Fifth Avenue Style Subscription Box Review September 2015 - info

The packaging on this box is beautiful! The box itself is so sturdy and lovely that I will definitely put it to good use. This is the information sheet that was sent with this package, listing the items within. Although it makes it a little harder to review the contents, I actually think it's really classy that they don't list the retail value of each item. I like that they let the contents speak for themselves!

Fifth Avenue Style Subscription Box Review September 2015 - necklace

Links and Stones Multi Strand Necklace by RJ Graziano - Value $137.50 (on sale at Neiman Marcus for $103)

I don't normally like "big" necklaces, but I think in this case I'm going to have to make an exception. This necklace is absolutely stunning!

Fifth Avenue Style Subscription Box Review September 2015 - necklace-2

This should give you a better idea of what the necklace looks like on. I love the pink stones, they look like rose quartz. I can't think of where I will wear this, but I can't wait to have an opportunity to wear it somewhere!

Fifth Avenue Style Subscription Box Review September 2015 - earrings

Cone Shaped Drop Earrings by Erickson Beamon Rocks - Value $45?

These earrings are gorgeous! I love the colors, and the dangling spikes are really cool. I actually was able to find these online, but only in an old giveaway on EBR's facebook page, where I learned that this style is from last summer or possibly earlier. I am guessing at the value based on similar EBR earrings. Fortunately, gorgeous never goes out of style!

Fifth Avenue Style Subscription Box Review September 2015 - ring

Concave Textural Ring With Swarovski Elements by Walter Baker - Value $48

Walter Baker is a clothing designer primarily, so I was only able to find a few rings that were designed by him online. The ring did have a tag that says $48, and looking at his other rings online I think the retail value is similar. I love the blue bag it came in! It makes it feel very luxe.

Fifth Avenue Style Subscription Box Review September 2015 - ring-2

Here's a closer look at the ring. It is so shiny and it has gorgeous Swarovski studded accents! I'm wearing this ring right now, and I may never take it off!

Fifth Avenue Style Subscription Box Review September 2015 - purse

Alexis Cross Body Bag by Aimee Kestenberg - Value $158 (on sale at Stein Mart for $79.99)

This is real leather, y'all. I've never received a real leather purse in a subscription box before. I almost don't know what to say!

Fifth Avenue Style Subscription Box Review September 2015 - purse-2

Check out the silver metal tassel, and the leather-wrapped silver chain! This purse is so soft, and it's elegant, but with an edge. I just love it! I think it is from a few seasons ago, though, from what I could tell about it online.

Fifth Avenue Style Subscription Box Review September 2015 - purse-3

I cannot wait to start using this purse! I just hope my kids don't mess it up somehow!

Fifth Avenue Style Subscription Box Review September 2015 - scarf

Cross Line Abstract Scarf by Kenzo - Value $300?

Holy Smokes! It's a Kenzo scarf! Not only that, it's a modal / cashmere blend! I was completely blown away when I saw this included in the box. I couldn't find this exact scarf online, but I found a similar one for $310.

Fifth Avenue Style Subscription Box Review September 2015 - scarf-2

Here's an idea of what the scarf looks like on. I love blue, and I love line art / line prints, so this is a massive, multi-part win for me!

The Verdict: This might be my favorite luxury box I've ever received! I am super impressed by the quality of the items, and even the sale value ($576) is astounding. I think I'm totally in love with everything that came in this box! The only thing I think I should mention about this box is that yes, some of the items, maybe even all of them, are from previous seasons. With a name like "Fifth Avenue Style," I think I was a little surprised to learn that. I expected that most things would be current or maybe even not yet in stores. For myself and most other women, even some currently walking down Fifth Avenue, wearing items from previous seasons is pretty normal, but it's still something that I think should be pointed out. Otherwise, I am totally over the moon with this box!

I got the deluxe box twice. In the first one I got the necklace above (which I have up for swap, actually), a walter baker pair of earrings (RV $75), a “private label” ring, a pair of private label sunglasses, and a lodis purse (RV $178 if I recall correctly). In the second one, I got a bracelet with a tag for $388, a pair of Romeo & Juliet couture earrings (the ones shown), a Walter baker bracelet (RV $58), a clutch purse, and a private label ring. In general, the RV on these boxes is very good. I’ve had a few subsequent boxes be a little lower, but in general I’m very happy.

There is a lot of overlap on what people get, but it tends to be a good mix of name brand and “private label”. I get the subscription, too, which has been nice, but the deluxe box tends to have more higher end items.

FYI, their shipping tends to be SLOW, but their customer service is excellent.

I have subscribed to a regular Subscription Box at $98/month and so far have received 3 boxes.
All these boxes are very consistent in terms of merchandise quality, styling and value. The delivery time was good, although with 1 box there was some delay but they warned me on that and send me an extra item as a gift to compensate for that. I am a busy professional and also a mom of 2 kids so I don’t have much time to shop and it is invaluable for me that somebody does it in style and I receive it every month. So far it’s been good…
Also, just learned about Deluxe Subscription Box and might subscribe to this as well.

I’d wear that necklace with a v neck sweater, dark jeans and boots. Then probably run off to do something mundane like buy groceries : )
This box isn’t for me though. If I’m spending that much I need to pick the stuff out myself.

I’m going to have to pass on this box. My taste is very specific and not too common. I’d end up getting a lot of things I wouldn’t use. I hope we get to see what other people have received in their boxes.

I bought the same Aimee bag at Ross for about $40 a few months ago!

Gorgeous scarf!

This box looks amazing but I won’t order until I see some non review boxes. I fear this could be like oui please where people received such variations that many people were getting crappy boxes. I also fear that they sent la creme de LA creme for review boxes

The box reviewed here cost $50 more than the box Rebecca got, and the difference is that the extra cost gets you branded items. While it is really helpful to hear what was in the $99 box, without knowing if other subscribers to the $149 deluxe box got the same contents it is impossible to know if they are sending out a better box to be reviewed. I personally would not find this box to be a good match, since I don’t wear gold jewelry, but I do think anyone who put the purse or scarf on the swap site could get the world!

Rebecca

While you are correct about the branding comment, the site specifies a $350 min value for the regular box. My box hardly meets that.

I forgot to mention that there is a customization quiz involved, but since I didn’t take it for the review box, I don’t know too much about it. But I do know it asks about gold vs. silver, and you can pick what kinds of accessories you’d like to get vs. others you don’t want (e.g. earrings). Sorry! Hope that helps!

Looks like a great box! I was surprised though when you said “pink” and “rose quartz” stones on that (totally gorgeous) necklace because the pictures make it look purple/lavender (maybe it’s my screen?)

Also, I hope Rebecca describes her contents!! It’s a little discouraging that there could be a huge discrepancy between subscribers.

Anna

It’s a strange (but beautiful) color, Debra. It’s light pink with grey undertones? Which is what made me think of rose quartz. But looking at it now on my screen I can see why you thought lavender.

See below (sorry about the accidental double-post though…)

The brands and values of that box (not to mention the variety) are NOT representative. I ordered this box and my value was far less, with far less variety of items. This is a case where I am certain that the “for review” box is drastically different from the normal box.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

Oh no! Did you order the deluxe box or the regular?

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

I ordered the regular box. They say on their site that they ship within 2 weeks of your initial order, but mine took almost a month to ship. When it arrived it contained a Romeo & Juliet Couture necklace (RV42 but marked down to 21 online), a no-name 3-piece bangle set and a no-name hinged bracelet (that looked nearly identical to one another with a screw-head styling – no way to find an estimated price, but not expensive), and a Mantero scarf (can’t find a price – Mantero primarily makes scarves for other brands rather than sell their own). For $100, this seems kind of light to me. I was sufficiently disappointed that I cancelled immediately. If the box had been better, I might have upgraded, so they lost a customer by cheaping out on my first box.

Ari

Was yours the regular or delux? Because Liz reviewed the delux. Really interesting if there’s that big of a disparity.

Can you describe what you got?

Wow, this is a really impressive box! What a shame it’s way out of my budget. Love it though!
