A big part of Sockracy's mission is encouraging subscribers to donate socks they are no longer using. (Socks are one of the most needed and under-donated items in homeless shelters). They let you know you can donate the socks directly or go to Give Back Box to get a free shipping label to donate your items:

(If you are looking for another easy-to-use donation program, I recommend Schedule a Pickup. We've used it several times and it is so easy to set up a time for your donation boxes to be picked up).

I have to admit I didn't realize used socks were an item that were acceptable for donations. We'll make sure to donate them moving forward.

Sockracy Sock Subscription Box Review - February 2015 Crew

Here is a look at the crew socks. They have a padded footbed and strip around the foot similar to the Bombas design. My husband likes them a lot and I tried them too - we're both fans.

Sockracy also sent us a box of their ankle socks to review as well:

They get major points for packaging!

The ankle socks have a pretty low profile on the heel and the same padded footbed as the crew socks.

Verdict: We're really impressed with the quality of these socks for the price point - 30 socks for $40 is kind of insane when some sock subscriptions are $11 a pair. (Those socks are usually branded though). If sock brands aren't a deciding factor for you, I think this subscription is a great value, and I love that they have a focus on charity as well.

What do you think of Sockracy?

GREAT find!!! Thanks 🙂

I ordered a one-off box of dress socks (the 30pr for $30!!!), and I subbed to the crew socks.

I got great communication and shipping notifications, and both boxes arrived today. They made a mistake and sent 2 boxes of dress socks. I took a picture of the 2 identical boxes and emailed them, and they emailed me back in about 10 minutes, apologizing, promising to send the crews tomorrow, and offering that I keep the extra box. Now THAT is good customer service! (Are you listening, glossybox???)

wow, just received my box today and they very nicely even added in a pair of crew socks as well. hubby really liked them, they are nice quality and i think i could even steal some for myself even though they are for men for sure. As soon as they get ladies socks, I’m easily in for another box. We got the dress sox box and I’m very happy with my purchase!

Oh this is great! I definitely need to get this subscription for my husband, father-in-law, and brother-in-law. They always say that their goal in life is to be rich enough to wear a new pair of socks everyday and never wear a pair twice!

I signed up for this immediately after reading this post. It’s a great gift for my husband. Socks are always a problem for him since my dog chews holes in them, and he is too cheap to buy new ones! FYI it’s only $5 more and you can customize your box. I’m getting him 2 rows of crew socks, 2 rows of ankle socks and 1 row of dress socks.

I received a shipment notice from UPS the next day, and there has already been some movement on my package.

Liz, as your hubby wears the ankle socks could you please post back to let us know how these ‘stay in place’? A lot of non-branded socks fall down in the back which is so uncomfortable. If they do not fall down, that is a major plus IMO.

Have hubby and two sons so placed an order for the one-off box. Socks in the Easter baskets! Let’s see how they’re received. Argyle is a bit tricky and dh has very small feet!

If it they seem a good quality, are accepted and wear well, I will order again (particularly if there is a sale) for future use–like Christmas stocking fillers. However, I just cannot see ever needing 30 pair per month, even splitting between three guys.

Are there sizes??? I would love this for me but I’m afraid there are to big. My shoe size is 8.5 but if they are for guys I’m not sure if they will fit.

I’m a women’s size 9 and the crew socks fit me well, the ankle socks are a little on the long side but would work fine too. Hope that helps!

Jovan

There are no sizes – one size fits “most” 🙁

Brooke

Interesting. But, is it 30 socks, or 30 pairs? Thanks.

Cindy

The website says 30 pair.

30 pairs.

My husband and son wear dress socks at least 4-5 days out of the week. I went to the website to check out the dress sock box and, right now, they have a close out deal… 30 pairs for $30! Apparently they are making room for a new dress sock design, so I snatched this up for my son. My husband is a Gold Toe sock snob, but my son will like the patterns of these. I hope they are good quality, but for $1 per pair, I couldn’t pass it up.

Cindy

Rushed right over after reading your post, but could not find the close-out deal. 🙁

Found it; ordered it. Thanks for the heads up!

I like this idea, but would need a cotton socks option. My feet sweat too easily in non-cotton socks.

I was also concerned about the fact that these are purely polyester, so I looked up sock materials (isn’t the internet grand). Indeed, synthetic materials can be better than cotton for keeping shoes dry – but not ALL synthetic materials. Polyester, in particular, is not listed anywhere as a recommended fabric for socks – though Coolmax (a specific type of polyester) is.

Jovan

Interesting! That’s good to know, since my feet (and their smell) are often an area of concern for me. Most of my socks are either wool or a poly-blend of sorts (including lots of Coolmax), but yeah none that are straight up polyester.

Jovan

Cotton socks are actually bad if you have sweaty feet as they don’t wick well. Synthetic materials or wool are typically the best for socks since they wick well and will be more breathable, which is often why high performance gear for fitness and working out tend to be made out of these materials. (I have atrociously sweaty/stinky feet).

I love socks but one box would be good for the entire year if I’m getting 30 in a box lol… I personally prefer socks with fun prints but my husband would really appreciate this kind of sock subscription.

Sneaky Burrito

Unfortunately, my used socks are not acceptable for donations. Because I wear them until they have holes in the heels…

Sara

What on earth would a person do with 30 pairs of socks per month? You’d never wear the same pair twice!

Reply ButtonReply

Angela

Man— I’d LOVE that!!! This is the sub for me- i just wish there wasn’t a brand symbol on the top of the socks. That one feature means these won’t work for me… I hate having to match socks- this would make me so happy!

Jovan

OMG I wear AT LEAST 2-3 pairs a day: a pair for commuting to work (I walk to work), a dress pair for work, a pair for working out, and usually a pair for at home.

I’m certain I’m not the norm, but I would LOOOVE this subscription box! Also, I love the idea of not having to find pairs for my socks all the time. Unfortunately, I’m a girl with small feet. I wish they made girl socks 🙁

Cheri

I wear a women’s 7 and these socks fit me! I love them! I do think they have women’s socks coming soon so stay tuned! 😉

Agona

I don’t wear socks that often but small feet are my biggest issue. One size does not fit all! Not when your feet are a size 5, MAYBE 5.5 if you’re lucky, LOL.
