luxor-box-jan-2016-throw

Bliss Home & Design Faux Fur Throw - Value $100

I LOVE this throw! (In addition to my full-time subscription box addiction, I'm also a part-time faux fur addict). It looks and feels so luxe, and I like that the lining is fleece:

luxor-box-jan-2016-lining

Subscribers received either: Faux Fox White Fur, Faux Sheared Beaver Fur (that's what I got), or Faux Dark Chocolate Channeled Mink Fur.

luxor-box-jan-2016-mug

Mottahedeh Snowflake Mug - Value $45

If you are wondering how a mug could cost $45, this is not your ordinary mug:

Mottahedeh has partnered for the first time with National Geographic utilizing their extensive phographic library. The Snowflake pattern shows Wilson A "Snowflake" Bentley's photomicgraphs taken on January 15, 1885 that were originally published in National Geographic's magazine in January 1904. Mottahedeh has reproduced these photomicrophs playfully floating the irregular shaped porcelain dinnerware using silver, blue, and white enamels to add dimension to these beautiful and actual snowflake designs.

While I probably wouldn't spend $45 on a mug, it is great getting one at a discount in a subscription box. And it really is a beautiful mug too. (Detailed photo below).

MarieBelle Aztec Hot Chocolate - Value $12

And for a Warm & Cozy themed box you need cocoa to go in the mug!

luxor-box-jan-2016-candles

Pura Botanica Candle Tins in Fulfill Mint and Sweet Chai - $26 total

These candles are made with 100 percent cosmetic-grade soy wax infused with natural essential oils. And they smell SO good! My favorite it the Sweet Chai, but the Mint scent is fabulous too.

Pura Botanica Lend a Hand Creme Smoother - Value $10

This hand cream is super moisturzing, and the vanilla scent is very subtle.

luxor-box-jan-2016-salts

Pura Botanica Botanic Bath Infusions in Lost in Lavender and Pick Me Up - Value $22 total

More wonderful smelling items - I am officially a huge fan of Pura Botanica! I can't wait to use these.

luxor-box-jan-2016-scarf

Jules Smith Designs Crochet Tube Scarf - Value $45

In the winter I tend to stick to dark clothing, so this scarf matches just about everything I wear!

luxor-box-jan-2016-wrapped

It has a loose tube weave, so you can actually open up the tube and wear it as an infinity scarf instead!

luxor-box-jan-2016-socks

Etiquette Ivory Cashmere Socks - Value $44

These are 10% Cashmere, 45% Merino Wool, 30% Viscose, 15% Nylon. I think of these socks like I think of the mug - buying them at the retail price would be a splurge for me, but getting them at a discount in this box is a great way to get luxe items. And of course they go with the cozy theme very well!

Verdict: This box has a retail value of about $304. I think that value is great for a luxe box. This is probably my favorite Luxor Box of all time - it feels like it was made for me! I will use everything included, (my husband Eric will enjoy the hot cocoa), and I think they did a great job with the theme this month too.

What do you think of the January 2016 Luxor Box?

I misplaced my pura botanica product card, I wanted to utilize the promo code to place an order. If anyone doesn’t mind sharing it please let me know.

Thanks 🙂

I felt like the box was OK and that was about the best I felt about it. I do like my throw. It is very soft and warm. I have no feelings towards the mug. It doesn’t really go with my home or my dishes and I still can’t believe they charge $45 for a mug. I read the story behind it but I still wouldn’t ever consider buying it, even if it were $5. I haven’t tried the hot cocoa yet so I am anxious to taste it. The candles are ok but there are colors running in the wax like they are old or just cheap candles. The hand creme will be nice to throw in my purse. I live in South Florida and I rarely wear socks, however this is a rare cold winter we have been having the past several weeks so I am sure I will get some use out of them. They are very plain tho, hopefully they feel great on. I am going on a trip skiing so they will come in handy as well when I head West. The bath crystals, I have a shower and no tub, I will probably list them on the swap site. I know a lot of people loved this box but nothing in it really excited me or made me feel joy. I was really looking forward to this box-it may be just not quite my taste. I will find use for most of it but overall I just wasn’t thrilled about it for what I paid.

I’m going to say this because it’s my opinion. I’ve owned MANY fur coats and also faux fur items, of course.
I got the WHITE throw, and all it looks like to me is a bunch of white cut yarn- type fibers. I think this is the poorest quality, ugliest faux fur throw I’ve ever seen. I HATE it, and although I may be a bit picky, the problem with this one is that it is NOT sheared like the other two. The fibers are exceptionally long. Looks like one of those old bathroom rugs, actually.

IF you have a gray or brown one and were thinking of trading it for a white one, my advice is- DON’T DO IT!!!
Or, ask for a close up photo of the white thing before you trade or buy one. I think it’s the most hideous looking ” faux fur” I’ve ever seen, but I do think the other two are really lovely.
BTW, they do still have some of these boxes available. All with white fur, so I wonder how many returns they’ve had? I believe I could find a defect without any trouble if they had another color in stock.

I did find a GORGEOUS brown sheared and sculpted faux mink throw the same size on a luxury website, and it’s less than the cost of a Luxor Box. It’s on sale, so you’d better believe I ordered one.
If anyone is interested in knowing the website where I got the really pretty brown sheared and sculpted faux mink throw, please email me at laura_brooks ( at) yahoo ( dot com).

I am not affiliated with any company at all. I’m just a housewife, so I am not trying to sell anyone anything. I’m sick about what I got so I did something about it.

Funny, I got the white one and love it.

Ha. Me too. Of course, I felt meh when I first saw it in the package. I pulled it out and fluffed it up. It is so soft and cozy. I already own an amazing faux mink brown and an amazing faux chincilla from Frontgate that I spent a pretty penny on. Those are extremely big and heavy so this white one is different and nice to have a lightweight yet substantial looking throw for the bedroom or sofa. I love how soft it is.

Tonya

I’m absolutely smitten with Luxor Box, and this might be my favorite box ever. You did a really great unboxing, Liz. It always makes me so excited for my box. I received the Faux Fox white throw but was wondering if there was anyone else out there interested in trading me for the Sheared Faux Beaver (the one in Liz’s picture)?

mslisa100

I got the white throw. So pretty and soft, but my pug Tater thinks its a big version of his Lambchop toy :-/
Love the whole box. Not crazy about the fact they bill for the next box the same time as when I signed up for this box, since the window for new subscriptions was in November after November was sold out . So I actually got charged for my March box before the January box ever shipped. If the month you sign up for is already sold out it seems like the billing should be delayed a month too. A minor gripe, perhaps, but be warned if you sign up you’re always going to get charged well in advance of the ship date. Makes the box a bit more expensive when you think about it that way.

Reply ButtonReply

Daisy

Yeah, I’ve already been billed for March. At least I know if I’m forced to cancel I’ll still get one more 😉

I was so excited to get my very 1st luxor box. I also purchased the valentines day box. (goodbye Popsugar LE and hello all Luxor boxes and LE’s). That said, I didn’t have a great experience. I quickly opened my box and was in love. This morning now that I just returned from a business trip in Atlanta, Kids dropped off at school and decided to be home for a little while before going into the office, I got to actually slowly open and go through the experience. That’s a rarity. Awesome! Until I unfolded the throw. It had threads everywhere and a hole. I took pictures immediately and Private messaged them on Facebook as this must be a rarity. I only did it on Facebook (PM) as I couldn’t find an email address where I could include pictures. They provided one and I emailed. They are asking that I return the throw, pay for 2nd day freight and they will ship another one. Pay for freight? This throw is honestly, a floor model. You can tell that it was not new as the threading is pulled everywhere. They are stating that it is because my box was tampered with. My box and all other items were perfect. I just don’t see the tampering. The outer and Inner Boxes were pretty darn perfect. I see a non acceptable floor model that was shipped by accident. Mistakes happen, I am a business owner and would never ask that my customer go through all of this hassle and expense. Especcialy with pictures. The Pictures are clear as day with about 20 threads in different spots open and pulling and a hole. I hope that they make this right. It doesn’t seem to be heading in that direction. I NEVER complain. I so rarely have issues (and then it is Popsugar related). I get about 8-12 boxes depending on the month. I was so excited. I really hope that they stand by their product, and own the mistake. I really hope to be a long term customer. I really love the items. Not loving the Customer Service right now.

I’m sorry to hear your experience has been less than stellar. There were several of us with melted chocolate in one of the LE boxes and they were prompt, and more than made up for it IMO!!! I hope they fix this for you!!!

Adele

I’m glad you posted this. I haven’t even taken mine out of the plastic, I’ll check when I get home and make sure it isn’t defective. They should pay for your postage and send you a new one!

Okay. Boy was I annoyed at first. Not anymore. Air has been let out of my balloon. I have been in Atlanta buying for my company (at market and I must sat, Faux Fur is on trend through 2016 and 2017. It was everywhere!) Luxor responded and I have to say, they responded very quickly today and Multiple times and made it perfectly right! This was my first experience with them and I am now happy. We have corresponded 4-5 times (same day folks and in the same hour time frame) and they pulled the very last brown (I had originally received brown) throw for me and sent me a label. I didn’t think my paying for shipping was right and they did the right thing. It truly was principle related on the shipping. I will be really happy when I receive the replacement and excited. I loved all of the other items in my box. I will be adding a spoonful of the chocolate to my coffee when I am dying for a treat. Hopefully I can stay carb free until Valentines Day. This will be my indulgent when I am dying for chocolate. I am very impressed with their customer service. I complained about my issue, they responded, then made it right all in the same day. I am shocked and grateful. I apologize if I came across super angry in my first pose above. It has been a hell of a day. I am not at top form. I am just so pleased at their fast response. I think I could say that over and over. I am happy I made the decision to change from Popsugar LE, to Luxor Le Boxes (Can’t wait for February!) and look forward to my every other month as well box. Just so impressed here.

Some of the throws are 20% off on the Bliss Home and Design site, if anyone is interested….

I received my box yesterday and i LOVE IT!!! I have been very happy with Luxor Box and they really did another great job this time! I received the mink faux fur throw in dark chocolate and absolutely love it! I even like the scarf that I wasn’t so sure about. I’m not a big scarf person, and I honestly feel like every box sends a scarf out, but this one is perfect and I’m wearing it at work today! The bath salts are fine, but since I don’t take baths, I think i’ll put them in a bag as sachets in my dresser draws!

Adele

It doesn’t look like my post went through. I received the white throw and would like to swap for a darker color. My email is: aihutch at yahoo dot com

Reply ButtonReply

Adele

Since I’m not on the swap site, I’m willing to email pics as proof that I have the throw.

Reply ButtonReply

Chieme

I have the same one as in the review. Would you be interested in trading?

Reply ButtonReply

Adele

Definitely, that one was my first choice.

Jerilynn

I got my box today and just love it. I got the white throw which is beautiful and the candles in chai and citrus, the bath salts in pick me up and mint. Everything in the box was wonderful! Even the scarf which originally I was meh about was great when I put it on. I am so glad I have been with Luxor from the beginning. I actually like their bi-monthly boxes better than their LE. My only question is how will they ever top this box?

Reply ButtonReply

Tia

I bought this box especially for the throw but I’m not a huge fan of everything else in the box. If I get my box and I don’t like the throw I might end up trying to sell it. I forgot where we post boxes we’d like to sell? Should I put it on the swap site or eBay?

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

I WOULD TRY TO SWAP! I KNOW THERE WERE A FEW THINGS I WOULD TRADE FOR OR BUY =)

Reply ButtonReply

Tamara

I just wish Luxor had the option to buy a pre-paid subscription, like most (?) other boxes do. I want to be able to ask for a Luxor sub for my birthday!

Reply ButtonReply

Angela

It’s a nice box, but I am going to try to sell the mug and the bath salts and maybe the lotion. If anyone is interested, let me know!

Reply ButtonReply

Susan

I can’t wait to get my box. It will be here Tuesday. I am in love with those socks. Luxor has been a great box to subscribe to. I might even like it more than box of style. Definitely more than Oui Please.

Reply ButtonReply

Mailbox Junkie

Holy cow! They are seriously starting the new year off on a perfect foot! I agree that as soon as my oui please expires I am re-subbing to this box!

Reply ButtonReply

Sarai

Well I’ve tried subscribing to this box 3x with my paypal and once with my husbands PayPal and nope….. Not going through. I even got a phone call from my bank on cause they thought I had a fraud activity on my account. (Funny but not funny lol). O-well it’s a sign that it’s not meant for me to subscribe.

Reply ButtonReply

Leah

Great box, although I’m disappointed in my throw color (I got the fox white). I would’ve preferred either of the other two. I’m a little surprised to see that the price hike that they warned about months ago is only $4! It makes me feel silly for begging them to purchase one of the last January boxes (when they said they were all sold out) just to get in on the old pricing!

I love the scarf, the candles, and the bag that the bath salts came in. I’ll probably try to sell the socks (just because I have no use for that color), the bath salts, and the throw. I would sell the mug (it’s really nice but I don’t drink anything hot so I have no use for it), but I don’t think it would help up in shipping. Despite everything I don’t want, I still think it’s a great box 🙂

Are you on the swap board? I’m looking for the white and will be happy to swap if I get one of the other colors. Lmk! 🙂

Susan

If you get dark chocolate I’ll swap with you. I have white.

Leah

No, I am not 🙁 I don’t really understand how the whole swapping system works and have just stuck with ebay. Maybe you’ll get lucky and get the white in your box! 🙂

mimi

Really looking forward to receiving mine.

This will be my first Luxor box (I signed up after the fur throw spoiler). I’m on vacation and now I’m so excited to get home!!! (I think that’s a sign that I have a problem…?) Thanks for the wonderful review Liz!

Disappointed I missed out on this box. Everything looks lovely and cozy. Perfect for winter. I seriously wish I would have skipped the Popsugar LE and got this instead. Lesson learned!

Laura B.

I have this box on the way, and if I get either the throw which Liz has or the White Fox one, I would really like to trade for the Chocolate brown one. My new tapestry duvet has a warm background which will not go well with either the gray or the white.

I am not on the swap site, because I’ve never wanted to swap my things in 4 years. 🙂
I have references on eBay which I will share if anyone wants, and will pay shipping in the continental US with reciprocal shipping by the other party.

In case anyone would like to trade, I’ll be posting which one I get as soon as my box gets here. Or you can contact me in a few days at:
e-mail :
Laura_Brooks at yahoo (.com)
Modified format in the usual way to not get more spam than Yahoo already sends, but name has the _ space.

Thank you to anyone who might want a white throw or a gray one if I get either one. I thought the tapestry duvet was neutral until I got it home and looked at it in natural lighting. Definitely has a golden beige background.

I’ll TOTALLY be up to trade! The dark brown one is the only one that I dont want because of my decor!

Hi Jodi! What color did you end up with? I have the same as the review. I would LOVE the chocolate one!!!
