How are you analyzing what items are most wanted? When I look at the swap site I see only items available for swapping. Am I overlooking a function that shows what people are in search of?

This is a list of items that get the most requests in the past month. It’s internal data, but we always show the most requested item for the past 24 hours in the right bar of this site if you’re looking at it on a desktop view.

Hope that helps! 🙂

Having the “in search of” function visible would make swapping a lot easier for everyone. If I’m looking for product X and 12 people have it available, I’d like to be able to first approach someone that has something in their closet that’s of interest to me. Beats approaching someone blindly with “I’m looking for X, whadda ya looking for?” And then working through 11 people before you find someone. I don’t have that kind of patience!

Are you selling the data to subscription boxers? It seems like it’d be very valuable for them to know what is *really* popular.

Perhaps there is another way of analyzing the data that would be more interesting? Popsugar has a large subscription base, and tricked subscribers into signing up to get multiple boxes for at least December, but also January for some subscribers who didn’t get it sorted out. So it isn’t surprising that items that had loads of copies on the site would be requested a lot. I’m not sure what data set would be better, though. And everyone who likes the clock/frame should make their own!

I sold two of those, kept three of those, trying to sell another one, and desperately want another 🙂

Doesn’t most requested also mean the items most often put up for swap because they weren’t wanted? It kind of goes both ways, it seems.

Not really. For example, maybe 3 people listed the PopSugar bin but 50 people requested it. It’s not a 1:1 ratio.

That explains why I can’t seem to swap for the Pehr bin no matter how hard I try. I think I will just head to Marshalls and see what kind of bins they have. I had the Shoptiques listed hoping someone would want that for one if my followed items, but it didn’t seem to work out.
