Birchbox Vs Ipsy – May 2015

Liz – do you think you’ll ever do Boxycharm vs Glossybox posts?

how do you determine what counts as a deluxe size? I can figure sample vs. full, but I’m not sure how deluxe fits in?

i really like them both it makes me try things that i wouldn’t normally try ..i have not had either sub that long though

This month Ipsy won for me. Here is my break down:

BB gave me two products I really liked, which were the Macadamia Nourishing Moisture Oil Treatment, and the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water.

Ipsy gave me four products I liked, plus the bag which I also liked this month. The Ipsy products I liked, starting with my favorite, were: Cotz Natural Face SPF 40, Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Pencil, Luxie Beauty Eye Blending Brush, and Peter Lamas Detoxifying Facial Cleanser. I didn’t like the UD pencil at first, but now I really like it.

With Birchbox, I never get Be a Bombshell anything, which is a big plus…

May was the first month I let BB pick my samples for me. I loved them, minus the sea salt spray which I never use but they’ve sent me at least 4 times. Ipsy is continuously a disappointment, everyone seems to prefer it but I always get crap I don’t want or use. Usually a bronzer and eyeliner. I think I’ve had two good bags I was excited about in a year’s subscription. I’ve had BB for 4 years and still enjoy getting it, I rarely get a full size item, but they seem to listen a little better to my reviews and likes. Ipsy seems to give me the things I hate every month, they pay 0 attention to the quiz.

I’ve always thought Birchbox was the best of the two. Last month ipsy won, but that’s the first time since last summer that ipsy was better. I actually cancelled ipsy two months ago and have never looked back. Birchbox customer service is amazing. I also get Sample Society, Glossybox, & Beautyfix so I’m constantly comparing beauty boxes and ipsy isn’t consistant IMO

It’s really a c***shoot what you get with either box. I was happy with my three Birchbox boxes this month (my regular one, the one I subscribed to get the sponge and the one I subscribed for $1) and my daughter was happy with her Ipsy box. But I only got two of the products Liz got in her Birchbox and my daughter got none of the ones Liz got in her Ipsy. She was happy with the dry shampoo in my Birchbox, though.

I haven’t see what I’m getting from Birchbox in June yet. I’m not sure how my daughter will feel about her Ipsy. She got two makeup products, which she wanted, but the colors may not work for her.

While I definitely preferred Ipsy over Birchbox this month, I’ll never give Birchbox up. I’ve been disappointed in ipsy for at least 6 months and was planning to cancel after May – and of course it was an amazing month!
Birchbox on the other hand has that wonderful points system. I save my points for 6 months and always get a new bottle of Beauty Protector Detangler for free. This month I added the Summer limited edition box too. Ladies who would give up Birchbox – make sure you’re using it to it’s full capacity.

I started a 2nd subscription with Birchbox to get the beauty blender and I received an email saying the beauty blender would be shipping separately, but I’ve never received it yet. Has anyone else?

All of the ipsy possibilities are up for June through early glam bag access! Woo!

I got the ipsy box in May and just signed up for Birchbox (using the Tati code to get it for $1). I already know what will be in the bag and I’m not impressed at all. I’m going to give Birchbox another month or two then will cancel. I am going to try Ipsy and Glossybox and see how that works out! Those two seem to get the most ‘value’. 🙂 Many people on Youtube actually compare their Ipsy boxes to Glossy or Boxycharm – which is crazy because Ipsy is only $10. That should tell you something. 🙂

I canceled Ipsy a while back as I never seemed to get good items. So bummed that I missed the dry shampoo and lip liner. Maybe I will have to resubscribe!

Ipsy seems to be the better choice lately. Not a fan of Birchbox any longer
