Each box comes with a fold out card detailing the items included.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box August 2015 Review + Coupon Scarf

American Colors Clothing Plaid Scarf – Value $79

I can’t find this exact color/pattern on the American Colors Clothing site – I’m wondering if it is an exclusive colorway made for POPSUGAR?

The fabric is a lightweight 100% cotton gauze that is double sided. I think the fabric choice and the colors make it a good summer-to-fall transition piece.

Here it is on the dress form:

This isn’t my favorite of all the scarves POPSUGAR has sent, but I like it.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box August 2015 Review + Coupon Yay

Happy Jackson YAYLUNCH Lunch Box – Value $10

I love the design and colors of this lunch box. I just wish it was dishwasher safe!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box August 2015 Review + Coupon Lunch

I may use it for organization instead of lunch needs!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box August 2015 Review + Coupon Tea Balm

Royal Apothic Tea Balm Firming Eye Treatment – Value $36

I couldn’t find the ingredients for this eye treatment online when we first got the spoiler for this box, but now that it’s in my hands I’m happy with the ingredient list. No parabens or added fragrance!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box August 2015 Review + Coupon Eye Cream

The eye treatment is a very moisturizing cream, and I just love the packaging! I think this might be my favorite item in the box.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box August 2015 Review + Coupon Napkins

Meri Meri Toot Sweet Pink Stripe Napkins – Value $6

These are cute, and something I normally wouldn’t go out and buy, so it’s a nice addition to the box for me. Next time we have guests over and need napkins, they won’t get folded paper towels!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box August 2015 Review + Coupon Shortstacks

Shortstacks Birthday Cake Pancake and Waffle Mix – Value $8

This looks so good! I’m guessing it is an even more delicious version of funfetti in pancake form? I can’t eat these because of my gluten intolerance, but I’m sure my husband will love them. (He’s sampled Shortstacks before thanks to subscription boxes, so I know he likes the brand).

POPSUGAR Must Have Box August 2015 Review + Coupon Mug

Pastel Best Day Ever Mug – Value $12

Yay – this is dishwasher and microwave safe! This is probably my second favorite item in the box. I definitely don’t need any more mugs, but I tend to buy a cute one whenever I see it. And this mug looks good with my most recent mug purchases:

POPSUGAR Must Have Box August 2015 Review + Coupon My Mug Collection

POPSUGAR Must Have Box August 2015 Review + Coupon Yoga

My Yoga Works 3 Month Trial – Value $45

Great news – no credit card is required to redeem this subscription! (Each subscriber gets a unique code to enter). I just signed up and started browsing the videos – I like that you can create playlists!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box August 2015 Review + Coupon Folgers

Folgers Iced Cafe Caramel Macchiato Flavored Coffee Drink Concentrate – Value $5

This was listed as a special extra in the box. This mix has 12 servings – you add 2 squeezes to a 8 oz glass of milk to make the caramel macchiato. I couldn’t try it since it may contain milk (no dairy listed in the ingredients, but a warning on the bottle), but I did open it up to smell it – and it smells good!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $201 (that’s counting the value of the MyYogaWorks subscription since it doesn’t require a credit card for sign up). While every item isn’t a perfect fit for me, I still think this is a great box. What do you think of the August POPSUGAR Must Have box?

  1. I don’t think that I’m interested in anything but the eye cream. If anyone is interested in any items please contact me. I’m really disappointed in this months box. I think this will be my last.

    • Hello! I’m interested in the scarf, but I will buy the whole box of your selling. [email protected] is my paypal! 🙂

      • I’m selling the scarf if anyone wants it.

    • I’d be interested in purchasing the scarf. You can message me at [email protected]. Thanks 😉

  2. I signed up for the 3 month sub, so after Sept, no more PopSugar. I see myself using the eye balm, but everything else will be given away. I don’t drink coffee or hot tea, nor wear scarves, or eat pancakes. If someone is interested in the box, minus the eye balm, contact me at [email protected]

    • I will even throw in the toothbrush from last months box.

      • My coffee was expired too, back in February! The only thing that I really like was the mug and the idea of the yoga works 3-month trial. I’ve only had 2 Popsugar boxes and I haven’t been that impressed, will give it one more month.

        • No big loss.that junk is coffee flavored sugar and is really bad for you.

          • There isn’t really a whole lot of sugar in it compared to creamers. If you don’t use that stuff though, then I guess it is bad. I really wish the mug was cute though. To me it looks like a corporate give away. Maybe if they had done the lettering in cursive it would have been better.

        • Are you sure? Mine says Feb 20 2016, but if I don’t look closely it could look like 2015 instead.

        • Is it Feb 2015 or 2016? Mine is Feb 2016

  3. If anyone is interested in buying mine (which should arrive Monday) please let me know at [email protected]
    Selling for cost + shipping

  4. I can’t sugarcoat this. I just hate it. Thank goodness I cancelled!

    • I am very disappointed in this August box. The items are way over valued and more in line to inventory found at Target and Walmart. The fabric quality of scarf is like a over sized dish rag!! Their clever marketing spoiler (teaser) was the most expensive item – tea balm.

      • I agree. I didn’t like this month’s box at all. The scarf in my opinion is plain ugly. I would use it during picnics for seating (if it can accommodate that). The mug looks very cheap. I wish they would have spent some time in finding a mug which was different and looked worth the price.
The lunch box is beautiful but neither dishwasher nor microwave safe so that’s a bummer for me. The only things I liked were team balm and paper napkins. While I had loved the first box with Judy blume’s book, with each and every box my excitement and interest is lowering. I might as well cancel it.

  5. I think the scarf is not $79 as the one on the site is much thicker material

    • Yeah, the scarves on the site are Japanese flannel (whatever that is) and made in the U.S., not China, so the value is definitely inflated. I don’t actually mind the lighter weight of it as it’s more seasonally appropriate, but they should be clear it’s a different value and version from those on the website.

      • Hmmmmmmm …. If they made a cheaper scarf just for the popsugar box and tried to pull it off as the same thing as the sight then I wonder what else they do that with.

  6. I just feel like this is stuff I could get at Ross, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. 🙁

  7. I’m super bummed the lunch box isn’t microwave safe! It makes it virtually useless to me as I prefer hot lunches, BUT Liz’s organization idea sounds good! The item I’m most excited about is the waffle mix. The scarf’s colors are not for me, so it’s up on my swap board if anyone wants it!

  8. If anyone is interested in the lunchbox let me know. It is the only thing in the box I won’t use. I loved everything else. This is only my second box and I am happy with both boxes that I have received.

  9. Why don’t any of my comments show?! I was just saying I was a little disappointed with this box and last months too. Is like to sell or swap.

    • Hi Mindi – since it was your first time commenting on MSA with this email address, all comments were in pending until approved by admin. Everything should be showing up now! Sorry about that! 🙂

    • I post all the time and my comments almost never show up.

  10. I like a few if the items but not all and didn’t like most if last month’s box. Would love to switch with someone who has things they aren’t keeping from past boxes and would trade for the box items. Hit me up!

  11. I really think I will use everything in this box, for the first time ever! Haven’t got mine yet, hope it comes soon!

  12. This box is a little underwhelming to me, but not horrible….. My kids will love the pancakes and cute lunch box. The eye cream seems great, but I have three full jars waiting patiently for me in my bathroom. The coffee mug? Cute enough but so don’t need another in my house. I have plenty of cute paper napkins (but always prefer cloth). And while the scarf is on trend and a nice weight, I just don’t know how many more scarves I can handle. Sub boxes– Please stop with the incessant scarves. I know they are an easy one-size- fits- all fashion item but as someone stated earlier, the lack of variety in the boxes causes major fatigue. I’ve only been a subscriber for a year to PS- maybe less, and feel like I’ve seen many repeats. At a certain point, it probably makes sense to call it a day as much as I would miss the monthly box.

  13. I would be willing to sell my box however, I haven’t received it yet. Email me if you’re interested and we can discuss. I don’t use coffee mugs, actually I do not see myself using any of the items this month. Let me know if you’re interested.

  14. My mug came broken in hundreds of pieces and it went all over the box. There wasn’t any bubble wrap protecting the mug in the cardboard box 🙁 hope I can get a replacement.

    • My mug came with a chip on the rim right where I would drink from it. I guess I should consider myself lucky it wasn’t shattered like yours.

  15. If anyone wants to buy the scarf, the eye cream, and napkins or any of these items individually let me know!

    • What’s your asking price? I’m interested.

      • Hi Laura, I’m selling the eye cream for $12 plus shipping. Let me know! [email protected]

  16. Sadly, my box hasn’t shipped yet! I am happy to see that the pancake mix is Non-GMO verified! That is always a plus. 🙂 I cannot wait to wear the scarf and use the coffee mug.

  17. I did not order the box. I like the napkins and the scarf. It’s nice that the card does not require a credit card. That’s the best type of redemption.

  18. Did anyone else’s Folgers coffee mix come in expired? Mine said February 2015. I use expired stuff at home sometimes but I am not a fan of receiving it in boxes which I pay for even if it is a lifestyle extra.

    • Mine says Feb 2016, maybe it was a misprint?

    • Are you sure? Mine says Feb 20 2016, but if I don’t look closely it could look like 2015 instead.

    • My coffee mix was expired too.

The scarf was my favorite item; but I aam breastfeeding so I always like to have some lightweight cover up for public feedings.

My second favorite items were a tie between the mug and the lunch box. Truthfully I have enough lunch boxes/bags so this will be given to someone else. The mug is cute. Mornings are hectic so I could use the uplifting message but outside of that there was nothing truly remarkable about it.

Everything else was OK. The eye cream did come in the cutest packaging ever but I probably won’t use it. I’ll have to pass it on to someone else.

I think the yoga subscription is awesome. I wish yoga worked for me but I am a klutz and yoga and I are not friends.

The napkins were cute but they’re napkins. If we were going to do cute napkins it would be for a gathering or party and we would need more than the amount provided.

I tend to be disappointed in the food items in subs. I personally do not want to eat birthday flavored waffles.

This was my 3rd box. I might have “grass is greener ..” envy but other boxes seemed more awesome. Maybe this isn’t the box for me…?

      • Birch box never disappoints and it’s, cheapest. And I love the Ipsy bag. Try it!

  19. I spent a while debating whether or not I was going to buy this box, when I saw that it sold out I was so disappointed. Seeing everything though, I’m SO happy that I missed out on it. I don’t like anything lol. I’m a mug person and this one isn’t very impressive and… napkins???? I can get cute ones at Target for less. I’ll keep my eye on this box but don’t really see myself getting it, unfortunately!

    • I saw the too faced for September and caved. At least, I’ll know that I won’t be “losing” any money since the brow kit was on my Sephora shopping list

  20. I so hate that I missed out on this box! I’m a teacher and it totally fits with the Back to School theme. Is anyone willing to sell theirs????

    • Mine has not arrived yet, but when it does I would be interested in selling it.

        • The box arrived today. I sent you an email.

  21. Meanwhile, when oh WHEN will the Fall LE box be announced??

  22. I, too, was pretty disappointed with this month’s box. I didn’t think it really came together as a theme and I will be gifting most of the items. The scarf is okay, I don’t hate it. However like someone commented ^, this is liKe Scarf #284 from boxes. I really wish they’d ditch scarves and candles for awhile. I’m gluten free so I also can’t eat the pancake mix. It looking birthday like to me so I’m going to package some other things with it and the napkins and gift it for a friend’s birthday. I think this is the first PSMH box I truly disliked so that’s not too bad since I’ve been a subscriber for at least 1 1/2 years. Here’s hoping for a superb September box!

  23. Would be willing to buy box!!

    • I’d be willing to sell mine for $45.00 to cover some of the shipping. If you are interested, please email me at [email protected]

Paypal only and shipping to US states only.

  24. My biggest issue with this box is the pancake/waffle mix. The label says one serving equals 1/3 cup and there are five servings. But the recipe calls for two cups of mix! That math does not add up.

    • I noticed that as well! We’ll have to see how it works out…

    • dont have the mix in front of me, but maybe it means a third of a cup once the mix is prepared?

      • Maybe. I’m assuming the calorie counts are for it “as prepared” but the container doesn’t say that. The recipe on the back calls for 2 cups of mix and makes 4 waffles which would be 1/2 cup of mix per serving (unless you count one waffle as more than one serving). (I’m not sure the 4 waffles number is right – 1/2 cup mix plus liquid would be too much for my waffle maker).

  25. I actually liked the scarf and even wore it this evening after receiving it this afternoon. I twisted it so it was half one print and half the other and I got a lot of compliments. The eye cream is worth a try and I can always use a mug. I will make the pancakes for my granddaughters and give the coffee flavoring to a friend. The napkins will get used eventually and the box looks to me like a perfect home for crayons – especially since it has the elastic to go around it. I might even give yoga a try. While not extremely exciting, it is fairly useful stuff.

  26. Super cute items that are all functional, but the detailed review/photos solidifies my relief that I passed on this box. Nothing screams must-have for me. But PSMH is still one of my fave boxes to get overall, so looking forward to more spoilers for coming months.

  27. Even though I already had my box in hand, I couldn’t wait for Liz’s review! She always comes up with good uses and details for things that I don’t think of–like using the napkins when guests come over (I usually do folded paper towels too) and whether the mug is dishwasher safe!

This was not my favorite box, the items were all just so-so for me. But I do think it’s one of the best theme-fitting boxes since February. I was relieved when I saw the scarf–I like the bright blue and pink so much better than the faded colors that were in the spoiler! And I can always use an extra coffee mug hanging around the house.

  28. looking forward to receiving mine. I didn’t wear scarfs until I started getting them in boxes, but I do like plaid, so I’m looking forward to this one. I can always use another mug. Hubby and I can make brunch on his day off. I’m at an age where eye cream is a necessity. The only thing I don’t see an immediate need for is the lunch box (I work at home and hubby takes a big, huge carrier for his lunch), but I’m sure I’ll figure out something to do with it.

  29. Just curious, are the videos streaming only or are they downloadable? I prefer the latter because when I travel, I dont always have access to a good wifi connection, so i’d rather be able to download.

    • Just checked, they are streaming only – sorry! 🙁

  30. I thought I would hate the scarf, but I really like the gingham pattern. It definitely isn’t worth $79, though. The mug is too plain, the gold lettered version on the Nordstrom website is much cuter. I love the lunchbox (they won’t let me bring my Doc McStuffins one to work anymore) so I forced myself to use it today even though it’s a weird shape for bringing anything but a sandwich. I tried the eye cream last night for the first time and felt a tightening after about 1/2 hour or so, so I got excited thinking it was working. But when I got to the mirror my dark circles looked worse. Anyone have any opinion on the eye cream yet? I don’t want to give up on it too soon.

  31. Mine came today, too! I love the eye cream and the pancake/waffle mix. The scarf is pretty, but it’s not quite my style and I’m not sure I’d ever wear it since I already have so many. I’m going back and forth on whether I want to swap it.

The lunchbox is adorable, but I don’t really have a use for it, so I listed it for swap. I also don’t really like iced coffee, so I listed that as well.

The mug is cute, and I can always use more, so I’m happy with it, too. The napkins are kind of meh to me, so I decided to list them as well.

Overall, I still think this is a great box. I personally like it better than last month’s, but I may have liked June a tiny bit more. I can’t wait to see future months!

    • How do you list things to swap?

It will usually take a couple of weeks to get off the waiting list depending on when you sign up.

        • Thank you!

  32. I like this box also. I’m psyched about the yoga gift card. Our family also has gluten intolerance issues and one full on celiac disease so we won’t be keeping the pancake mix but that swap is already in progress. I am not a scarf person but maybe I should start.

    • I was able to get one – thanks so much!!!

  33. on the American Colors website, it says “our clothes are made in the United States, and we’re proud of that”. However, my American Colors PopSugar scarf says “Made in China”, so I’m guessing this was definitely made just for PopSugar, and IMHO the retail value is lower than what we are seeing on the website. It’s an OK scarf, I like others from PopSugar a lot more.

  34. I’m excited to get this!! The scarf is super cute, eye cream is good to have, my daughter will enjoy a breakfast made with those pancakes and I can put the napkins in her lunch. I bet my husband steals the macchiato mix!

  35. Loved it!

  36. How do you swap? I would like to swap the lunchbox if anyone is interested.

  37. Just opened my box–I think it might be one of my favorite boxes yet! Love the scarf and the lunch box–love!

  38. Liz, I love your other two mugs! Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Harry Potter! Haha

    • I love the Accio Tea mug too. I might need to buy that one for work if I can figure out how to make tea at work…

      • There’s a coffee version too – my husband has that one 🙂

        • Oh heck, I need to get that coffee one! I drink both tea and coffee, but have a true morning dependency on coffee. lol

  39. Love your new Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt mug!!

  40. I love the box! The only thing I won’t use is the Yoga gift card, but, I have a friend who will enjoy it and it will make a nice little gift on her desk tomorrow!

  41. im sitting in my air conditioned home on the gulf coast wearing the scarf… I can’t wait until it’s cool enough to wear out and I’m flying to vermont tomorrow where I’m sure I’ll be in a state of weather shock, I think it’ll look so cute with jeans and a black tee/tank. It’s a nice wishful thinking for fall piece for us in he 100s… I don’t mind waiting a couple months lol

  42. I like the look of the scarf so much better than i intially thought. I love pink and blue tog. Also, does anyone know when the fall box will go on sale?

  43. I like the scarf better here than I thought I would based on the spoiler. I think it would pair well with jeans and a t-shirt.

    The mug is cute too.

  44. TBH, I was actually more excited that I received my box the same day as Liz posted her review! Usually, I get mine at least a week after Liz’s review.

I’m always thrilled to receive a PSMH box, even if I can’t use or don’t like everything.

This is definitely a nice assortment of items. I don’t want to re-review every item.
But, I will say that I really like scarf number 245,892,478 that I have received in subscription boxes over the past several years! (I’m sure the number isn’t that high, but it sure does seem like it when I open my closet sometimes.) ;p

The scarf is indeed light and gauzy. I love that it has a plaid side and a gingham side. It will look awesome with a simple
    T-shirt and jeans.

The napkins are as cute as can be. I was lmfao about them being a step up from folded paper towels at Liz’s house!!! Apparently, we live in similar abodes.

So, this is just another great PSMH to me! I hope everyone enjoys the August box.

    • Ha, I just saw your “It will look awesome with a simple
T-shirt and jeans.” comment regarding the scarf. I agree! 🙂

      • Chris – Great minds think alike! The scarf definitely screams “denim” to me. I like that it’s lightweight because we won’t be wearing winter scarves in Texas until at least Jan/Feb. ? Keri

    • I agree. T shirt, jeans and a denim jacket. Great colors for that style.
I’m so tired of makeup and skin care. I have favorite hair products already and some of the other home boxes just don’t have the value that PSMH has. The items make great presents so even if everything is not to my taste, it’s still a win for me. Can’t wait for the Fall box. Summer was amazing.

  45. Other than the fact that my Granddaughter is gonna get to throw a fancy breakfast with the pankcakes and napkins Sunday, I think this box was a no go for me. I’m not thrilled with the pancake mix and napkins, but as they say “when you have lemons…” She will probably steal the lunchbox as well (kid follows in her Grandma’s footsteps, she has a thing for bags and boxes). The rest hopefully will make nice gifts. I am not mad at this box, but not one of my favorites.

  46. I got my box today too and dislike it even more in person. I don’t like the scarf at all, I hate plaid too much lol. The lunchbox thing is cute, but I take frozen meals usually to work and would never use it. The eye cream, I don’t currently use eye cream, but probably should. The mug is plain, plus I don’t drink coffee I rarely use mugs. Disappointing box for me mostly because I won’t use most items and the ones I do like are worth less than the box.

    • I don’t drink coffee or hot tea but I do use my mugs to make oatmeal in so its easier to carry with me to work. Just an idea for those noncoffee/tea drinkers! Also you can make little cakes in them too!

  47. I loved this box!! It’s right up my alley, and it’s even better in person. Scarves, coffee mugs and beauty products are my fav!

  48. I am THRILLED with this box! Just the yoga sub would have made me over the moon, but it’s all great! Well done, brava!

  49. If any of you gems want to sell your box, hit me up!

    • Totally willing to sell you the whole box.

    • Totally willing to sell you the entire box!
