Brandon Blackwood Red Crossbody Bag - Retail Value $320
This bag was made for this Luxor box! I typically go with brown and black leather bags, so this crossbody bag is a welcome and bright change! I also love the bold red color for Valentine's Day! Here is the other side:
And here it is with the added strap:
And inside there are lots of credit card slots plus a zipper pocket:
This bag is a little too small to fit my iPhone 6+, but it should work with smaller phones. (And alternatively without the strap it could work as a wallet).
Here it is on to give a better sense of scale:
I'm very impressed with the quality of this leather bag, and I think the color makes it feel even more special. One thing to call out though, I did notice a chemical smell that some readers mentioned as well. Brandon Blackwood commented on the site explaining:
The smell is from edge painting on the straps. Factory workers hand paint those thin edges on your bag so that the edge matches the color of leather. If you take a look at any leather bag you own you will see the edges of the leather (especially handles and straps) are painted. Because they have not been sitting in a warehouse for days to air out the smell is pretty strong. It will air out. This process happens to every bag. You guys just got you’re “hot off the press”.
I received this last evening and let it air out over night. I still can smell it today, but it is less, so that seems in line with the expectations Brandon set.
Heart and Swizzle Wine Set - Value $54
This set is made from Recycled Sandcast Aluminum, and I think it is a great addition to a Valentine's Day themed box. It would make a great hostess gift too, but unfortunately, Mariposa's packaging isn't the best on this item. The tie and glue holding this winestopper to the cardboard did not make it through shipping:
So unfortunately, the winestopper got a little dinged up in transit. Here it is:
The scratches are very minor and not really noticable unless I'm looking for then, but it does prevent this from being an item I would gift. These are both useful items to keep though, so that's OK! I saw some other readers commenting with this issue, but I hope most subscribers received their wine set in perfect condition!
Meredith Hahn necklace – Retail Value $315
This was the spoiler item for the box. When signing up for the box, you got to select silver or gold for this piece. Since it is such a high-value item for this box, I like that Luxor box spoiled it and let you pick - very smart!
(The gold is 18k vermeil and the silver is sterling silver).
Here is a closer look:
And here it is on:
This is a lovely piece, but something I probably wouldn't wear often enough to justify keeping it, so I'm doing a giveaway for this necklace at the end of the review - make sure to enter if you're interested!
All the love in the world book by Jesse Hunter - Value $10
Another great item for Valentine's Day! Here is a summary of the book:
A beautiful, uplifting collection of photographs celebrating the universal symbol of the love heart all over the world. In 2010, photographer Jesse and his partner Mikala embarked on a global photographic adventure, 650 days, 44 countries, and six continents, to frame the world in their own unique way. Jesse soon noticed certain things that he was photographing again and again. These things became collections, and the biggest collection, which came to over a thousand, was of love hearts. It was then that Jesse knew the love hearts had chosen him. All the Love in the World is the result of Jesse’s work, a beautiful, positive, and inspirational little book of photographs celebrating the fact that wherever you are in the world, the love heart is there with you.

Cacao Atlanta Company Sweet and Spicy Box of Love – Value $20
These chocolate truffles are hand painted and gorgeous! The flavors are: Antica Strawberry, Cayenne Passion Fruit and Aztec Aphrodisiac. Here is a closer look:
I just realized I don't have anything for my husband Eric besides a Captain America Valentine's Day card, so he'll be getting these on the 14th, too!
Verdict: This box has a value of about $719. I think that's a great value for a $200 box, and the curation feels very thoughtful too. I think this box would be an amazing Valentine's day gift! I wish the Mariposa packaging had been better, but besides that, no complaints!
