BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs. It’s one of our favorite subscription boxes – our dog loves it, and we’ve gifted it to dogs in our extended family as well!

BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds). Check out Ragan's review of last month's box for large dogs!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The info card no longer includes every item in the box, it only lists the 'Featured Item'. Instead, you have to download their app to find out information on all the items included and the theme.

This month's theme is Peace, Ruv, and Happiness.

Please note, I'm using the values from the app.

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon January 2016 - toys

Lucy's Magic Bus Toy - Value $8

Ozzie The Hippie - Value $10

This month's toys were both squeaky and plush, that's a win for our dog! These are the perfect size for him too - he seems to get really interested in a new toy for about 5 minutes, and then move on. But, every once in a while he'll have a favorite, like his little Chewbacca - we'll see if we can find a new favorite this month!

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon January 2016 - chew and treats

Duck and Pomegranate Treats - Value $7

There get Buckles' paw of approval! Our dog is a very picky eater, so when we find a soft treat he loves, they become a mainstay - so I'm glad we can get more on their BarkShop!

Lamb Ear - Value $4

While our dog likes chews, they tend to not agree with his stomach - so we'll have to pass this along to another dog! Nothing ever goes to waste!

BarkBox Subscription Box Review & Coupon January 2016 - chicken pot pie treats

Good Dog Chicken Pot Pie Treats - Value $5

Our dog is very, very, very picky about hard treats. I know when he drops it on the floor and lets me pick it back up that he's not interested at all. Another gift for a lucky dog.

Verdict: This month's value comes in at $34, which isn't too much of a value over cost, but this is in the ballpark of where each month falls for BarkBox. Our dog absolutely loves rooting through his box each month, and hates to wait while we take pictures! He's been getting one for over two years now, and we have definitely found some mainstay treats and toys from the box, so overall - we've been really happy!

You know that you can email them and tell them that your dog does not do well with certain treats and they will send you different ones, like the lamb ears your keep getting!

I feel like an idiot, but I can’t figure out the “giggle stick” in the hippie toy. Is there a secret to get it working?

I got the same box with the addition of another toy since we are part of the “Extra Toy Club”. My dog LOVED this box. I’m also happy to see that they seem to be taking into account our preference of soft toys over hard toys! Every item was hit this month!!! YAY!

Interesting, I get the large dog box and it had the same 2 toys. Treats were different however. I would expect maybe the treats to be the same, but not the toys!

We get the medium box, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what we’ll get this month.
