Burke Decor Whole Home Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Box

Burke Decor recently launched a subscription box service. They offer two different options: A Spa Box, or a Whole Home Box. (If you go with the Spa Box, you can pick from Cool + Fresh, Warm + Earthy and Floral + Fruit).

I love the idea of home decor subscription boxes, and I wish there were more of them, so I immediately signed up for the Whole Home Box.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Burke Decor Whole Home Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Info

This box came with a sheet detailing all the items included.

Burke Decor Whole Home Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Bottle

Seletti Porcelain Wine Bottle - Value $35

I was thinking of using this porcelain "bottle" for olive oil - but I think it would make a beautiful vase too.

Burke Decor Whole Home Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Salt

Sagaform Electric Spice Mill - Value $69.90 total

I like that they included both a salt and pepper mill in the box - one thing to call out though, these require 6 AAA batteries each!

Burke Decor Whole Home Subscription Box Review – July 2015 Towel

Ferm Living Organic Tea Towel - Value $17.25

I have a few other Ferm Living pieces thanks to Skandicrush, and I love their designs, so I like this tea towel more than I thought I would ever like a tea towel! (It's 100% organic cotton too).

Verdict: This box has a value of about $122. That's a little less than June's box, but I'm still happy with the value since it is about double what I paid for the box. I love the modern design of the items in this box, so this box is a win for me - I'll use everything. I could see how this box might be too taste specific for many subscribers though - I think June's box was more universally appealing.

What do you think of the July Burke Decor Home Box?

Thank you. It’s hard to take a picture of her because she is always next to me.

Thank you. She’s a wonderful dog.

I just got my box… No info card like everyone else that got it at the beginning of the month. I got an ugly black vase with no name, a tozai tray that’s cracked down the middle and a Kai nightlight. What a letdown. I’m canceling this sub because this is the second month in a row that I’ve gotten a different and crappy box.

I can’t believe we got this crap either!!!! I was expecting the salt and pepper grinders, wine bottle and towel. I have cancelled mine also!!!!

Has anyone else not received their July box yet? I’m starting to get a bit worried. O.o

I emailed them and they said, would be shipping out end of month.

I like this month’s box. My very first thought when opening the box is that everything is giftable. This is the time of year when people tend to move. The items will make great housewarming gifts.

I always wanted a salt and pepper grinder set, but never bought a set. It lights up which is fun for my younger son. I like Liz’s idea about putting flowers in the wine bottle. I may try using it for homemade salad dressing. The towel reminded me of Skandicrush. I didn’t know the brand was featured in it! I am happy that it is 100% organic cotton although I don’t care much for the design. I always welcome another towel because it is better than using paper towels to clean up.

I’m hoping next month has COLOR!!!

Would anyone be open to trading their salt and pepper grinders? My mom has arthritis in her hands and I think these would be perfect for her. She’s actually mentioned wanting a set for her birthday. I’d love to work out a trade with someone. My email is wldflowur13 (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks! -Lisa

Hey Liz – will you be reviewing the new Decoterie decor box? I was thinking about subscribing to Burke Decor but then I found out about that one and was intrigued.

oo – thanks for the heads up! I’ll definitely subscribe! 🙂

I loved the June box and was able to use everything in it. I really like the tea towel in this box but I know the wine bottle and electric spice mills would just end up being unused clutter in my cabinets. I’ll skip buying this month but I’m looking forward to seeing next month’s box!

Do all subscribers receive the same items each month? I received the hand towel and bowl , and Turkish Towel that Liz did last month but in different colors. I also did not get a list of items or a detail sheet last month.

I HATE this box. I wrote them and told them to cancel if this is the kind of stuff they were going to send. I have four salt and pepper grinders and I don’t cook or drink. I was interested in decor items, not kitchen items. I was soooo disappointed in this, mine will be going up on EBay.

I liked June’s box a lot better, this is too ‘black and white’ I like more colorful things.

The “wine” bottle is a porcelain bottle modeled after a wine bottle and meant for olive oil (which explains the spout.) If you Google it you’ll find much more info than they give you on the sheet Burke includes.

Brooke

Liz- could you explain more about the bottle? Why do you call it a “bottle” (in quotes)? Is it meant for wine (which would be weird, right?), or is it a wine-bottle shaped container that you could use for other things? Thnx.

Reply ButtonReply

Liz Cadman

I guess you could use it for wine too? I used quotes because I think of bottles being made of glass. But I guess it could actually work for wine! 🙂

(It’s dishwasher safe too)

Brooke

Thanks! Seems like more trouble than its worth to decant a bottle of wine into this bottle? But I love your idea about olive oil…

Tamara

Six AAA batteries!?! Dang! I was thinking of giving them to my Dad since he just told me his pepper grinder broke. Guess I’ll have to stock him up on batteries, too. 🙂

That’s a good idea about using the bottle as a vase! Although the bf was talking about making his own dressing.

I’m glad to see that there are variants of the towels going out. I love the one you received! 🙂

Nichole

Honestly, I had a similar grinder that we got from Costco that also used 6 AAA’s, and the batteries last forever. And they’re just so convenient – if it’s the same idea as the one we had, it automatically sprinkles as soon as it’s turned upside down. So easy to use! Especially for older people with arthritis, etc. 🙂

Tamara

That’s awesome to know about the batteries. Thanks!

And that’s a good point about arthritis. My Dad’s 85 and even though he’s in awfully good shape, his hands have been bothering him lately.

Yay! They’re going to Dad. 😀

Ragan

I have some from Amazon that take 4 AA batteries each. Not a huge difference, I guess. I really like them, though.

Jessvii

Six AAA batteries each?!? Yikes.

That looks great. I’m glad I signed up for the every month box! I’ve been looking for a nice Salt and pepper set and those look amazing and high quality! I’m so excited. I hope I get my shipping notice soon 🙂
