New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Review – September 2016
New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full-size beauty samples and you also get a digital subscription to New Beauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general, the value is usually great.
This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Subscription Box: New Beauty Test Tube
The Cost: $29.95 a box plus $8.95 shipping (ships every other month)
The Products: Deluxe and full-size beauty products. (This subscription also includes a subscription to New Beauty Magazine).
Ships to: US only
Each box comes with a booklet detailing the items included. This month is a complete takeover from the brand It’s a 10!
We also got a teaser hint about the November box:
Bigger tube? More products? I’m intrigued!
It’s a 10 Miracle Whipped Shampoo – FULL SIZE! Value $25
I normally can’t tell a difference in shampoo with my hair – it’s usually the conditioner where I really see the difference. But this shampoo! I can totally feel a difference in my hair – it’s so soft!
(And like all It’s a 10 products, I think it smells fab, too.)
It’s a 10 Miracle Defrizzing Gel – FULL SIZE! Value $17
This is one of those products where a little goes a long way – this tube should last you months! I used this post-shower and let my hair air-dry. I didn’t see a huge difference in curl definition, but it seemed to give my hair more volume, and no crunchiness.
It’s a 10 Miracle Styling Potion – 1.5 oz Value $1.20
I assumed this was the full-size version since I only needed to use a little at a time, but this is a deluxe sample (that should last a while).
I love this styling creme because it works both on damp or dry hair. It makes my hair soft, deals with frizzies and doesn’t add any weight.
It’s a 10 Miracle Whipped Styling Balm – FULL SIZE! Value $25
I tried this out on damp hair like the other styling products in this box and couldn’t really determine the difference between this and the other items. Then I looked it up online – this is designed to help with blow drying and heat styling.
(And it’s another product where a little goes a long way!)
It’s a 10 Miracle Moisture Shampoo – 2 oz Value $2.60
This came with a matching travel-sized conditioner:
It’s a 10 Miracle Daily Conditioner – 2 oz Value $2.60
I used this set together and again, was happy with the results. (Admittedly, it’s a little tough to differentiate the hair results when you use both a new shampoo, conditioner, and styler at once – but I can tell you the final results were much softer hair!)
It’s a 10 Miracle Hair Mask – 2 0z Value $7.50
I love a hair mask that only takes 2-3 minutes! This one I used only on the ends of my hair as I was worried about overdoing it and ending up with greasy roots.
I think I would have noticed more of a difference in my hair if I hadn’t already been using all my other It’s a 10 products!
Verdict: This box has a value of about $80.50. I think the value is great, especially for me, since I love the It’s a 10 brand, and I’ll use every drop of every product in this box!
On the flip side, takeover boxes are always a little riskier for companies if they don’t work for a customer. (Or also, if you don’t want all hair products.)
What do you think of the September New Beauty Test Tube? Do you love It’s a 10 as much as I do?
