OK I tried it because of the sale. I got the “mixed” juicing box regular – 4 packs of produce- 2 with greens and 2 without. And I have mixed feelings:
GOOD:
+ Organic non-gmo produce
+ Nice website, easy to navigate and make adjustments to your account. A bigger deal than it sounds imo.
+ You can skip any time and you can schedule your skips in advance– this is a really nice feature. So if I want this monthly I sign up for every 2 weeks but then skip one of the deliveries.
+ Nice recipe sheet with info on each of the 4 juice combos and nutritional info too. Also it tells you by what date you should use each bag.
BAD:
– Honestly it’s not that much produce and it’s nothing high end. So I feel that $40 is way high, even for organic. It makes enough for 8 glasses of juice total… which is not very much.
– Geared towards juicers (not a big deal… I just add ice and coconut water)
– It’s not really making your life any easier, unless you’re a shut-in I guess. You still have to wash, peel, and chop everything.
– A lot of overlap in the recipes. Apples and pears and lemons were in all 4 of mine. Carrots were in 3 of the 4.
– Be prepared to make your first juice the day or the day after you get it or the produce starts going bad.
– Factor in shipping of produce that you could have bought locally… not great for the planet.
All in all? I think I’ll try at least one more delivery – even at full price.

I mentioned this in the other farmivore comments: I recently ordered a VitaMix for my new year’s resolution (if anyone’s in the market someone gave me code for FREE SHIPPING on the VitaMix – $25 value: Code 06-004462). Their certified reconditioned blenders are currently $259 on their site (can still use this code).
I ordered 2 weeks of the farmivore – green boxes – so far. The recipes didnt seem to vary much across the weeks (swapped one major green for another – but main ingredients the same). These are definitely focused on juicing – at least from instructions perspective. Maybe it’s just because I am new to my Vitamix and I’m not as familiar yet. Seems easy enough to catch on and add water. But still, there could be more direction. And the recipes could vary a little. Let’s see what next week holds. Maybe I will do the mixed box. I was hoping for the healthy ones to vary more.

This is a great deal and the company is responsive on the blog. Enjoy!

Wow… I’m not a juicer, but for what looks like a heck of a lot of organic produce, I might try the sub anyway!

Sweet! I’ve been considering this sub- we make smoothies all the time – but the price point is ridiculous ($40… a WEEK, not month) (can get every 2 weeks, but not more than that). This is a nice way to give it a try.
Do be aware that they say that their recipes are optimized for juicers, not blenders. I have a vitamix (ie a blender) but am going to give it a shot anyway.

It’s NOT ridiculous – this produce is organic! and it’s GMO-Free and it has free shipping. No offense, but it always amazes me when people complain about price when they are getting clothes made in USA or food without pesticides. This is actually a BARGAIN, just go to whole foods and see if you can get the same for that price. OK I’m off soapbox now.

my view the price is high 40 dollars you can get it cheaper at whole foods but the sale is worth a try . i am only trying this book becase of the sale to me the food boxes need sales with them they cost to much without a sale that said i am looking forward to my box with the sale if i enjoy it i would try every 2 weeks xoxoxo dorothy

You’re correct that there is a premium for organic food, but you are also saying the cost of “food without pesticides” is worth more than the environmental cost of having it shipped across the country. Buy LOCAL, everyone! Google a juicing recipe, go to your local market, stick the produce in a bag and you have the exact same product.
Brooke
Well of course you’re entitled to your opinion, but I disagree.
I shop at Whole Foods and similar, I buy organic fruit/veg, I make smoothies 3-4 times a week. And in my opinion, $40 for enough produce to make 8 glasses of juice is ridiculous.
But, I’m interested in the flavor combos they put together, so I’m giving it a try.

I’m outside the delivery area! So bummed, I was really excited to try this as we just received a new juicer for Christmas. 🙁

I sent an email. I know it’s a long shot, but I would love this sub! It is exactly what I am looking for. I think the price is very reasonable for quality produce, not to mention the convenience.
Teresa
Just sent my email, thanks!

Bummed I am outside of their delivery area. This is such a great deal! However, it also makes me realize how marked-up the prices are in the first place.

Decided to give it a shop. For $9.95 you can’t beat it. Plus this will allow me to finally use my Vitamix that has been sitting on my counter for a year.

This looks awesome! Somehow I think texas is a bit too far away for their delivery options :p

Really? And I always thought Texas was the center of hype organic veggie life….:) try Rawfully Organic if you are in the Houston area.
Maybe that’s why I always get my boxes long after Liz has posted a review…
