Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – September 2014 Box

Wantable Accessories is one of the three Wantable subscription options. Each month they typically send you three items in categories like jewelry, scarves, sunglasses, etc. You can heavily customize this box by picking out which categories of items you want, and what styles and materials you prefer. (Lately I’ve been requesting only scarves and hair accessories – but now that fall is coming up I think it’s time to request leggings, socks, etc!)

Wantable kindly sent me this box to review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – September 2014 Info

Here are the categories I picked out. You must pick at least two categories for your likes or loves. You will never get any items on your dislike list.

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – September 2014 Scarf

Rachael Scarf - Value $19

While I'm a huge fan of scarves in subscription boxes, I'm not too excited for this scarf since the colors are more spring/summer than fall. (The description on the invoice even says "The perfect summer scarf!") Hopefully they stop sending out perfect summer anything soon!

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – September 2014 Necklace

Ashlee Necklace - Value $32

For the longest time I only selected scarves and hair accessories for my subscription, but this month I decided it was time for more variety, so I added jewelry to the mix! I like this necklace so I'm happy I expanded my profile interests. I would say it is on par with the quality of Your Bijoux Box. (And just slightly a lesser quality than Bauble Bar).

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – September 2014 Watch

Melissa Watch - Value $29

I wish there was a way to get very specific about metal preferences. (I like gold but usually not rose gold), but Wantable counts rose gold in the gold category. That being said, I surprisingly like this watch a lot. It has a hinge closure and fits perfectly on my wrist.

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review – September 2014 Headband

Headband - Value $10

I think I'm going to remove hair accessories from my preferences for a while. (Since I prefer gold for jewelry, that also impacts the type of hair pieces I receive, and sometimes I feel like that results in cheap looking hair pieces).

Verdict: This wasn't my most successful Wantable box to date, but I do really like both jewelry items, so those pieces are wins for me. Do you subscribe to Wantable Accessories? What are you favorite types of items to get from this subscription?

I just got my first Wantable boxes and also had a frustratingly negative experience. The September makeup box had a damaged blush item (what a crazy, bright, powdery mess!) and an item I had on my dislike list. The September accessories box was AWFUL: all four items looked very cheap, and were unseasonal, uninspired, and ugly. It had two small, totally unimpressive pairs of silver earrings (yes, my preferred metal tone), a scarf that has a lot of white in it (SO spring or summer, but definitely not winter), and a necklace that is literally the ugliest one I have ever seen (it looked like a very bad, blue, large macaroni necklace made by a demonic child). Anyhow, I called customer service and am getting replacement makeup items, a bit of store credit, and I will return the accessories. So I feel…better, but still disappointed. For $40 a month (or slightly less with a discount), these boxes should be a lot better. Glossybox is half the price and twice the quality– non-customized, for sure, but that feature doesn’t seem to be working for Wantable now. My dilemma: try again for accessories? Or give in to my suspicion that it’s a racket to offload cheap, Chinese-made junk for crazy high prices?

I love that watch! What brand is it? I would love to find it to purchase it. Thanks!

This is why I cancelled accessories. As much as I love my intimates sub, the accessories has always been an epic fail. I disliked necklaces and got 3 that month. I disliked watches and sunglasses and got 2 of each. And I didn’t like a single thing they sent, and I’m super easy to please and rather adventurous. For some reason they just can’t seem to get this sub right for a lot of us. It feels like an entirely different company handling it. But it’s better than Cate & Chloe. I bought my Mom and 3 month sub as a gift, that ended in August. She got a box this month and I got hit with another charge for $108! It did not auto renew and I definitely didn’t buy another or otherwise consent to the charge. It’s so irritating when companies make “mistakes” like that since it will take up to a week to get credited back for something I didn’t order in the first place. I had to ask for my credit card info to be completely deleted (they have an option for it under account settings but oddly, my card isn’t saved there….) At least with Wantable it’s easy to cancel and resub as you wish. I’ve never been charged without making it happen myself.

Bonny,

May I suggest returning the box? It will credit back to your credit card. It’s hassle free and I’ve done it before. They will email you a label which you can tape on the box with clear tape and drop off into a package chute at the post office. I’ve done this twice with the Wantable Intimates box and had no problems.

Based on Liz’s box and the comments and I’m glad I decided to skip this month. Maybe they’ll have summer out of their system by Oct. I live in a hot climate, so I used accessories and color palette to make the summer-to-fall transition since it’s still too warm for sweaters and such.

My biggest problem with Wantable accessories is that I always like everyone else’s boxes more than mine! I’ve tried tweaking my likes and dislikes so many times and even made them exactly like a friend’s who always gets the neatest things but still didn’t get anything I really liked. This month was a complete disaster. I got 2 pairs of the cheapest tackiest earrings I’ve ever seen, a watch by the same brand you got that is damaged (a scratch on the side), and a scarf (even though I have scarves in my dislike category). Sadly, I like the scarf more than anything in the box so I kind of want to keep it. The other pieces are so awful that I don’t think anyone on the trade site will even want them so I’m not sure what I’m going to do! 🙁

Hi Holly,

I would reach out to their customer service team. Explain you recieved a damaged item, and a scarf which isn’t included in your profile.
They sent me a damaged item and items I wasn’t suppose to get I sent them pictures and they sent me replacement out ASAP. I didn’t have to do anything. So I advise contacting them, they have excellent customer service!!
Good luck 🙂

you can def. return the whole box if you’re not liking it!

Well that’s my dilemma…I actually LIKE the scarf they sent me (although they really shouldn’t have sent me a scarf in the first place since I have scarves “disliked” in my profile) and I want to keep it. I had also used a $10 credit and $10 off coupon so I’ll only get $16 back if I return and I’ll feel like I wasted my credit. I should probably just quit complaining and enjoy my $16 scarf, right? 😉

I received my first box yesterday. 2 summer/ spring like colored bracelets, a dainty long thin necklace and a tiny ring ( toe ring?). I was a little disappointed. I was hoping for fall like items. MAYBE THEY ARE TRYING TO GET RID OF THEIR EXCESS SUMMER ITEMS. I was hoping for a scarf or watch, but I’m kinda glad that I didnt get that scarf that Liz posted. My first box was a sad box. I will have to wait a year before wearing 3 out of 4 items. Not sure if I will stick with this sub. And…the jewelry felt cheap..in my opinion. I’m sad because I had read so many good reviews. I have 23 sub boxes and I think I had higher expectations for this box due to the price.
