Nerd Block Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Subscription

Nerd Block is a monthly subscription box for geeks and gamers. This box typically includes at least a figurine or two, and always a new exclusive shirt. Nerd Block recently introduced Arcade Block, (I’ll have the review up of the first box hopefully soon!), so this box is now known as Nerd Block Classic. Each month will have a different theme. This month's box is curated by Kevin Smith and the theme is Marvel vs. DC.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Info

Each box comes with a card detailing each of the items included.

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Tee

Jay and Silent Bob Tee - Value $18

This is pretty much the perfect shirt from a Kevin Smith DC themed box!

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review – October 2014 POP

Funko POP Vinyl DeadPool - Value $11

Subscribers will either get this figure in grey or red. My husband is all about building out his POP Vinyl collection, so he was very happy with this inclusion in the box.

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Cards

Arkham Asylum Patient Notes - Value $5?

Agent Coulson's Vintage Captain America Trading Cards - Value $40

Both of these items are awesome and make me wish Kevin Smith curated all Nerd Block Classic boxes!

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Post It

The Arkham Asylum patient notes book is actually various post it notes.

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Collectible Cards

And these replica vintage Captain America trading cards are such a cool collector's item, and from what I can tell are already sold out online. There are two packs available (regular and blood stained), and subscribers will get one version. UPDATE - this pack actually includes both sets of cards!

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Pow

POW! Pins - Value $3?

Jay and Silent Bob Stickers - Value $3?

Nerd Block Subscription Box Review – October 2014 Zelda

Zelda Dangler - Value $4

Danglers seem to be relatively prevalent in NerdBlock boxes (and Junior boxes) and they are one of those items that we just don't use, so this goes to the swap pile.

Verdict: I think this was a great box. The POP Vinyl, Arkham Asylum and Captain America items were the stand out hits for us. What did you think of the October Nerd Block box?

My son loves his Nerd Block and November’s was a great box. However, Nerd Block is a pain to cancel. I have my 3rd cancellation request in to cancel before December’s billing. He is cancelling because of the program he is involved in Tae Kwon Doe which is expensive.

I do hope to see Hero Crate box 4 and Nerd Block November reviews. Both boxes are great. He is happy to end on amazing boxes.

The cancellation went through today. He loves his Nerd Block boxes, but wants to be responsible with money because of the increased cost in his lessons.

This is the first box that my 15 year old son has received that I felt was actually curated towards adults. He felt it was an excellent box. His favorite item is the cards which he tells me is pivotal in the movie. He took lots of pictures of them and text the pictures to his friends. It’s his favorite movie item ever. He also received the black Dead Pool which is another favorite of his. He’s into building up his POP figure collection too. He’s using the sticky notes for studying which I thought was clever of Kevin Smith to include because it is something that could be brought to work. NerdBlock sent an email stating that Kevin Smith likes Zelda which is why the dangler was included. My son is a huge Zelda fan and was happy to receive a Picori. He doesn’t like the shirt or the stickers because he didn’t understand the references to Kevin Smith’s movies.

This was my favorite box so far. In November one out of every seven boxes will have a Bruce Campbell autograph. But this isn’t the month that he chooses the box that sometime later.

Meh, you’re right. I totally missed that. Bruce is curating a later box. Oh well. I ordered a second November one but at least that doubles my chances of getting an autographed postcard. Tricky, tricky Nerd Block!

I *loved* this box. Kevin Smith did a great job – I didn’t think the Zelda thing fit, but otherwise it was cohesive, fun, and a great value. Was going to cancel after this, but Bruce Campbell?!

I was super impressed with this box. I love the shirt, post-it notes and stickers, and the value on these cards is amazing. I love Kevin Smith so I was excited to see he was curating the box, but OMG…Bruce Campbell is curating the next one! My husband and I are huge Campbell fans. A lot of people don’t know that he writes books, too, but they are absolutely hysterical, so check them out. Really loving Nerd Block!
