Fandom of the Month Subscription Box Review – February 2016

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Fandom of the Month Club is a subscription box for fangirls (and fanboys)! They send jewelry and other goodies every month with a surprise theme.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out our review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Fandom of the Month Club

The Cost: $13 + $3.75 shipping = $16.75 / month

The Products: 3-4 handpicked fandom inspired jewelry items in a hand screen printed muslin drawstring bag, plus a custom postcard and a custom magnet

Ships to: US for $3.75, Canada for $8, everywhere else for $11.50

Check out the Geek Subscription Box Directory and make sure to add Fandom of the Month Club to your subscription list or wishlist!

The front of the postcard this month can be seen above, and this is the reverse side. This month’s theme is clearly Harry Potter! I have read several of the books, but I don’t think I’ve seen any of the movies.

Bellatrix Magnet – Value $3?

This month’s custom magnet features Bellatrix Lestrange, Lord Voldemort’s most dangerous, sadistic and foxiest witch / Death Eater.

The jewelry this month came in this custom screen printed bag. I like the mask!

Have You Seen This Wizard? Compact – Value $10?

I couldn’t find this exact compact for sale online, so the link above is to an almost identical one. This is cute, diferent, and totally useful! On the inside, one mirror is magnifying and the other is actual size.

The Dark Mark Symbol Earrings – Value $15

These earrings feature the Dark Mark, the symbol of Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Even for people who are not into Harry Potter, I think these could work with any sort of biker bar or generally evil costumery.

Horcrux Bracelet – Value $25?
(I couldn’t find this one online, but I found a very similar one priced at $25.)

This charm bracelet has a different charm for each of the 7 Horcrux. How clever! It has Nagini (the snake), Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup, Tom Riddle’s diary, Harry (the lighting bolt), Marvolo Gaunt’s Ring, Rowena Ravenclaw’s Diadem, and Salazar Slytherin’s Locket.

Verdict: I think Fandom OTM Club is great! All the items are fun and well curated, plus the value adds up to about $53. That’s fantastic for a box that costs less than $20! I am not the world’s biggest Harry Potter fan, though, which is kind of a bummer, but I am a geek / super geek when it comes to certain fandoms, so I look forward to seeing what they offer next month. I also want to point out what Fandom OTM Club says on their website about this issue:

“If you are a person who would be devastated by receiving merchandise from a fandom you don’t love, sadly this club is not for you. We hate turning people away, but we hate upsetting people even more!”

Very well said! It’s the risk you run when you’re a subscription box addict!

What do you think of Fandom OTM Club? Are you a Harry Potter fangirl (or fanboy)?

  1. I’d totally be willing to purchase the compact from anyone who doesn’t want it! I signed up for the subscription box right after this box came out and have been desperately searching for the compact everywhere!

  2. WANT!

I subscribe to another box these girls put out, Flitwicks, that is jewelry and I LOVE their pieces. I’m a big HP fan and that charm bracelet is amazing!!

  3. I received this box and the compact is AMAZING. I can’t even believe it was included along with all of the other awesome items for the price. I am not going to wear the charm bracelet and I don’t *need* the magnet so if anyone is interested, let me know. I also got December’s Star Wars box with light saber earrings and C3PO and R2D2 necklace and a Chewy magnet if anyone is interested in those (I’m not a huge Star Wars fan). I’ve been meaning to list them on my swap page but haven’t done it yet.

    • I would love to get the bracelet from you. Please and Thank you.

  4. This is an amazing box! (I’m a subscriber) Every month is a different theme and the jewelry is always amazing!

I do want to point out that the review says this is Feb box but it was actually January’s box.

    • Thanks for the catch Nicole! I didn’t know!

  5. I’ve subscribed to this box for several months now and am always impressed over the quality and care that is put into each one. Even if it’s a theme i’m not super excited about, I still enjoy it and give the pieces to friends or family members that would enjoy them more. The sisters that started this box are all talented and friendly people who honestly care about the products they sell. I’m not planning on quitting this sub anytime soon 🙂

  6. Just an FYI this is January’s box. The compact and bracelet were all designed by the creator so odds are you won’t find the exact thing online.

  7. I just went to their website and it says they are sold out.

    • I didn’t even bother to check b/c I figured it would be sold out! So sad. I’m loving that magnet too! I’m going to be trying to swap like a champ for those items, for sure! Maybe in the future they will do a sale of past boxes (like Loot Crate does occasionally). Cross our fingers, b/c I’ll be buying 2!

      • Check back after the first of the month. Sometimes spots open after the subs renew, especially if cards decline or people cancel. They are growing quickly and try to open additional spots when they can 🙂

        • I second that. They ran a great deal for black Friday and offered 3 months for $30 so everyone who took advantage of that got Dec., Jan. and Feb. so spots will probably open up for March.

    • Put your name on the wait list. You’ll get an email as soon as more spots open up. 🙂

  8. I’m a huge HP fan and would love these items! They are unique and stuff I would actually use. I got a twilight box once (from a different company) and it was a bunch of stuff that I would never use, like trading cards and action figures lol.

  9. I want this box so bad!! I’ve contacted them to see if they have any left…. If anyone wants to sell, please contact me!

  10. Ohhhhhh I want that compact AND charm bracelet! They are so adorable! Two of each actually! Reading Harry Potter together is how I helped my youngest sister overcome her debilitating issues with Dyslexia. HP holds a VERY special place in our hearts! Now she’s a third year law student! Thank you, J.K. Rowling for giving us such a beautifully and magically written world! And for helping my sister realize her amazing potential in academics!
