The Book Worm box is a newer book subscription box from Colleen Hoover. They also donate their profits to a different charity each month!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: The Book Worm Box

The Cost:$39.99 plus $11.99 shipping

The Products:  This box will include 2 autographed books, one or both of them being from a bestselling author. Each box will also include book swag.

Good to Know: The Bookworm Box was built on the foundation of spreading the good, so 100% of the profit after overhead costs will be donated to a different charity each month.

This box comes with some swag goodies each month - for May it's a pen, stress-ball book, and The Game Changer magnet.

The Master by Kresley Cole - Retail Value $15 (On Amazon for $11.40)

Filthy Beautiful Lies by Kendall Ryan - Retail Value $11.99 (On Amazon for $10.79)

One thing to mention with this box - authors donate their signed books, so there's a lot of variation. Looking at Instagram, it looks like I received one of the more scandalous looking boxes! 😉

Ideally I would have preferred this variation - oh well!

Here are the signature pages for each book:

Verdict: At first glance, this doesn't feel like a $50 box. I have to keep in mind though that $12 of that goes to shipping, and all the profits go to charity. If you're looking for a unique book box that delivers signed books, this could be a good fit, but if you're looking for a higher value book box, I wouldn't recommend Book Worm Box at this point.

I'm still going to give it at least another month. What do you think of the Book Worm Box?

I love book subscriptions but this one isn’t for me. With no ability to request certain genres or at least opt out of certain genres this is too much of a gamble for me. (I despise romance style books and would be really upset to shell out $50 for a box of them.) If they added something to deal with the different genres I would look a lot more closely at the box because of its charitable aspect.

I love the idea of getting signed books, but these particular selections are very far from what I’d normally read. I understand why they’d need to do variations, but it might work out better if they let people pick genres.

As much as I love the idea of them donating to charity and I adore Colleen Hoover, the founder, it’s def too much money for me. And, since it’s still new, it doesn’t have enough credibility in good books (or books I actually want to read) yet. I’ll have to hold back until it’s more established.

Books are such a subjective thing I do try to broaden my horizons from thriller mystery detective having said that I don’t find this is good value
