My PYM Mood Chews Review

Can These Gummies Improve Your Mental Health?

After a year of baking banana bread and crafting a lot of homemade cocktails to cope with the stress, boredom, and loneliness of the COVID-19 pandemic, PYM piqued my interest with their promise to help you live your best life by establishing easy daily rituals and techniques that promote everyday health and wellness. These were the things I was struggling to do while adjusting to working from home and raising a toddler in an upside-down world. I was more than willing to try a gummy supplement to help with this as long as it was safe, effective, and affordable. Over the course of my month using PYM Original Mood Chews on a near-daily basis, my respect grew for the brand's mission and the product itself.

Keep reading to learn the details of how these all-natural amino acid mood chews helped boost my mood through a month of ups and downs.

My PYM Original Mood Chews Review

The Effect
4/5 stars

The Promise: A natural, non-addictive supplement that helps support your brain and body's ability to manage and tolerate stress, anxiety, and feelings of overwhelm.

The Reality: A natural, non-addictive supplement that either does what it promises, or provides a pretty powerful placebo effect.

While I experimented with different dosages and taking it during different circumstances, I generally found my mood to be more calm and even when I took 1-2 PYM Mood Chews, as long as it was at least two hours after I'd consumed any caffeine. The brand recommends taking 1 or 2 chews to start your day, when you start to feel "overwhelm," or 20 minutes before entering a stressful situation. I chose not to take any in the morning (sorry, but I wasn't willing to give up my morning coffee), but the day after they arrived, I had an important professional meeting I was both extremely excited and nervous about. I took one at the recommended 20 minutes before the meeting, and definitely felt more relaxed than I'd expected. That meeting led to more high-stakes meetings, and I was grateful to have PYM available to help me perform at my best. On a daily basis, I eventually found my groove with PYM taking 1-2 chews daily around 3:00 pm to help prevent a mid-afternoon slump.

The Taste
5/5 stars

The Promise: Natural citrus flavor with no added sugar

The Reality: A delightful gummy that didn't taste medicinal

Honestly, these tasted just like my daughter's favorite organic fruit snacks. As they are not intended for use by children, be careful to keep them out of reach of little hands. I could easily picture a young child mistaking them for candy and devouring an entire tin.

The Packaging
5/5 stars

The Promise: A fully-recyclable shipping box and tins you'll be excited to share on social media

The Reality: Cute, cheerful branding that you won't mind reusing

Remember in the '90s when everyone saved their Altoids tins for storing little treasures? These citrus-hued tins are even cuter. I've already started using them for storing small craft supplies. I also felt more excited to try them after seeing the inspirational messages on the shipping box, and checking out their blog, which provides great information on dealing with everyday mental health challenges.

Good to Know

Amino Acids and Adaptogens

PYM co-founder Zak Williams says on the brand's website that he began researching botanical adaptogens and amino acid complexes that "help our body recalibrate itself so it can heal itself" while he was dealing with the fallout from a period of depression following the death of his father, the actor Robin Williams.  The three active ingredients found in PYM Mood Chews are the amino acid L-Theanine, the adaptogen Rhodiola, and GABA, a naturally occurring  chemical produced by the brain. While a Google search will reveal that there have been studies with promising results for these ingredients in reducing effects of anxiety and depression, there is no conclusive science backing up the brand's claims.

In short, PYM may be helping you feel more focused and less anxious because of its ingredients, or it may be providing those benefits through a placebo effect. On the other hand, there's no evidence that these supplements are harmful (although before taking them, you should consult with your doctor to make sure they won't interact badly with any of your prescriptions, and PYM is not recommended for use by children or adults who are pregnant or breastfeeding.) If they work for you, they're a nicely packaged, all-natural, reasonably affordable supplement that can conveniently fit into your daily routine.

Shipping, Returns, & Subscriptions

Placing Your Order

If you just want to give PYM a try before committing to a subscription, you may want to make a one-time purchase. A 3-pack will give you a supply of 60 chews to try out, or if you want free shipping, you can opt for a 6 pack. PYM is also sold via Amazon.

If you're unsatisfied with your product, you can reach out to PYM regarding a return via their website.

Verdict

We're living in a world that seems to give us new things to stress over every day, and it can be easy to turn to addictive or otherwise not-so-healthy habits or substances to cope. While it's hard to ever really know if it's the supplement you're taking or the placebo effect that's making you feel better, the makers of PYM seem truly dedicated to helping customers improve their mental health. These gummies should not be seen as a substitute for medical attention if you're experiencing severe or prolonged symptoms of anxiety or depression, but they can provide an affordable, all-natural way too boost your mood when you're feeling a little down or anxious.

Rhodiola definitely works, so I’m not surprised these helped you.

I recently noticed that I would always be in a better mood the days I drank Yogi’s Sweet Tangerine good mood tea (I alternate between that and other green and herbal teas). It was weird, because I don’t tend to believe those things can really make a noticeable difference, but it did. I checked out the ingredients and figured it was the ashwaganda. Ordered some Wellthy vitamins (a brand I discovered through FFF!) with ashwganda and I feel pretty good. I highly recommend their vitamins even though they’re pricey, especially the Cleanse ones. Those have completely eliminated all the bloat and cramps I’ve been experiencing for a long time that I didn’t even realize were digestive related. Even if it’s just the enzymes in them, they’ve been life changing, seriously.

Anyway, didn’t meant to go on a tangent, just thought someone interested in these gummies might also benefit from those recommendations.

These sound interesting and the packaging is very cheery.

Lori, thank you for the recommendation for Yogi tea!! I bought some a few days ago and have switched from coffee to a cup of that in the morning and it really makes me feel good and alert without the jitters. Another commenter mentioned the stress relief tea, I bought that too but have not tried it.

I love Yogi teas! I have been drinking the Kava Stress Relief for years. I’ll have to try the Sweet Tangerine for a daytime tea.

Very happy to help! 🙂

100% agree with you about the Yogi Sweet Tangerine tea. If I drink it first thing in the morning I always feel good all day. Honestly I’m a moody person but my husband knows when I’ve had my tea lol.

Snow, I feel like we could be friends IRL 🙂

So weird!! I JUST purchased that yogi tangerine tea and received it just the other day! I have been feeling really overwhelmed with the world and definitely needed SOMETHING. I don’t take medication for mental health but I do take “stress gummies” and now drink this tea. I do other things as well to diffuse and am happy weed is legal in my state 🥳

The world has gotten way too complicated and nutty for my taste so anything that helps me get through the day is a win for me.
