Awaken Box is a new subscription service that delivers handmade global artisanal goods and supports global charities.

From Awaken Box's FAQ: "Our mission is to awaken hearts and minds to the needs of our neighbors across the globe and to support artisans in third world countries who are trying to sustain a business for themselves to simply survive." That's a noble mission. Bravo!

This card was included this month, describing Dunamis in Ecuador, which is both the charity supported and the artisan group that created the items this month.

This is our recipe of the month, Arroz con Pollo. It's a standard recipe, but got me wondering how it would taste using beer as suggested. It looks yummy!

Statement Necklace

This necklace is made from tagua nuts! They are collected from the beaches and then cut, pounded, and dyed. How unique!

Spoon and Bottle Opener

This is a spoon and bottle opener made from a metal and clay amalgam. It has that rustic vintage look to it. It's not my personal style, but I'm sure some people would totally love this.

Verdict: This was my second box from Awaken Box, and I think they did a lovely job. I think both of the items are unique and special, and I completely support the mission of Awaken Box. I am still confused about the "gift from our sponsor" message on their website, and I'm further confounded that said gift seems to be missing this month. BUT, I think the important thing with this box is to love getting artisanal gifts while supporting important charities.

The necklace is nicely made but is not my personal style and I have it up for swap.

I really like the name of the ministry they featured this month. According to the Strongs dictionary, Dunamis ( Greek word) means (miraculous) power, might, strength. Like dynamite! Miraculous power and strength — now that’s a wonderful thing to seek to pass on to/equip victims of sex trafficking with!
