First Comes Love by Emily Giffin - Retail Value $28 (On Amazon for $16.80)

Book summary from Amazon:

Growing up, Josie and Meredith Garland shared a loving, if sometimes contentious, relationship. Josie was impulsive, spirited, and outgoing, Meredith hardworking, thoughtful, and reserved. When tragedy strikes, their delicate bond splinters.

Fifteen years later, Josie and Meredith are in their late thirties, following very different paths. Josie, a first grade teacher, is single—and this close to swearing off dating for good. What she wants more than the right guy, however, is to become a mother—a feeling that is heightened when her ex-boyfriend’s daughter is assigned to her class. Determined to have the future she’s always wanted, Josie decides to take matters into her own hands.

On the outside, Meredith is the model daughter with the perfect life. A successful attorney, she’s married to a wonderful man, and together they’re raising a beautiful four-year-old daughter. Yet lately Meredith feels dissatisfied and restless, secretly wondering if she chose the life that was expected of her rather than the one she truly desired.

As the anniversary of their tragedy looms, and painful secrets from the past begin to surface, Josie and Meredith must not only confront the issues that divide them but also come to terms with their own choices. In their journey toward understanding and forgiveness, both sisters discover that they need each other more than they knew—and that in the search for true happiness, love always comes first.

I'm only a few chapters in, but I'm already invested! I like how different Josie and Meredith are, and the alternating narrative works well with this book too. It's definitely the type of book that you can get lost in for a whole day!

Jill's Handmade Stuff Bookmark - Value $12

This is such a beachy box - I love it! It really makes me wish summer wasn't already half over.

CozyReaderClub-051

I really like the colors on this beaded bookmark, too.

Miss Mac Handmade Tote Bag - Value $25

This tote bag is well-made and sturdy - I actually thought it would retail for more! And you can reverse the tote for to make the golden sparkle burlap lining the exterior, too.

Dave's Sweet Tooth Toffee in Dark Chocolate - Value $6

CozyReaderClub-033

I couldn't sample this because it is made with dairy, but my husband Eric was more than happy to help sample devour it! He said it was softer than typical toffee, which made it super easy to munch on. Plus, it was absolutely delicious!

Carpo Coffee Tosa Terroir Roast - Value $8

This coffee comes from the Pocos de Caldas region of Brazil. Coffees extracted from this region are known for bright acidity yet a creamy body. My husband, Eric, is the coffee drinker in our house, and he really liked this blend. (And he's officially a fan of Cozy Reader Club thanks to the coffee and toffee in this box!)

Verdict: This box has a value of about $68 (that's with the discounted Amazon sale price of the box). I think that's an OK value if you sign up with the $5 off for life coupon ($60 a month). Cozy Reader Club is still on the high-end in terms of cost for a monthly book box, so it probably isn't for everyone, but I think they do an excellent job delivering on their promise of what you can expect in a box, and everything always feels special! This box is definitely about the experience!

I really got the beach read vibes from the theme this month, too.

Everything but the book looks great. I am an avid reader but this is not my type of reading. If they allowed you to pick a genre for your box it would be worth buying.
