People have a lot of negative to say about this box, but I have no idea why. It’s been great so far! It’s a $10 box, not $20 or $30, so yes they are SAMPLES, but they are samples of brands that actually hold value. The description booklet you get with it is so detailed, the packaging makes you feel like you actually ordered something from Sephora, and I’ve gotten use out of every single item they’ve given out. It’s the only box I’m subbed to now & I can’t see myself ever getting rid of it.
The Smashbox palette is so cute!! It’s 2 rectangles of shadow & the little compact comes with a mirror too. I was happily surprised! Perfect to carry around in a clutch.

I actually am liking this box so far. Yea, its annoying that they are using a lot of former sample items, but I also rarely use my points at Sephora for 100 point samples, so for me a lot of it I’ve never received. I also like that I get the play cards and they are good through May 2016 (so far, haven’t received my December box yet), I typically purchase stuff from Sephora every few months, and the ability to use earn those extra 50 points from the play cards for a longer period of time makes the card more valuable.
The one thing that is really lacking is the lack of knowledge both their phone support and in store reps have on the program. I live in one of the test markets, and the employees in a couple of local stores seem to have little experience with redeeming the play cards and the program in general.

I keep getting invited to join PLAY! but I am not interested. These don’t look like any full size items to me. Can anyone tell me wrong?

Monica
No they are not full size items but most of the items are big enough to give you an idea if you want to purchase a full size or not. The boxes are a mix of makeup and skin care products which is exactly what I was looking for.

I would be surprised to get many full sized items from a $10 box. (Yes, I know ipsy sometimes has them. But the ipsy FS items are like “Be a Bombshell” and other brands I don’t care for, whereas the stuff Sephora sells is more expensive.)

Anyway you can pass your invite to me? 😀

I’m over this box at this point.

I can’t wait to see the actual size of the Palette. I would say I use 95 percent of the products that I’ve received in the Sephora box. I love it. Hopefully it will open up to more people soon. I’m not sure why I got selected but I’m glad I did.

I agree with you, this box doesn’t look exciting anyway even if I could get it. I was most excited about Macy’s but they’ve turned me off too.

Box envy is a real condition. I’m just saying, “When are we all getting ours?” ?

I would rather be patient and wait for Sephora to have all their ducks in a row than deal with the absolute CLUSTER %$#@ that Pop Sugar Must Have has with sending out orders. I just had to file a second chargeback for an second order I put in in November. I think Sephora is going about this wonderfully. Great word of mouth and box envy, and boxes seem to actually ship in the right month.

Good point! My PSMH December box is in limbo. And Sephora has had some issues, for example with the wrong Items being listed as coming in the Play box and being corrected after I receive the box.
I love this box. Birchbox would never send anything based off my profile and Ipsy was too makeup heavy for me. I just hope they launch it nationwide early next year like they said.

My problem with Ipsy is all the off-brand makeup that I would never use anyways.
Vanessa
The sizes of these items will make or break this box. I don’t think they would all be foil packets and fragrance vials, but we have to see.

They are great samples and no foil packets. I got my first box last month and it was fantastic.

I’ve been a subscriber since September and I haven’t gotten one foil packet yet. I love it dearly.

They literally did a whole Pallette in there?? That isn’t NYX or some off brand?!? I Would be willing to give away an organ to have a subscription invite for this box. And knowing that sadly, I’m only barely half kidding, … I need some backup from my fellow Sephora-Obsessed-Ladies! …it’s just a kidney, right??

Theyre only sending a shadow duo from that palette, but it still looks nice and well made not paper.

Hmm. That was also a 100 point perk about a month ago. I already have it; but it is adorable! A mini mirror and everything.
The travel palette is its own product…so almost like them listing “Naked 2 palette” and getting a Naked Basics palette..I’m assuming they would just link the smaller palette.
SiouxF
I think it’s something more like this. I guess we’ll see. But I have noticed a trend of getting 100 point perks in this box. And there was a tiny Smashbox palette a few years ago. So, mayhaps a smaller version of this.
I would be ticked if they sent me this in a box! However since I am on the wait list it won’t be a problem.

That makes me feel so much better! Because I’m having like a Glossybox VS Boxycharm and FOMO again. It’s de-ja-vu I swear. I can’t believe the two are the same price point. But then again I can’t believe that Ipsy is the same price point as this, and the Macy’s Spotlight Box.

Kinda glad I canceled after two boxes. Good quality products, but I was getting tired of black eyeliner in every single box. I think I like the Birchbox/Ipsy experience better because it’s tailored to individuals rather than the same box for everyone.

I gladly took that Marc Jacobs black eyeliner. I think the next one was Sephora’s Blue Jeans (blue) and there wasn’t one in the skincare box. So, did you get something different than everyone else?

Lindsay
I just mean subs in general were eyeliner heavy for me at that point. I got the first two boxes, so the Marc Jacobs and then the skincare. Then November’s box had eyeliner and this one too. I’m over eyeliners! They’re all black or navy for me, I want something fun.

I’ve been on the wait list since day one. And….I’m in the test market area.

I so want this box I tell ya, come on sephora!

I think the test market is bs…people all over on here have said they got the box. I honestly have given up hope on getting an invite. I have been signed up from day one as well. people in my area have been invited to join and I am rouge but I have nothing.

I’m calling BS on the “test cities” too. I was shocked that Jacksonville, FL (my city) was a test area. Um… why would anyone test something in Jax?! We’re not exactly known for high-end or anything fashion/make-up related.
Also, I’ve never spent a dime at Sephora in my life, nor had I heard of the box, when I got my email invitation mid-August. No idea where they picked me from.
Mona
I keep adding myself to the waitlist and keep getting zero confirmations and zero assistance. Im over this whole box. Just dont even want it now!

Yeah, me either. I will probably sub but I am not excited and not feeling it anymore.
