There’s always that one friend who knows how to cook just about any type of meal. Whether it’s baking holiday sweets, crafting the perfect side dish for get-togethers, or whipping up a 5-star tasting dinner on the fly, they’ve got it covered.

However, I’m definitely not that friend. In fact, I’m nowhere close! While I have the best intentions in the world when trying to cook for others, it always seems like there’s something bound to go wrong when I go at it alone.

So, I decided it was finally time to step up my game by subscribing to HelloFresh. After a few months of sharpening my cooking skills, everyone now thinks I’ve become a seasoned chef overnight. Ok, I’m slightly exaggerating, but my friends and family now dare to try my food and actually enjoy it which is all I ever wanted.

If you’re wondering how HelloFresh helped me to trick my friends into thinking I can actually cook, then say no more. Here’s a quick look at exactly how they supported me in my transition from a nearly helpless cook to a confident wanna-be chef:

Step 1 - I Gained Access To The Right Recipes

First off, I decided that if I was going to start making a real impression on my friends with my cooking skills, it would be best if I chose to learn recipes that weren’t the status quo, but rather creative spins on classic favorites. Luckily, HelloFresh has tons of recipes to choose from that fall under this category.

For instance, when first starting out I selected recipes such as South-of-the-Border Beef Taco Salad, Savory Ricotta Fritters, and Zucchini & Tomato Flatbreads that would be easy to learn, didn’t sound mysterious, and would be beloved by many. I knew that these dishes would be approachable but that most of my friends and family wouldn’t have tried these exact variations…which means they wouldn’t have a standard to compare them to.

Just my luck!

Step 2 - I Received Everything I Needed In One Bag

Rather than worrying about not having everything I needed, HelloFresh literally sent me each and every ingredient that was required for my recipes. This was quite the relief as I always seem to forget that one essential item that makes or breaks a meal.

Very rarely did I have to add anything else to my meals, other than something simple like cooking oil, or salt and pepper. When the time came to make my meal, all I had to do was clear off my countertop, open the brown bag, and separate my items.

Step 3 - I Followed The Instructions On The Recipe Card

To my complete joy, I received an incredibly clear set of instructions with each meal I received. I could finally say goodbye to the days of wasting hours trying to choose the right recipe from endless online sources.

I never had to worry about botching a meal as the instructions were always correct and resulted in a final meal that actually matched its recipe card. Everything was laid out plain and simple - all I had to do was follow along!

What’s more, is HelloFresh always throws in recommendations for how to plate your dish. So, not only were my meals delectable, but they looked amazing too.
