New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full-size beauty samples and you also get a digital subscription to New Beauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general, the value is usually great.

Each box comes with a booklet detailing the items included. There is some variation in products subscribers may get, and the booklet typically covers all possible items. (There are usually some items not pictured in the booklet as well - I'm guessing these items will have more variation).

Test Tube-031

Goldwell Kerasilk Color Shampoo - 1 oz Value $3.30

Goldwell Kerasilk Color Intensive Luster Mask - 25 ml Value $6

Test Tube-030

My hair is color treated, so I was excited to try these - plus I love that New Beauty Test Tube sent out the set and not just a shampoo or conditioner!

The shampoo has a lot of lather, so a little goes a long way!

Test Tube-032

This hair mask left my hair feeling softer than my regular conditioner. Both of these products are also supposed to keep your color from fading. I can't really weigh in on that from only a few uses, though!

Test Tube-011

Leaders Cosmetics Balancing Recovering Mask - Value $7

Leaders Cosmetics Blueberry SuperFood Mask - Value $6

Test Tube-012

These sheet masks are designed to be worn for 10-15 minutes. I found this one to be gentle, but the remaining formula left a slightly tacky finish on my skin. I used this as my only skincare routine before bed and I liked how moisturized my skin felt in the morning. (Tacky finish was gone, too!)

Test Tube-013

One thing to mention with these sheet masks - I found the outer layers on both sides of the actual mask a little tricky to remove. (In fact, if I wasn't looking for the pieces to remove, I probably would have assumed the whole thing should just go directly on my face!)

Test Tube-042

fave4 Up For Air Air Dry Cream - 1 oz Value $2.90

This hair styling cream is designed to give you "tousled texture" and "effortless waves." My hair is naturally wavy, so I wasn't sure if I'd see much of a difference with this product, but I had to give it a try.

I applied to damp hair and let it air dry. The look wasn't too different than my normal air-dry look, so I'm thinking this product will have more of an impact for people with straight hair. That being said, I definitely could tell a difference in the feel of my hair. It added texture, and dealt with frizz, so I'm still happy!

(Plus, it is color-safe and free of parabens and sulfates!)

Test Tube-034

Probelle Nail Hardener Formula 1 - Value $14

Probelle Nail Maintenance Formula 2 - Value $14

Test Tube-035

This formula is designed to strengthen nails. I tried it out and also liked the shine it added.

Unfortunately, I tried it before reading the ingredients! I was very surprised to see that both of these nail treatments are made with formaldehyde.

Test Tube-036

So these polishes won't be for me, but I did find the ingredients of the formula 2 interesting - it's made with garlic and lime as well - to help restore whiteness of the nails and protect against fungus. (Fingers crossed that that is the first and last time I have to write "fungus" in a review!)

Test Tube-026

Denman D12 Three-Row Comb - Value $6

Test Tube-028

This unique design definitely made it easier to comb through hair than a typical comb. New Beauty also recommends using to produce major volume with back-combing. (If you have tips for back-combing without damaging your hair, let me know!)

Test Tube-033

GrandePrimer - FULL SIZE! Value $25

I don't normally use primer on my lashes, but I don't mind it either. This one really built out my lashes before I applied mascara so I drastically cut down how many layers of mascara I applied to get the same result. Plus it made it easier to remove my mascara at the end of the day. I think I'm hooked!

Test Tube-037

Osmosis Skincare Polish Enzyme Firming Mask - 7 ml Value $9

Great news - this mask smells like cherries! You leave it on for 5-15 minutes, then remove, and you get instantly softer, smoother skin! This mask is a new favorite of mine!

Test Tube-043

June Jacobs Neroli Hydrating Mist - 1 oz Value $5.70

This is one of my favorite discoveries in the box! It's a refreshing mist you can use as a toner after cleansing your skin, and you can use it throughout the day as a refresher for your skin/makeup. (I absolutely love the summery scent, too.)

Test Tube-041

VersaSpa Face Moisturizer Gradual Tanner - .25 oz Value $4.40

I've sampled this facial tanner before, and I like it! The formula gave me a subtle color which worked with my skin tone - I'm happy to have more of it.

Test Tube-040

Mystic Tan Mocha Kissed Bronzer Lotion - 1 oz Value $5.80

This lotion has a matte bronze color, and it absorbs very quickly. It smells fantastic, too! It also is a subtle self-tanner. You can wear it every day to build color.

Test Tube-038

Novex Keratin Hair Cream - 100 g Value $1.70

I liked the results of this mask - it made my hair very soft. I wasn't crazy about the ingredient list, though (parabens), so it isn't something I'll buy in full-size.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $111. That value is great, and I'll use everything besides the nail treatments, so this box is a hit for me. My favorite discoveries are the Osmosis Mask and the June Jacobs Mist. I'm also happy to see New Beauty including some new brands this month!

I was wondering about the magazine myself. I subscribed in April, and I have yet to see one.

The website shows a LOT more products “featured in this tube”, so I’m not sure if they are varying boxes or if you are supposed to get all the products. I didn’t see anything on the website which is confusing

Britt?

I got the same products.. I’ve been with them for awhile now & always received the same products as Liz. So, I think on the website they probably advertise the “best of” over from recent tubes and display it. Rather than the exact things included. I believe it’s to give you an idea of their products, but you know~ they put the “most popular” higher value products to lure you in. But, I’ve never been disappointed with a tube & have honestly found the most products that I’ve actually repurchased/added to my routine from New Beauty Test Tube. It’s a really good subscription! (not for makeup, but higher quality skincare/hair care/tools). I highly recommend it!

The magazine comes as a subscription in the mail like a regular magazine sub. I didn’t get the shampoo in my tube, but contents have varied some in the past compared to what other people get. I am usually happy with my New Beauty test tube. This one was kind of a bummer for me because I don’t use these types of masks, but I do have lots for swapping!

Thanks I’ll update the review. Not sure why I thought they went to the digital subscription instead of the print!

And sorry this wasn’t a good box for you. Hopefully those masks are popular in swaps!

Are you doing anything differently with your photography? Is it just me? You’re pictures look brighter, or just different somehow (for the better, I think). I’d love to know how you do it! ? Another great review! I haven’t sub’d to this one in a long time, are they not actually sending the magazines anymore? That was part the fun for me but I’ll admit I didn’t always have the time to read them so they’d be swapped or given away.
