If you aren’t familiar with Golden Tote, here’s a really quick intro: Every month you get to pick out 1-2 pieces, and they surprise you with the rest. (The surprise items are completely different from the pieces you pick from). For the $149 tote, you pick 2 items, and get 3-4 more surprise items based on your style profile.

FYI – This is not a typical subscription, each month they release a new collection and you can decide whether or not you want to buy it.

As far as returns go, you can easily return your entire tote for a full refund. However, you can also return individual items, but any items you keep revert to their boutique price and you get charged the new total.

Color Me Trendy Top – value: $40?

I love the colors of this top and the cross front, but I’m not sure the style is 100% me. I like it, but the front is short (I’d have to wear a cami to make my stomach not show, which isn’t a big deal), the sleeves are an odd length, and I wish the collar were a traditional collar. All small things, but added together I just don’t know if I’m really going to wear this top much.

Puella Lovestruck Loungepant – value: $62

(74% cotton, 26% poly; cold water wash, lay flat to dry)

In my Valentine’s Day tote, I got the Puella Lovestruck Robe but had a heck of a time fighting over a size L in the lounge pant, and gave up on that. Fortunately they had restocked for this tote and I was able to snag a pair then! So, I’m super happy to have the little matching set. I wasn’t sure how well the pants would fit, but I’m really happy with them. They’re comfortable, the ankle cuffs are long enough, and the drawstring is great.

Now for my surprise items!

Ellison Waffle Knit Tunic Sweater – value: $35?

(100% cotton; wash in cold water, lay flat to dry)

I really like this sweater. It’s comfortable and fits well. I just wish there weren’t slits in the sides like that – I feel like that’s the only part of this top that makes it a “tunic.” Maybe it’d be longer on a shorter person, but for me it’s just a good, normal sweater length.

Lani Lace Skirt – value: $45?

(self: 90% nylon, 10% spandex; lining: 95% rayon, 5% spandex; hand wash cold, hang or flat dry)

This skirt is awesome, I just wish they had sized up. No matter how much I plan to try and shrink my tummy/thighs (which I’ve been wishing to do for years, even before having a baby, haha), I’m just not sure this isn’t just how my body is built. And that’s fine.

This skirt has a great, soft/comfy lining, and good stretch. I also love the length!

GOLDEN TOTE $149 TOTE FEB 2016 - items 5

Renee C Dot Wrap Dress – value: $60?

(95% rayon, 5% spandex; hand wash cold, hang or line dry)

I love this dress! It’s comfortable, versatile (pair with denim jacket to dress down, add bling and heels to dress up!), and the material is really soft and a thick knit. Wrap dresses are always so flattering.

Kalijati Waist Defined Dress – value: $70?

(100% polyester; Machine wash cold, tumble dry low or hang dry)

It’s amazing to me how differently 100% polyester things can feel. This dress’s fabric is thick and silky feeling and very comfortable. I think it fits great and is an awesome bold print.

Verdict: I love my January $149 Golden Tote! I think everything is great, almost all my style, and I’m happy with how well everything they send me always seems fits. I definitely think that’s due to their thorough style profile.

What do you think of my Golden Tote? Did you get a tote this month?

I hope you kept them all! I am crazy about that plaid top.

Dude that first top looks BANGIN on you! The colors are nice and vibrant, perfect for spring. Everything about the shirt is so unique! I went to art school for fibers (making art by sewing and what not) so I’m always interested in unique clothing. (I think) you look really awesome in the top, please don’t hesitate to take a risk and wear it! =D

I agree on first glance but after really looking at it, there is something about the cut that does not seem inviting to wear. Also, I think Haley is right about the collar and sleeves.

I love everything in your tote! I received my first tote this month. All tops or cardigans. Not a big hit but not a complete miss for me either. One top I couldn’t even get over my chest and another top I was swimming in. I did add the Color Me Trendy top to my bag but the snap was hanging on by a thread when I received it. Another blouse had a wonky side seam so the front hem was off center.

I got the same 2 dresses and the skirt with my orders recently, and love them all!

I think the skirt runs pretty small though so I sold mine. It looks great on you!

Haley, that box was a total home run for you! You look fabulous in everything (although I agree, there are oddities with the first shirt). I am amazed how perfect the surprise items are for you. That last dress, in particular, looks absolutely fantastic! Enjoy!!!
