are fine, others not so much; it winds up pulling the fabric and, with the vertical lines, makes it more apparent. I might have to go up to XL, to give space to my neck and a bit to the chest, but I feel like I would wind up with too much fabric around the trunk. 7/10

My second piece was a grey cardigan. I always have trouble wearing anything with steep necks; I feel… overexposed. I know I’m suppose to wear it in tandem with something else (perhaps the prior article of clothing), but it still feels too open. Unlike the shirt, the cardigan had too much fabric; it draped a bit awkwardly around the lower back. 4/10

I did get the sunglasses from the current running promo. Overall, I like the case. And the frame, while plastic, feels sturdier than most of the freebie glasses I got kicking around. I’m not too fond of the height of the bridge, but I’ll manage. 8/10

Considering that I got in on a promo ($30 for the first month + sunglasses), I’m willing to give it another month. My wife liked how all of the items looked on me, so I might just be super picky. But considering the hype I’ve heard, not just from this site, but from my friends as well, I was hoping the clothes would be better made. Is this a case of, “You get what you pay for?” Fingers crossed for next month.

Great job modeling the hoodie! My husband received a different button down and it looks great. The hoodie ended up with my son because my 51 yo this Feb feels goofy wearing one. I love the Sith Lord comment and will always smirk when I see my son wearing it. It is a nice hoodie though and my son loves it!
