UrthBox Subscription Box Review + Coupon – April 2015 Classic Card

Urthbox included a card that specified the month and type of box I received but did not provide a list of the items included in the box.

UrthBox Subscription Box Review + Coupon – April 2015 Kale

LesserEvil Super 4 in Kale and Roasted Garlic (1.5 oz.)- value $1.05

I was expecting these to be similar to veggie straws, but they were much crunchier. I loved the crispy texture, and I also thought the flavor was great. At first, I thought the kale and garlic flavor was a little odd, but it quickly grew on me.

UrthBox Subscription Box Review + Coupon – April 2015 Fuel

Fuel for Fire Fruit + Protein Fuel Pack (4.5 oz.)- value $3

This fuel pack is a mix of pureed fruit (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and pear) and whey protein. Each pack has 10 grams of protein, is gluten-free, and is paleo-friendly.

UrthBox Subscription Box Review + Coupon – April 2015 Yes

The Yes Bar in Mocha Cayenne (1.4 oz.)- value $3

Terranut Pnut Punch (.6 oz)- value $.80

Yes Bars are gluten free, non-GMO, and “make it fun to be healthy.” I love spicy chocolate, so I was excited to give this a try. It was spicy, salty, sweet, and chocolaty, but all of the flavors melded together really well. I can be pretty picky when it comes to nutritional bars, but I thought this one was excellent.

The Terranut Pnut Punch is another little snack that’s packed full of protein. It’s very small but provides 4 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber. Also, it’s made with only three ingredients: cold-pressed peanuts, gluten free oats, and raw organic sugarcane. Unwrapped, it wasn’t much to look at, but I thought it was really good- kind of like dry, crumbly peanut butter.

UrthBox Subscription Box Review + Coupon – April 2015 Popular

Nourish Snacks Mr. Popular (1.2 oz.)- value $2

These half-popped corn kernels were delicious! They were salty and had an addictive, crispy crunch. They might become my new favorite movie theatre snack.

UrthBox Subscription Box Review + Coupon – April 2015 Coupons

This month’s Urthbox also included a coupon for Nourish Snacks, a gift card for Urban Remedy, and a Terranut business card.

Verdict: This was my second Urthbox, and I enjoyed the majority of the snacks that were included. This month, Urthbox included quite a few “fitness” snacks that were high in protein. While this isn’t usually my favorite type of snack, I thought they did a great job at choosing products that were healthy but tasted great, too. One thing I want to point out about Urthbox is that there is a huge gap in pricing between a monthly subscription and a 6-month subscription. For the mini box I received, the prices are $19 per month and $9 per month, respectively. The value of this box comes in at about $10, which is a pretty good value only if you’re willing to commit to a 6-month subscription.

Have you tried Urthbox? What did you think?

  1. Yes, I’m surprised at the harsh reviews as well. I had first subscribed for 3 months last year after getting it from a deal site. I had no problems canceling with them after the 3 months (I just made sure I contacted them before the time was up.) I liked everything back then and just didn’t continue because of the price. They didn’t offer different sized boxes back then. I resubscribed for 6 months for the classic box with the coupon and it came out to be around $7 a box. Anyway, that being said, I got all completely different things in my April box!

  2. I have had an entirely different experience. I’m on my 2nd sub now, 3 months from a deal site and then 6 months renewed after that. I really like what I get. Not everything, but not every sub will always be absolutely perfect. I have had things I said “nope” to. Over all though I have had a lot of fun getting things to try. The customer service never seems to be lacking. I had an issue with my renewal and they fixed it pretty quickly.
The only con I had was they hadn’t sent an email out before they resubbed me, I think an invoice is the least you can do, even if you clearly state that the sub is up for autorenewal. (No they didn’t quote that to me at all I am just saying that can be an argument, not that it was made.) Never-the-less they had subbed me for 3 months and I wanted to extend for 6, they also allowed me to use the discount code.

    • I officially rescind my recommendation for this company. They failed to send me out an invoice twice now after billing my credit card. Nor was there a heads up email about possible renewal. So while I’m busy with school work, preparing for a move where I will basically be homeless for over a month they told me that I should have been aware. Yes I was, but I’m also a student, a mother, and moving. I have a ton of balls in the air. I had to wait until we received our orders for when we were moving.
I suppose I also should be aware of what those points that they keep telling you to blog/post/comment/whatever are about too. But when I asked I got told it was on the website. Well, no it wasn’t. I let that go because I was busy. Now I refuse to. Getting a snotty email back about a bill isn’t my idea of customer service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND, maybe if you have a ppd card to use, otherwise GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY.

  3. Yes, it was difficult to get the voucher awarded, and they ended up charging me for two boxes at the same time on multi month subscriptions through no fault of my own, and they refused to refund me anything. VERY shady. I’ve just been waiting for my subscription(s!!) to end, at this point. Think this was finally my last month. Phew.

It’s one of those boxes that I suppose is fine until YOU are the one trying to deal with customer service.

  4. As someone who has been subscribed to Love With Food for over a year, I just feel LWF blows this box out of the water. I like that Love With Food donates meals, has great customer service, has themed boxes and their prices are much more reasonable. I understand Urthbox is a bit different and I think it’s cool they send drinks, but the pricing is crazy!

    • WOW I couldnt agree more with you. I cant believe this Urthbox is $19!! The LWF box gives you soooooo much more. I just upgraded to the Deluxe box too and am so happy I did.

  5. I tried this sub out for a few months and had nothing but problems the overal experience was horrible !

first off the items arrived in horrible condition. I had items that arrived torn or that leaked in every box, they even sent out expired items. I purchased it with a voucher from livingsocial and the terms say that it would not auto renew. Yet they still charged me over $100 dollars when my term was over!
trying to get someone from customer service to respond over the phone or email took over a week. I finally had to get Livingsocial to contact them since I was having no luck. not only did they wrongfully charge me but it took two weeks to be refunded. I don’t reccomend the sub, they didn’t care that they sent expired items, and they were reluctant to refund me my money.

The concept of the box is great but their customer service is horrible… So for that reason I wont sign up with them again.

I advise anyone yto sign up at your own discretion and pray that you never have any issues because getting someone to respond is near impossible!

  6. I don’t think you’re supposed to switch boxes during the membership. But, I had the classic and didn’t realize there can be meat products in there (I’m vegetarian) and so they agreed I could switch over to vegan.

  7. Please read the yelp reviews for this box before you sign up! Customer service is lacking and if you buy a voucher for this box, you can’t redeem it without their help after they have your credit card.

    • Wow, those are some harsh reviews! I’m on my second box and happy so far. Fingers crossed that it continues to go smoothly!

  8. Wow, that is really weird about the pricing… I’ll consider the 6-month sub at $7.44/month with coupon after I check out a few other reviews. I’d like to see the diet box and wonder if I can easily switch between boxes anytime during the sub? I’m debating between the classic healthy one you got and the diet.
