My Pretend Place Craft Subscription Box Review – Feb 2015 Box

My Pretend Place is a subscription service for children, offering both a quarterly subscription of costumes and theme-related items, and a monthly craft subscription. We received the quarterly costume package in January, which was an astronaut costume and space goodies! It turns out that on the months you don't receive your quarterly package, they still send out little goody boxes to the kids! This is a review of their in-between / extras box for February.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

My Pretend Place Craft Subscription Box Review – Feb 2015 Activity

This month we received two little extras to keep our astronaut theme going strong. The first was this suggested activity, which involves painting rocks, hiding them around the yard, and then coming up with an imaginative "report" that describes the zany types of rocks on this strange planet (the backyard). It has been raining so much here lately we haven't had much chance to try it, but now that daylight savings is back in effect, I think we will probably give it a try pretty soon!

We also got this giant sheet of space stickers!

And a poster to stick them on!

My Pretend Place Craft Subscription Box Review – Feb 2015 Finished Poster

Here's our finished poster! I am very proud that my seven-year-old was able to put all the planets on their correct orbits, but I couldn't convince him to not stick all the stickers on the poster. Therefore, it is pretty inaccurate, and I am pleased to report that there is, in fact, not asteroid headed straight for Earth-like this poster might lead you to believe!

Verdict: Making the poster was just silly fun, and the activity looks like a great way to keep one's child interested in playing with all their goodies from the January box. I already thought the value of the My Pretend Place subscription was great, and considering these "in-between" packages do not cost anything additional, the value just seems to keep getting better!

What do you think of My Pretend Place?

I do wish they hadn’t called the moon a planet, though. Oof.

The sentence is badly constructed, but I think they mean, we didn’t know what OUR planet was made of, as the next sentence says now we know that both earth and moon are made of the same things. 🙂

Really? How did I miss that when signing up? Did you receive an email saying it was on the way (tracking), or was this a complete surprise?

Amber, it was a complete surprise! It does say on their website that you get little treats sent on non-costume months, but for some reason I thought they meant virtual treats, like emails with activities, etc.

I’m searching all over the website, and in my emails from them and I see nothing about getting additional items on off months. And, oddly enough, I never received this package. Is it possible it was sent to you for the the craft / DIY box, or maybe because you’re a blogger?
