Now, onto the items!

Smith & Cult Nailed Lacquer in Pillow Pie – FULL SIZE! Value $18

I LOVE Smith & Cult nail polishes! The bottle designs are so gorgeous (it’s supposed to have that dent), and the formulas are great, too.

Here is the nail polish on:

It’s a pale, ballet-slipper pink, and I love it. It goes on somewhat sheer, so you’ll need several coats for full coverage or one coat over a white base coat (as I’ve done here).

Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara – .1 oz Value $8

I’ve received this sample many times in subscription boxes over the years, and I’m always happy to receive more – it is a great formula!

Good volume, length, and lash separation – no complaints here! (This is my backup mascara to my all-time favorite tarte Lights Camera Lashes.)

Moroccanoil Treatment Original – .5 oz Value $8.80

Another beauty item I’ve sampled many times before – and I can definitely tell why it’s a cult classic. The formula adds shine, moisture, and doesn’t make your hair greasy. Plus the scent is lovely, and a little goes a long way!

TOCCA Crema da Mano in Cleopatra – 1 oz Value $5

(You’ll receive either this scent or Bianca in your box.)

This scent is a blend of grapefruit and cucumber. It’s pretty fragrant, so I’m not sure if it’s for me. But the lotion itself absorbs quickly and is paraben-free!

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – 1 oz Value $10

I don’t think they could have done a cult classics box without including Oribe! This is THE luxe haircare brand in my book, and I love the scent and performance of their products, including this volumizing spray.

Lipstick Queen Hello Sailor Lipstick – FULL SIZE! Value $25

This is the one brand in the box that is new to me, and the blue tint definitely had me intrigued!

First, this is definitely more of a sheer lip balm than a lipstick. It’s moisturizing and provides a faint blue/plum tint. I tried this on with nothing else, and it made me look a little under the weather!

But! When I tried it over my regular lip liner/lip color, it added a bit of blue/cool tint which I liked (and which should make teeth look whiter, too.)

(Swatched in lower photo.)

LOC One & Done Shadow Stick in Heavy Petal – FULL SIZE! Value $10

LOC is one of Birchbox’s own lines, and I think the formulas are great. Lots of pigment, smooth application, and blendable colors. (Swatched in lower photo.)

Laura Geller New York Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey – Sample Value $10?

(There is no size listed on the sample, but I’d say it’s the equivalent of a full-sized eyeshadow.)

This highlighter feels like a cream-powder hybrid. It blends so easily, and the finish on my skin is so smooth, too.

Here it is swatched below the lipstick and LOC eye crayon:

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant – FULL SIZE! Value $22

I was expecting a skin cream when I opened this tube, but it’s actually a clear balm. It’s fragrance-free and fabulous for cuticles, elbows, and any other dry skin areas. (Perfect timing for winter weather!)

And a little goes a long way, so I think this tube should last me all season long!

Shiseido White Lucent Power Brightening Mask – Value $11

This mask was super hydrating, and I only had to wear it for ten minutes, so I was happy! (I can’t say I saw any skin-brightening differences, though.)

TokyoMilk Dark Tainted Love Eau de Parfum – Travel-size Value $11?

This is a rollerball perfume is a blend of dark vanilla bean, white tea, sandalwood, and sweet orchid. I was surprised by how much I liked the sweet scent. I normally don’t wear perfume, but I’ll keep this one on hand for those rare occasions!

Beautyblender – Value $20

This item made this box a great value for me. (I use a Beautyblender every day for applying foundation, so I’d be paying $20 for this item alone!)

If you haven’t used a Beautyblender yet, you will soon learn why this is such a cult classic! It’s the best way I’ve found to apply foundation for a flawless finish (no brushstrokes, excess formula, etc.)

Make sure to soak the Beautyblender in water, then squeeze out excess before applying foundation. You want to bounce the blender across your face, not rub it in.

Isaac Jacobs Acrylic Makeup Organizer – Value $19

This organizer has a gorgeous rose gold base on one side. Here is a different angle to show it better:

Such a practical and pretty item – my favorite kind of subscription box inclusion!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $178! I think that’s a great value for a $60 box. (And even better with the 15% off coupon COMEBACKMAN.) I appreciate that Birchbox included some major beauty hits in this box – it definitely makes it worth it to me!

What do you think of the Birchbox Limited Edition: Cult Classics Box?

And don’t forget to add your free mystery sample pack! Here are the two samples I received with my box:

Coastal Scents Eye Shadow Sampler + Beauty Protector Beauty Cream.

  1. Such a beautiful box and really love all the products and brands and colors too but 60 is alot. I always love the limited boxes but they always to much for me. If your a subscribers and can use your points then it is worth is though. Everything is so pretty…

    • ?

    • “I need a shower.
      I need bleach.
      I need Jesus.”

    • Could those scissors be any bigger?

  2. If I remember correctly, I think the cap of the Smith & Cult polish comes off to make for an easier application of the polish. Similar to how Julep’s tops come off so that you can swatch the polish on top of the cap. Does anybody happen to recall if this is true for the Smith & Cult polishes? I would think that wide cap would make for an awkward polish application.

    • Yes, this is correct!

  3. If anyone is looking for the organizer it’s available at Marshalls for $5.99, in both gold and rose gold.

    • Thanks for the tip… I would live to get another.

  4. I am passing on Glossybox’s LE box this year. Never thought i would say that. I may get this box instead.

I wanted to make a comment about the LOC shadow stick in this box though. I do love the color, wear, longevity and crease proof formula however, do not make the mistake I did. On vacation I used this on my water line. Immediately my eye burned and the pain and irritation it caused was a 7 on a 1 -10 pain scale. I kid you not. I have never in my life reacted to any cosmetic item. My eye burned so bad and this stuff dries fast, it doesn’t budge either so it wasn’t wiping off with a tissue. I had to rush into the bathroom with one eye closed, grab makeup remover and get that crap off my eye. It was horrible. When my crisis was over my eye was super red, irritated and very swollen. For four days my eye looked like a bad case of pinkeye with nasty goop coming out. I was a mess and wasn’t too happy about not being able to wear any eye makeup on my eyes on my vacation.

Obviously I had a violent reaction to something in this and hopefully it was a rare occurrence. I do still wear this on my eyelid without incident. Just be aware what I went through and be aware to maybe not try this on your waterline especially if you have a special event you’re getting ready for.

  5. Wow Liz, great review! Your review convinced me to order this just now. Most products I’m looking forward to and can use. That organizer with the rose gold will look so great at my vanity!

  6. I have the Queen Frog lipstick and the Hello Sailor and I LOVE both of them. The blue is not blue at all for me, it turns into a really pale mauve and the Queen Frog turns light pink. I LOVE both of these. They don’t leave any lipstick marks on glassware either. I also ordered the Jane Iredale lipstick sample that came in my BB this month as that too turned into such a sheer lovely pink.

BB has sent me some of my favorite items this year like the Beauty Protect spray, This works pillow spray and marcelle mascara.

  7. Everything looks good in this box! Thank you for your review, Liz. The only item I’m not a fan of is nail polish. Compared to gel/shellac polish, no regular nail polish looks the same. ? But the color and the packaging are pretty.

  8. I WANT this box but yeah waiting for BF or bigger discount. Love this box, even the blue lipstick!

  9. I really want this box but I’m hesitant to buy anything this close to BF. What kinds of deals did BB have last year?

    • Last year they had a fantastic percent off. I think it was 30 for aces. It wasn’t just subs but the whole shop. After everything that’s happened with the points system changes, I don’t think it will be that generous. I almost suspect they will have cheap yearly subscription deals and maybe 30 off a particular brand like Marcelle.

  10. I’ve ordered this box but haven’t received it yet. Almost everything looks really good. Not sure I like the blue lipstick and I have way too many hair oils. I’ve always loved the BB special edition boxes but they haven’t had a good one for awhile. If anyone’s been with BB for a couple years they will remember the “Vanity Affair” box. It was amazing. I wish it was still available.

    • That “A Vanity Affair” box may have been the best LE they’ve ever done! It’s certainly one of my favorite LE boxes by anyone.

I’m waiting to see what other holiday LE they come out with this year. I hope they do SOMETHING else that’s luxe like that!! 😀

    • I would buy the Vanity Affair box in a second if they sold it again. That was an awesome box!

  11. Just got my box today! (And I even got the exact same 2 products in my mystery sample pack)
Can’t wait to try everything out (but I’m going to swap the blue lip stuff bc I know someone else will enjoy it way more than me since I hardly ever wear anything besides chapstick)

    • Mystery Sample twins! Hope you love the box, too! 🙂

    • Hi Randi! I’d be happy to take the blue lipstick off your hands! Are you looking for anything in particular?
