Golden Tote Review - October 2014 - $49

This month I bought two Golden Totes – a $149 tote, and a $49 tote. This review is of the $49 tote. (Check out my other review too!)

If you aren’t familiar with Golden Tote, here’s a really quick intro: Every month you get to pick out 1-2 pieces, and they surprise you with the rest. FYI – This is not a typical subscription, each month they release a new collection and you can decide whether or not you want to buy it. For returns it's an all-or-nothing deal. You can return the entire tote for a refund, but you can't return individual pieces.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Golden Tote Review - October 2014 - $49 Tote Flannel

Thread & Supply Hooded Plaid Button Down - Value $41

This was my pick for this tote. I've been really happy with the quality of Thread & Supply shirts in past totes, and I couldn't pass up a hoodie-flannel! This is my go to holiday/cozy top! (This top is still available in all sizes).

(100% Cotton)

Golden Tote Review - October 2014 - $49 Tote Sweater

Le Les Sweater - Value $50?

This sweater is semi-see through so it will need to be layered. It drapes in a very flattering way, and the back adds some interest to the look:

(50.1% Rayon, 47.1% Polyester, 2.8% Spandex)

Verdict: I'm very happy with both of my pieces and I'm glad I added the $49 tote to my order. (I could have just added the flannel top as an add-on for $35, but I would have gladly paid $15 for this Le Lis Sweater top, so this was a good deal for me. In general I think the $149 tote is a better value, but the $49 tote is still a win!

What do you think of the $49 Golden Tote surprise item?

Just got my large flannel shirt. I exercise and am somewhat toned, my bicep/tricep measures 12.5 in flexed. your sleeve is 13in. Really? do you only sew for stick girls? The paper crane floral top was the same. Large women have larger boobs. Mine are c cups, not gigantic. the buttons pull and gap. really? a large size for flat chests?
Again with the kimonos. I was hoping for something different, like maybe a dress? pants? a sweater? Not a polyester kimono: at least the 2 Tomatoes are higher quality but really, how many can I wear? (I definitely WON’T wear the grey poly one)
I wasted $49. I won’t even try to swap the grey Cut and Sew, would be embarrassed when they got it. If you are tall and thin, maybe the flannel would do but don’t work out! You’ll pop the arm seams, and heavens, DON”T wash it. LOL

Wow I love what you got!! I have been debating forever about getting this sub but since having my two little ones, I’m very picky on what I wear and what is/isn’t flattering. But I really love both your items this month!!

I love the Le Lis top and the red flannel. I’ve considered getting another tote but I don’t think I’ll be able to get that Le Lis top as a surprise. I requested it for a surprise in my large tote and was told it was gone in my size. I might pick it up on the swap page. My large tote comes Thursday 🙂

Paid $30 today for the Le Lis brown sweater with patterned back. And I still want to red flannel but large is now sold out. I’m a medium but I heard this top runs very small so I was gonna size up. $50 for these two pieces is a great deal.

I thought you were supposed to get more than 1 extra piece in the $49 tote. Is this a grew thing that toot only get one or have I not been paying attention? Also, is the flannel fitted and does it run true to size? I love both pieces!

The flannel is somewhat fitted for a button down shirt. I definitely would not have fit in the medium. And from what I know with the $49 tote, it will have 2-3 items total, so getting just one surprise item is possible.

Hope that helps!

I think that both of the totes that you have received this month have been great. All of your items are all pieces I really, really want! Good job Liz!

I agree – I think this is my favorite tote month yet! 🙂 Usually I get one or two boxy items I have to get creative about styling!

This gives me hope. I got a $49 tote and am convinced I am going to get the jewel cardi, which is just a little too loud for me. Fingers crossed because that is a lovely sweater!
