PupCrate is a subscription box for dogs. They only send treats that are made in the USA. Choose from a small dog box (0-20 pounds), a medium dog box (20-50 pounds), and a large dog box (50+ pounds). PupCrate had me in the system for a box for a smaller dog than Nyx (who is an 83-pound Rottweiler) but that should be fixed for September onward.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Included was a card with more information about the items in the box.
No Spill Bowl by Petmate – Value $8.45
This bowl is supposed to keep your dog from splashing water everywhere when s/he drinks. It is a good idea, but a little small for Nyx, plus she would destroy it (it is plastic) in about 3 seconds flat. So this will be passed on to another dog owner.
Slow Poke the Turtle by Zippy Paws – Value $9.99
One day, thanks to subscription boxes, we will have tried every ZippyPaws toy ever made. But, Nyx does like them. This has six squeakers (one in each section of the turtle’s shell) and it lasted a reasonable amount of time (for us, about five minutes, but Nyx is super destructive).
Squeak Air Tennis Ball by KONG (medium) – Value $2
Nyx loves tennis balls and she loves things that squeak even more. This is a big hit.
Maple Bacon Puppy Scoops (6 oz) – Value $6.99
This is a product you mix with water, then put in the freezer. Nyx can’t have it because it contains soy, but my mom’s dog loves this stuff so I will send it on to her. (This has dairy ingredients but is lactose free, so it should be fine for many dogs.)
Healthy Dogma Blissful Banana Crisps (6 oz) – Value $6.81
The ingredients here are bananas and coconut oil only. I don’t think Nyx has had bananas before, so I am going to try these on her once we are through adjusting her medications. I am sure she will be excited!
Here are some pictures of Nyx playing with the turtle toy.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $34.24 for the August PupCrate. That is about $5 over the cost of the subscription on a month-to-month basis, which is pretty good for items that are still currently in production (i.e., not closeouts). Nyx enjoyed the toys and will be able to try the banana treats, so I am happy.
What do you think of the August 2016 PupCrate dog subscription box? Do you subscribe to any dog or cat boxes?
