First Impressions
Beauty Heroes believes in a less-is-more approach to packaging. My products arrived in a neat white box, nestled in crinkled, recyclable brown paper for safe delivery.
This month's discoveries are from Oio Lab, a brand rooted in Poland, whose sophisticated formulas are as effective as they are luxurious.
Of all my years as a true subscription box enthusiast, I've never seen a box play off past boxes as Beauty Heroes does with its One Way to Play card. It is brilliant! They refer to previous boxes, giving you ideas for which items may work together and how to mix and match different products. This month's card calls back to products from True Botanicals and Odacité.
As soon as I opened this month's delivery, I was drawn to September's Beauty Heroes products. Everything from the bright abstract shapes to the whimsical brand font tickled my interest, and I couldn't wait to open these beauties.
The Products

Let me tell you, I am so in the habit of piling on moisturizer at night; I have gone to bed with layers and layers of thick creams and oils just to meet my skin at baseline in the morning, and it is a struggle. Honestly, sometimes it is comparable to Mrs. Doubtfire's meringue facial! So when I opened this jar, I thought that there was no way this night cream could outdo my current layered technique.
Wrong. I was so wrong. I added a thin layer of cream to my face, and it was clear that this formula was not playing. It is loaded with skin-loving ingredients like liposomal melatonin to promote skin renewal, glycoin to restore hydration and radiance, chasteberry to calm stressed skin, and squalane for hydration. After a few nights of use, my mom came over for breakfast and said my skin was glowing. My skin has been looking plumper, as well, and now I am hooked on an $80 moisturizer - uh-oh!

This month's hero product is a serum-oil hybrid that performs magic on your complexion overnight. Its potent hydrogenated retinol complex has been so gentle on my reactive skin, and anyone with sensitive skin can confirm that it is tough to find a retinoid that doesn't irritate the skin.
This liquid gold uses lotus stem cells to promote skin renewal and Arctic kelp to improve the skin's elasticity. This felt great on my skin; it sank in without leaving a greasy or oily film, and I love that it isn't fragranced. My skin looks and feels healthier the morning after I use this product, and I feel like its effects will be more noticeable over time.
Verdict
Beauty Heroes featured two full-sized products from Oio Lab, and suddenly, I find myself looking forward to my nighttime skincare routine. For the last several days, I've used Oio Lab's Lunula Night Facial Treatment Oil and their Superpause Restorative Facial Cream, and I've noticed such a vast change in my complexion! Beauty Heroes features luxury brands that meet me ethically, and I trust that what I am using is safe for me and the environment. September's box has a retail value of $160; you're getting two full-sized products for $58.95, an excellent deal for anyone looking to expand and enhance their clean, eco-friendly beauty arsenal on a budget.
