This was probably my favorite meal in the box. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Plus it was naturally dairy and gluten free!

The one thing I would change about the way Blue Apron works is the way you select recipes. You can choose the Meat and Fish option or the Vegetarian option, but you can't pick and choose from each. My husband and I don't like seafood typically, so we'd love to swap in a vegetarian option for the 1 fish meal each week. Since that wasn't possible, I decided to make this dinner for my mom - she loves shrimp and lemon!

So while I didn't try this meal - I can tell you that my mom loved it!

I had never cooked millet before, but I was thrilled that this was another gluten free and dairy free recipe. (Well, I omitted the parmesan cheese for my plate).

This meal was delicious too! And in all the recipes I found that the serving sizes were very generous.

Verdict: It's official - I'm getting addicted to meal delivery subscription services! I love that all the ingredients are fresh, the recipes are healthy, and since I avoid gluten and dairy in my diet, it's great that I can pick weeks with recipes that will work for me! I love Hello Fresh, Blue Apron, and now I can't wait to try Plated this week!

Have you tried Blue Apron yet? What do you think of the service?

Thanks for sharing the coupon code. I am getting ready to try Blue Apron out tonight. It’s a bummer I’ll have to wait about a week before my first shipment arrives, though!

We have approximately 50 Blue Apron meals under our belt (Sorry for the pun). We receive 3 meals per week, 2 servings per meal. The serving are large enough for myself, my wife and our 5 year old son. I enjoy cooking and learning about new ingredients and cooking methods has been enjoyable. I have enjoyed nearly every meal. My wife is not a picky eater, but is not quite adventurous. We went through all the recipes that we have eaten. She stated that she would eat about 50% of the meals again and there were only 2 that she actually did not like. The surprising thing is my 5 year is enjoying then and asking when are we having Blue Apron again. Bonus…. I believe our grocery bills are lower only based on the fact that I don’t seem to be getting as many fuel points at Kroger.

Plated tastes so much better in my opinion. You get to choose every meal so have vegetarian, meat and gluten free options. Plated has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me and my kitchen. I don’t enjoy grocery shopping and often times, the ingredients I need are not available. Plated ingredients are so healthy and all the meat is antibiotic free. The recipes are 5 star restaurant quality and I can proudly say that I made them. I can’t say enough good things about it. I get my food delivered, everything comes out fabulous, I’m learning how to cook better and my family and I can enjoy awesome meals. And I save money as well. It has really improved my quality of life. I wasn’t paid to say this. I just think it’s a great thing and everyone should experience this kind of joy in the kitchen. I love to cook now.

I have been using Blue Apron for several weeks now and I have to say, you can beat it! We have tried Hello Fresh and it doesn’t even come close to Blue Apron on Quality, quantity, shipping and packing and administrative problems. Hello Fresh fell way behind in all those areas compared to Blue Apron! Blue Apron far surpasses Hello Fresh. The taste is good, the recipes are acurate. I found Hello Fresh things were repeat and they called for thing that you didn’t need or forgot to tell you to divide the ingredients so you prepared it wrong and wound up going out to dinner that night and spending double cause the food came out wrong. They need to edit their recipes better. Just know, that Blue Apron is awesome and we haven’t had one bad meal out of 15 weeks! And Blue Apron is $10 cheaper a week!

I subscribe to Peach Dish (which is $20 a week for one 3 course meal) and I’ve been curious about Blue Apron. Thanks for mentioning the RueLala, I bought that to try it. My husband and I are trying to eat healthier, and are learning to cook, so I think this will be fun. Should we spend $80 a week on food subscriptions, probably not, but maybe we’ll choose one or the other!

I would love to try this, but since you can’t mix the meat option with the vegetarian option I don’t think this would work since I’m vegetarian and my boyfriend isn’t :/ Oh well. It looks awesome!

We’ll be getting our first Blue Apron this Friday. Very excited as this week’s meals (different from yours) sound yummy. A little disappointed that, since we live in SoCal, we aren’t able to try Hello Fresh or Plated.
