When I signed up for Cairn, they asked me to do a huge questionnaire for customization purposes. It asked questions about the types of outdoor activities I like, and I chose hiking, camping (car), backpacking, and yoga. They had loads of options, though, like rock climbing, mountain biking, fishing — just about everything I could think of! They also asked a few lifestyle questions (kids? dogs?) plus basics like t-shirt size.

All this leads me to believe that contents may vary from subscriber to subscriber, so if you subscribe but get different things, please let me know!

This is the info card that came in the package, listing out all the contents.

Fozzils Solo Pack – Value $14.34

These bowls are amazing! I am so excited! They weigh 4 ounces total and pack flat. Then you just fold and snap! They fold kind of like the containers you sometimes get at Chinese restaurants. These are ingenious!

Nite Ize 2 Ft. GearLine – Value $14.99

This may not look that exciting, but believe me when I say this will be super handy to have when camping! It’s always so key to keep a variety of things off the ground, and that’s exactly what this gear line system is all about!

Cutting Board by Light My Fire of Sweden – Value $3.33

Sweden is known for brilliant product design, and this cutting board definitely fits the bill. It’s about the size of a coaster (and can also be used as a coaster), so it’s super portable and lightweight. Plus, in addition to being a cutting board, it can be used as a strainer. So cool!

Nuttin’ Here by Jimmybar – Value $2.33

I’ve had Jimmybars before, but I think this is my new favorite. It’s gluten- and nut-free, too. Yum!

We used to get an envelope from Cairn with lots of coupons in it, but Cairn recently switched to a card with all the promo codes printed on it. That’s so much more handy and eco-friendly!

Verdict: We love our Cairn subscription! I am consistently impressed by their product variety and selection. We have discovered so many new items that have revolutionized our camping experiences! This month’s products seem equally promising. This month’s value adds up to about $35, which is good for a $25 box. Cairn’s values are consistently good!

Do you subscribe to Cairn? What are your outdoor activities? What did they send you?

  1. I got the fossil dining set last month. This month, a hyper light and strong steel spade (love)’, a jimmy bar, an Ultralight rip proof breathable dopp kit (love), a blister medic kit. Would have liked that gear line.

  2. This month I got a dog-centric box with canvas bowl, light up collar and paw salve in addition to the Jimmy bar and a giant wetnap. I am excited to take the dog out with her new accessories.

  3. I got totally different items in my Cairn for October:
    1) 5ft Loomienoodle (LED rope, very bright)
    2) EasyKlips (locking clips to secure a tarp)
    3) Loksack (2 waterproof bags for electronics)
    4) Jimmy bar
My interests are: camping (outdoor), hiking, backpacking. So I’d say Cairn team DOES match products to the profiles. This is definitely a box worth subscribing to.

  4. Nice! I got the same stuff except a Light My Fire spice box instead of the GearLine. It works ok for small spices but doesn’t flow too well :/ Should be ok for camping. The gear line looks super super useful!
