The Menswear Club Subscription Parcel Review December 2015 - 2

This parcel is sent via USPS 2 Day Priority Mail, so it arrived in the standard USPS packaging.  The box inside was anything but standard!  The outer box is a nice glossy black, with a paisley inner box.  It opens like a little drawer…they definitely score points for a cool box.  This month there was a postcard detailing all of the items included, which is always helpful!

The Tie Maker by Taft – The Hunter Silk Tie – $20.00

This is a very nice, classic tie.  It is 100% silk and the tag says that it is handmade in China.  The fabric feels great and the tie is 3 inches wide at the widest spot.  This tie looks like it will wear well, and the colors are perfect for winter.  I can see this tie being in the rotation for years, and still looking as good as new.

Brickell Men’s Products – travel size Shave Cream – $12.00

This shaving cream smells fabulous.  It smells minty and fresh to me but one of the reviewer’s on the Brickell website describes it as woodsy.  Whichever it is, it smells amazing.  The formula is very smooth and nonlathering – which is great since lathering generally means drying!  It has glycerin and jojoba oils in it to moisturize and lubricate while shaving.  It is meant to be used without a shave brush, so that’s one less thing to pack in your dopp kit!

Rebel’s Refinery Capital Vices Skull Lip Balm – $7.99

This lip balm is made of coconut and sweet almond oil, with some vitamin E thrown in for good measure, or antioxidants, whichever you prefer.  I believe I received the natural flavor, as the balm doesn’t have any scent to it.  I wish more boxes would send out scent-free items like this since so many people have allergies to essential oils, etc.  This balm is very emollient and soothing!

Yo Sox – Epic Christmas Socks – $9.95

These socks are definitely Christmassy – snowflakes, Christmas Trees, and reindeer – you can’t get much more Christmassy than that!  They feel like very high-quality socks, and they are very soft on the inside.  Some socks with designs can get scratchy on the inside because of all the extra thread – these are definitely not those socks!  In addition to the socks being very soft inside, the sole and toe of the socks are smooth, with no patterns minimizing the chance of irritation even less.

Ties.com Red Piped Flower Lapel Pin – $10.00

This lapel pin is made from white tipped felt.  The flower is very sturdy and doesn’t look like it would crush easily.  The pin part of the lapel pin doesn’t feel like it would bend easily, which is great!  The pin came in its own box, making it perfect for gifting (if you received this box before the holiday – I received it a few days after Christmas).  I like that the color scheme would go with Christmas, but it doesn’t scream Christmas so it’s usable after the holiday season.  I can see it being great for Valentine’s Day, or even the Fourth of July when worn with a navy suit.

The Verdict:  This Menswear Club shipment has a value of about $59.94.  I am quite happy with the value and the products this month!  I think the curation was spot on, with items that can be used for the holidays:  a travel-sized shaving cream for those that are traveling during this season, a moisturizing lip balm, festive socks, a tie that can be used year round, and a fun accessory that adds a bit of pizzaz to any suit.

What did you think of this Menswear Club parcel?  Did you love it as much as we did?

Bekki first discovered subscription boxes in 2014 and they quickly took over her life! (Not quite, but pretty close.) She started with POPSUGAR Must Have, then moved to Little Lace Box, Birchbox, Hamptons Lane…the rest was history. Her favorite product find is Beekman 1802 Fudge (so, so good) and her favorite boxes are Birchbox and Hamptons Lane…but she’s always looking for a new subscription to try!
