This is the letter that arrived in this month’s box. This month’s SUPER box included a 3D Virtual Reality Headset! Next month, they will be sending out at least one SUPER box containing a Segway miniPro! How exciting! This month there is also a 20% off coupon code for

This is a separate notice about the 20% off coupon for

This card was also included, entitling the bearer to lots of deals and freebies at different restaurants and retailers in exchange for sharing on social media.

The final piece of literature included this month was this coupon for Hello Fresh.

Golla Laptop Bag 16″ – Value $32.99 (link is to a very similar Golla bag)

Wow! Check out this awesome and stylish laptop bag! It is super padded for insurance against my klutziness. This is great! I like the design, and I love that it has pockets for everything conceivable.

Microwave Pizza Plate – Value $5.51

I guess if you microwave pizza a lot this could be useful. It’s also good for “bacon sausage meat” per the description. We try to not use the microwave much, so I’m not sure what I will do with this.

Storage Box – Value $3?

Haha! There’s no way the Mystery Box people could have known this, but clearly a box is the last thing I need. After wrangling boxes all day, I cannot even bring myself to assemble this one. Please forgive me. It’s fairly sturdy construction. I couldn’t find it for sale online, so the value is a guess.

Double Wall Acrylic Glass with Straw – Value $10 (link is to an almost identical glass from the same manufacturer)

This is a cute glass. Its listed on the Slant Collection website as a 13 oz. wine glass, but I think it’s more well-suited to frozen alcoholic treats like daiquiris!

Slushy Magic Max – Value $7.99

I tend to steer clear of products that include things like “maximum snowflake science” in their promotional material, to be honest. I honestly can’t quite figure out how it could even work, but if you’d like to learn more about Slushy Magic Max, they have a really energetic video on their website. This one is a bit of a miss for me, unfortunately.

Smart Home Nonstick Pan and Daisy Spatula – Value $15? (Sorry, I couldn’t find this for sale online anywhere! The value is a guess.)

I am dubious about the effectiveness of a spatula shaped like this, but I totally needed a new medium-size nonstick pan! Score!

Verdict: No matter what’s inside, the Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome is sure to entertain! This month I received about a 50/50 split of things I will use versus things I won’t. But, as usual, the retail value of everything combined (about $74) far outstrips the $25 purchase price, so I’m happy. I’m not sure what I will do with some of these items I don’t need, but honestly, the fun of just opening the box and seeing what’s inside is almost worth the purchase price to me!

What do you think of the Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome? What did you get?

  1. Has anyone not received their upgraded box from August yet? Here it is October, and still have not received mine. I have contacted customer service and all I get is the run around each week same story “its shipping by the end of the week” for three weeks now!

  2. Never received my upgraded box…after messaging them three times finally got someone to respond through Facebook, with whom gave me a completely different tracking number which has been processing since Aug. I’m supposed to get the bag…but we will see. Customer service told me they were experiencing delays.

  3. This box was fun at first. It is now easier to cherry items you want now that they started putting up the items on 13deals at really low prices and offering them as “daily deals”.

The golla bag is the perfect example. We felt good about the box before seeing the bag offered for 9.99.

We unsubbed from the big box and going to try the mini for a couple months.

    • I just got the August mini today and it sucks! I’m so pissed, lol. I saw reviews of people who got the speaker and 2 cool other items…a balloon lantern and that globe looking hanger for scarfs or whatever. I got the speaker, a flint and striker, and a ceramic knife and peeler set. I have plenty of knives and peelers and what in the heck would I use a flint and striker for? To light my cigarette??? lol. The last 2 items must cost like $1.00.

I was their biggest fan, I wrote a huge review of my own below here hahah….but not quite sure anymore. Like you said Mark if we can just buy the items on their site for cheaper than their supposed retail why bother with the box.

One more month and I’m cancelling, I can’t believe I’m saying that because I have only got the large box one time and the mini twice and I’m already upset at my items. 🙁

    • Mark I wrote a long post replying to you around 2pm today, but yet again it disappeared? I have no idea why, I’ve posted here before, even in this thread???

      • I just got my mini-box and it is the worst one yet. I also got the $3 bluetooth speaker (which does ot work), $1 flint/striker & $1 ceramic knife/peeler.

        Unsubscribing for good this time.

  4. Does anyone’s tracking number work for them? This is my second mini box (well will be if I ever get it) and both months now the tracking number never works

    • I just started the mini this month and when I try to use my tracking number it just says the package information has been recieved and I got the tracking number 5 days ago. I don’t know if that means that the tracking is not working of if they just haven’t sent it yet. Its a little disconcerting since it seems like a lot of people think this company is flaky or shady.

      • I just got a reply from their customer service department today, when I either asked for more concrete information or wanted a refund because I’m not paying for something I never received. This is what it said:

        “Hi there,

Again, we are sorry for the delay on your shipment. However, the warehouse has advised that all mini boxes have left the facility, and scans should start to update within 24-48 hours. If you do not see any movement by Thursday, please let me know.

I’m not able to cancel the box or issue a refund due to it being in transit.

        Best wishes,

I don’t know, that still sounds super shady to me. It’s been well over a week since my box was apparently shipped, and it’s still going to take another day or two for the tracking information to show that? If I ever get it, this is going to be both my first AND last time dealing with this company.

    • I’m having the same issue. Ordered my first Mini Box on 8/2, it was apparently shipped quite some time ago, more than a week, and my tracking information hasn’t changed at all. I tried contacting customer service but they still haven’t gotten back to me. It’s going to be going into September soon here and I still haven’t gotten August’s box. I love the randomness of this subscription but it’s no good if you never get it! I want my $9.99 back, this company seems so sketchy now and I’m beyond aggravated.

    • I actually came to this post to see if anyone else was having issues with their mini box shipping. I wrote over a week ago and Miranda responded with a tracking number. Five days went by and the tracking number did not even show the package was actually received by UPS for shipment. I wrote again to request a refund, but I got basically the same response as Lindsay. I already cancelled for September. I understand that shipping can take time, but the whole premise of a monthly sub box service is to provide the August box IN AUGUST.

    • My tracking number always works for me. I do have a question to Anna or Liz…This month my charge came in as Paypal Pro??? Just wondering if this happened to anyone else?

  5. Love the bag and if anyone wants one, 13deals has it for $18 with free shipping. Had high hopes for that fry pan….but it is really thin thus it cooked uneven and the spatula’s daisy wasn’t strong enough to flip the pancake.

Love the random concept of this box but will only be keeping/using the bag. Should have just bought it for $18 and saved a couple bucks.

    • Just checked to see if they had any of the bags left and it is now down to $9.99.

I’m cancelling my subscription. Value just isn’t there.

  6. I got the exact same items, and I can use all of them, best box I have received from them, and the value of the products for the amount of the box is amazing…..the laptop bag alone is worth more than what we pay for the box,so everything else is free

  7. I really liked this box. My son is forever buying the little personal pizzas so he will test out the tray. We had the exact same thought on the spatula–cute as can be but not sure how it will work. Love the pan, and I needed a nice laptop bag so big wins there. My sister loves slushies so I am saving that for her for Christmas. 🙂

I always love the boxes from this company. I get my money’s worth in usable items and it’s always so interesting to open!

    • That slushie maker works well. We had our doubts, works best if you freeze ice cubes overnight. I received my box 2 weeks ago and my daughter has used the slushie maker at least 10 times, she loves it! Shake shake shake really good for a minute or more.

I also received everything you did, except I received 2 of the acrylic glasses with straws. Score! We also needed a frying pan that size, I just threw out our other one. I have tried pans like this before, the bottom gets burnt eventually, not very well made, but we needed one, so another score for me!

I’ve been sharing out a link to a product of theirs on twitter, so I am not sure if that’s why I received 2? I emailed them twice last week for sharing out a link (I didn’t think the first one went through correct) and I received an email back with a $5.00 credit code to use at their site! They are having a sale right now on some products, the laptop bag is only $9.99. I bought 2 necklaces just for fun and at the end it asks if you want 2 surprise products for $0.98 so I ordered 2. My total was $4.94 for 2 necklaces and 2 surprise items including shipping.

For me, this is the best box, much better than a million lotions, hair oils, makeup laying around, not being used. If I like a particular product I like to stick with it, not trying a new product every month. I don’t like the pizza plate, so I will gift it to someone for Christmas, that’s the best about this box, they aren’t tiny bottles of girly stuff, they are full size things that if I don’t like, I’m sure someone will. I haven’t received the mini box yet, yes I subscribe to both, lol. But my daughter is psyched to get the Bluetooth speaker!

If you ever need a reviewer for this or the mini box, I would love to do it as you can tell…hahaha

  8. I just come here for the randomosity of this box.

    • right! lol

    • So true. I can find all this stuff on Wish. Com for 1 to 2 dollars and somethings a few dollars more. I love a mixed box of goodies and love a surprise but I realized I want to be able to use what I get so I just buy where they prob gets there stuff…. China….. Love the idea though.

  9. This month was a win for me. I believe I will get use out of pretty much everything. I already have a different version of the slushy magic and it does work. Even if you don’t want to use it for that, the cubes keep drinks cold without watering them down. I am hooked on this box so far because it is so much fun!

  10. I got the bag, an ostrich pillow, a tshirt, wine chiller, and closet lights–I really just wanted the bag (which I LOVE) but happy with the other stuff, too. Win!

    • I got the same box as you did. The bag is extremely nice and worth the price of the box. But was slightly disappointed and was hoping to get some of the products that this reviewer got in their box. I plan on keeping the wine chiller and the ostrich pillow might be useful on the train but the rest of the products I plan on giving away. I also got a pedicure set and a Woodbox small box (cardboard) in mine. I didn’t get any of the flyers or discount information though.

  11. Another delightful and funny review from Anna. Thanks for your fun comments.

    • Awww thank you Virginia! You made my day!

  12. The RV I came up for the bag is $44 for the bag based on another one of their other websites. If anyone is trying to swap for this, please keep in mind its big, well made and one of the heavier items to ship and wont fit into even a medium size flat rate box, maybe a large flat box.

My fav item in this box is the pan and the spatula. One thing that I like about this box compared to many other boxes is its very useable, and the items are shareable. Reminds me of Peaches and Petals (owned by the same company) except more practical
