Each month includes an information card detailing each item in the box.

Arcade Block August 2016 - 7

Eye of Truth Shirt - Value $15?

This month's shirt has Zelda as the featured franchise. This is found in Zelda: Ocarina of Time. As someone who is not a fan of Zelda - it feels like every box has something from Zelda in it!

Arcade Block August 2016 - 8

Super Mario K'Nex Blindbag - Value $7 on Amazon

The second item of the month features Super Mario and the gang. It's a blind bag from K'nex. You can receive one of a possible seven figures in this bag - I got Bowser!

It comes together piece by piece to create your character. What character did everyone else get?

Arcade Block August 2016 - 22

Tetris Heat Changing Mug - Value $5.50 on Amazon

The next item is a Tetris heat changing mug. I received a Pac-Man heat changing mug in my April 2015 Nerd Block as well - these are really fun, but not dishwasher or microwave safe.

As you fill it with your heated drink, watch the Tetris pieces fall into place!

Arcade Block August 2016 - 20

Five Nights at Freddy's Vinyl Figure - Value $5.39 on Amazon

I'm not familiar with this video game franchise, so I did some looking around. It looks cool! It's available on Steam and is a type of survival horror game.

Arcade Block August 2016 - 21

I ended up getting the ringleader - Freddy!

Arcade Block August 2016 - 2

SNES Classic USB Controller - Value $8.50 on Amazon

The final item this month was a retro SNES gamepad for your computer. With the amount of Steam games I've been receiving lately - this could come in handy!

Arcade Block August 2016 - 3

Here's a closer look at it. It certainly brings back memories! I never owned an SNES system, but had numerous friends with the system, so, like everyone who grew up in the '90s, I'm very familiar with it!

Verdict: I'm very on the fence with this month's Arcade Block. I didn't love it, but I also didn't hate it. I like the little Mario figure and Tetris mug, and if I get use out of the controller - then it's a good value for me. I'm quickly getting over receiving so many Zelda items in the video game themed boxes - I'd love to see them expand a bit more, there are a lot of video games out there!

Five Nights at Freddy’s is fun, but creepy. It’s mostly jump scares, though. My girls like to watch other people play it on YouTube. We have the game, but can’t get passed the second night ourselves. lol 🙂

Maybe you should give Zelda a try – then you will get excited instead of bummed out. 😉

I do agree though, they could diversify these boxes a lot. Seems like every box has either Mario or Zelda. Even if they wanted to stick with retro, there are a ton of franchises out there! Starfox, Donkey Kong, Mortal Kombat, etc.

Square. Sigh. I wish there were more Final Fantasy in all of these different fandom boxes out there.

Oh gosh, me too. I bought a whole sub box for a gunblade necklace. I’d also love to see some Dragon Age. Just once. :/

Stellar box…but Super Mario, Tetris and Zelda are big fandoms for me personally.

PS…my inner geek insists that I must tell you, its Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Not Truth.
