BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Box

BoxyCharm is a full-size and deluxe-size makeup and beauty subscription box. When they first started they were featuring drugstore brands like Revlon and L’Oreal, but lately they’ve been using mid-tier and high-end brands. (If you check out my earlier BoxyCharm reviews, you can definitely see the improvement in curation!)

Each box comes with a card detailing the products included.

BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Lashes

Lina Lashes Luxury Mink Lashes - Value $30

These lashes are gorgeous, and according to BoxyCharm's card, they are "100 percent handmade and gathered without harming animals in any way." (Subscribers will either receive these lashes or  Eyelash Luxury Mink Lashes)

BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Bombshell

Be a Bombshell Cosmetics The One Stick in The Hotness - FULL SIZE! Value $16

I'm not the biggest fan of this makeup brand, or the this color, but I will say that formula of The One Stick blends well. It also has pretty good staying power, and a little goes a long way.

BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Brush

Mistura Beauty Solutions Retractable Beauty Brush - Value $20

Eva NYC Clean it Up Shampoo - Travel Size (100 ml) - Value $7

I am always happy when their are makeup brushes in subscription boxes - it's helping me never have to actually buy them!

This shampoo unfortunately spilled a little in transit, but it's still almost 100% full. The shampoo smells good, and I've sampled and liked other Eva NYC products before, so I will definitely use it. (Judging from the card included, the haircare item from Eva NYC will vary box to box).

BoxyCharm Beauty Subscription Box Review – December 2014 Palette

Coastal Scents Revealed Palette - FULL SIZE! Value $20

This eye shadow palette is gorgeous and easily my favorite item in the box. I love all the neutral colors! It has 14 shimmer shades and 6 mattes - definitely enough for tons of different looks! The shades have good pigmentation and blend well too!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $93. I don't know how BoxyCharm does it, but I'm impressed! And I love that they were able to include an eye shadow palette in the box this month!

What do you think of the December 2014 BoxyCharm box?

This was my second box and think people forget that this box is only $21 dollars and that includes shipping. If the palette is listed as $40 but you find it for $20 well that covers the cost of the box and everything else is golden. I am loving Boxycharm I received Liz’s exact box and even if I don’t use everything it is a great value. I couldn’t purchase all this for $21

Hmm I thought Boxycharm sent out the same stuff to everyone. I got a Be A Bombshell lipstick instead of the all over stick and hairspray instead of shampoo. This definitely isn’t my favorite month of Boxycharm, I love the palette and the lipstick is a nice shade, but I duno. I hate hairspray, don’t use it at all and don’t use fake eyelashes either. Plus the eyelashes don’t come with glue either even if I did want to try them I’m not gona run out and buy glue. I still love Boxycharm and definitely get my money’s worth every month.

Ugh.. I like the palette and maybe the brush although the looks cheap. I don’t like anything else and I’ll probably cancel because I’ve yet to receive tracking and I had a question about my charm rewards and they never messaged back, sent two weeks ago and meshed l messaged another about when my box would ship and they haven’t responded or even replied to my Facebook posts. I see that many bloggers already got there box, does not seem fair. I don’t know if anyone has connections with Boxycharm but please if anyone does please contact them. It’s unacceptable to avoid emails, etc. I hardly use many of the products anyway so maybe it’s time to move on to a better sub.

12/15 and still no tracking info… They charged me on the 3rd per usual, and usually my box is almost here by now! 🙁

I’ve been subscribing for 7 months and only have received a tracking number 3 times. I just got my box today.

I love the coastal scent palette! I signed up for wannable thinking it was boxycharm, totally bummed out I made that mistake.

I signed up for this box because of the Revealed palette, I also happened to find Revealed 2 for cheap…but I still haven’t gotten a shipping notification (or a reply to my email several days ago asking if I’ll get it by Christmas) I wanted to give both to my mom for Christmas but I’m not sure at this point.

If I never receive another Be a Bombshell product again it will be too soon.
The rest of the box looks good. This is my only sub left – other than MSA. I’ve cut everything else. The Little Lace Box is calling my name but seems indefinitely sold out.

Am I that bad at math that I keep adding up the prices and getting $93 for the total box value? I’ve added them up 5 times and it always comes to $93, not $123. Still, not bad at all but it’s listed as being worth $30 more than it really is.

Oops – accidentally counted the lashes value twice. Sorry about that. It is fixed now!

I don’t like it when subs incorporate so many brands that you can easily find at discounted prices. It racks up the total box value, however:

1) a product is not necessarily worth the price just because it is at said price. There are so many of these weird inbetween brands like Be A Bombshell and Amazing Cosmetics that WAY overprice their items. I mean it’s Sephora and MAC pricing for drug store looking make up.

2) If I can find an item easily for 1/2 off, telling me it’s “$20” is b*llsh*t. That item is at the very most worth $10.

i agree. i got an entire set of eva nyc haircare products (including the one that liz got) in a travel case from urban outfitters for literally .99. i actually bought four of them and gave them as christmas gifts, i haven’t even used it myself because the price tag made me wary that they actually work (is that bad that i’m cool with gifting them though? haha)

Addie

I totally agree!

Becka

I totally agree. All these inflated prices make the cosmetics companies (and often the subscription boxes themselves) seem disingenuous.

To get the mink hairs for the lashes they keep the minks in cages and take them out to brush them which is actually very traumatic for the animals. Don’t let the “cruelty free” line get you. It’s actually really sad.

With Eva nyc you can receive the hair oil which has argan oil, the eva nyc hair spray, shampoo or hair mask.

Also you can receive the be a bombshell lip balm, lip stick, or the lip crayon shades all vary from box to box. I have heard of eyelashi but not lina luxury lashes. I am hoping for the hair oil and coral or plumb lip crayon.

Liz,

The complete spoilers are up for Fab Fit Fun including an 80 dollar eye serum, zumba dvd, a drink shake, and more $380 value. I purchased Blush the other day with there 24hr ten dollar off code. The entire box posted looks amazing!!!!

Wow! This may have to be my next box sign up. I just bought that palette from Birchbox (with my points, but still at full price!). This box looks like a great value.

Beth

You got yours already!? I haven’t even gotten a tracking number yet! That being said, this box looks great! I’m very excited about all the spoilers and can’t wait to see which hair product I get! Such a great value.

Sara

I’m super excited about the eyeshadow palette, even though I just bought it 2 months ago from Birchbox, I love it. Also excited about the Be a Bombshell stick, I think they’re super handy. Not too excited about the fake lashes, I’ll end up swapping those, but the rest of the box looks great, I love Boxycharm!

A YouTube unboxing video showed someone getting a hair oil for the Eva NYC product. So hopefully there is some variety, I hate getting shampoo without conditioner.

The retail on the costal scents website is valued at $40 or “list price” is $40 but they have the price reduced currently.

What a great box! Boxycharm was my first subscription service and I’ll never give it up. Every month I’m always impressed and they ship on time unlike other services.

This is one of those times that I wish I could enjoy makeup boxes. It looks like a fun box.

I couldn’t hold out anymore and I bought in earlier this month- so glad I did. There is NOT a thing in this box that I won’t enjoy! Thank you boxycharm and thank you Liz for keeping us abreast of all the latest and greatest!

bunnygirlbrem

According to the card, the palette says it is valued at $40… That would be an even better value! What a great palette regardless!

Reply ButtonReply

Emily

Most places sell the eye-shadow palette around $20 so the $40 value is probably a typo I’ve never seen it priced that high but I’m really looking forward to this box!
