What I’m Wearing This Week: Armoire

Mary Zubritsky
ByMary ZubritskyJul 3, 2026 | 0 comments

I survived the move, and we’re almost set up and ready to party. This time, I hired movers, repairmen, and white-glove service furniture delivery because the last two moves nearly took me out, and I was not about to put myself through that again. I’ve basically started over from scratch for the third time in recent years, which is hopefully the universe’s way of saying I’ve earned the right to stay put for a very long time. Because I am absolutely not doing this again.

Most of my old furniture did not make the cut and went straight to the dumpster, including the couch that my three bunnies, Mr. HGL included, absolutely annihilated. As you’ll see, I went in a very different direction this time and chose Barbie pink. I got targeted by TOV Furniture on Instagram, and they basically captured my heart and bank account. At first, I was only going to splurge on the couch, but then I kept browsing and somehow ended up with accent chairs, two lamps, and a pillow, and if we're being honest, there's probably more to come.

I’m thrilled with everything I bought. The hot pink couch makes me happy every single morning, and every other time I walk into the room, and it’s surprisingly comfortable too. If you’re looking for furniture that feels fun, unique, and a little less millennial grey, definitely give TOV a look.

As for D&G, they are absolutely loving life. They’ve upgraded from living underneath a couch to living underneath a coffee table and a Turkish bunny castle, because apparently the rug marks the edge of civilization and hardwood floors are quicksand.

Oh, and one of the most complicated parts of my move was putting that castle together. It took five hours, but it was totally worth it and quite a work of art.

WHAT I’M WEARING THIS WEEK: Armoire

Welcome back to What I'm Wearing This Week: Armoire. For the newbies, every Friday on WIWTW I'll recap the clothing rentals I wore for the week. I’ll take you on a trip through my life, where I’m going, what’s missing in my closet, my current obsessions, what I’m excited to try, and maybe even buy. We’ll explore designers and trends, and a variety of styles and brands. And each week I’ll fill you in on why I chose each item, the total value of the rental compared to the retail price.

Armoire, which is a clothing rental company for women, is all about female empowerment. From the hand-selected and curated inventory of styles that are designed by the Boss Lady, for the Boss Lady, to their involvement with female-powered brands, and their partnership with Dress for Success Seattle, they’re a brand built for today’s woman.

This is a review of the Unlimited Plan for $249/month.

WHAT I RECEIVED

All three items by Avec Les Filles, The Modern Abstract and Milly arrived fresh from the dry cleaner, neatly folded, and sealed in a shipping bag.

Avec Les Filles Cotton Sweetheart Midi Dress, Retail Value $148, Armoire $133

About the designer: We’re AVEC LES FILLES, or “With the Girls”, en français. We launched in 2017 with a mission to offer trend-driven fashion that is distinctive and personal, yet versatile and accessible.

RETRO ★ STREET ★ RUNWAY

Our aesthetic style is based on three pillars: retro details, street influence, and runway inspiration. We are sure to have something that speaks to your authentic style. We are the culmination of “je ne sais quoi” style that Parisians innately possess. Born in LA, living in NYC, and inspired by Parisian chic, we were made for the world. We’re constantly evolving to fit your lifestyle, but we’ll always remain true to our values.

Why I rented it: I wanted a breezy summer dress that still felt polished enough for an all-hands meeting, brunch, or a night out on the town.

How I styled it: I paired it with Kendra Scott jewelry, Saks bow kitten heels, and a vintage Chanel bag for a look that felt sweet, classic, and very summer-in-the-city.

Size and fit: I rented a size 6, and I’d say it fits true to size. The adjustable straps were a nice detail, as they made it easy to fine-tune the fit across the bust. The dress features a sweetheart neckline, a flattering fit-and-flare midi silhouette, side pockets, and a concealed back zipper. The stretch cotton fabric also made it especially comfortable for hot summer days when you still want to look pulled together.

Condition: Brand new with tags.

Honest review: Suuuuper cute and one of those dresses that just feels made for summer. It’s feminine, comfortable, and easy to dress up or down, which is always a win in my book. My only complaint was that one of the adjustable strap buttons wouldn’t lie flat and kept gathering the fabric a bit, so that detail felt slightly fussy. Other than that, I loved it.

The Modern Abstract Libby Dress, Retail Value $156, Armoire $140

About the designer: I can't find anything about this designer online. The only thing that pops up is in Armoire. Wonder if it's an exclusive brand that they created.

Why I rented it: The print and silhouette immediately caught my eye. It felt polished and ladylike, but the peacock floral print gave it a fun, unexpected twist.

How I styled it: I paired it with my Louis Vuitton Capucines and Marni colorblock sandals for a look that leaned into the dress’s playful-but-polished vibe.

Size & fit: I ordered the medium, and overall it fit well, though it was a little short on me, so I wouldn’t have felt comfortable wearing it to the office. The dress is made from silky cotton and features a scalloped collar, front button closure, self-tie belt, and a scalloped hem. The floral peacock print feels cheery and unique, and the tailored silhouette dresses it up a bit.

Condition: Brand new with tags.

Honest review: I loved the scalloped trim, the floral peacock print, and the sophisticated-but-playful silhouette. That said, the fabric felt a bit flimsy in person, and the belt was comically long, which made the fit feel less polished than I’d hoped.

Milly Grand Foliage Poplin Midi Dress, Retail Value $450, Armoire $405

About the designer: Since established in New York City in 2000, MILLY has garnered a cult-like following for its advanced contemporary fashion with a strong feminine point of view. Always crafted with the most luxurious fabrications, MILLY applies an exciting mix of high-end designer details, textures, prints, and color—made for women who want to be noticed. It’s clothing that calls for a moment.

Confident, fun, and always put together, the MILLY woman stands out anywhere. Jet set women from all over the world rely on MILLY to complete their wardrobes with everyday go-tos, statement-making occasion wear, luxury cabana and swimwear—and exclusive looks for every MILLY moment in between.

MILLY is worn by inspirational women everywhere including Beyoncé, Kate Middleton, and Michelle Obama, who commissioned the brand to design the dress she wore in her National Portrait Gallery painting in 2018. Today, MILLY is sold in 200 specialty stores around the world, as well as Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman.

Why I rented it: Because it felt like the ideal day-to-night dress, polished enough for the office, but chic enough to head straight to dinner or drinks without missing a beat.

How I styled it: I wore it with Nicholas Kirkwood sandals, Alexis Bittar earrings and necklace, and my Prada bunny bag for evening. By day, I swapped in my Valentino Rockstud tote for a more office-friendly look.

Size and fit: I rented the 6, and it fit true to size, even with the nearly 10 pounds I’ve gained since my injury. Made from crisp poplin cotton, this midi dress features an abstract foliage print, wide shoulder straps, a square neckline, a back-zip closure, and stitched-down pleats that give the skirt beautiful structure and movement.

Condition: Very good.

Honest review: A timeless classic. The silhouette, print, and length are giving Audrey Hepburn in the ’50s, and I was absolutely not mad about it. It’s one of those dresses that feels instantly polished the second you put it on, with just enough drama in the print to keep it from feeling too precious.

Oh, did you notice my grumpy potato? Apparently, she wants to be the new Mr. HGL (but, shhh... there's no comparison)!

DID THEY DELIVER?

  • What items were most helpful and versatile to own this week to ensure I got the most out of my rental and completed the look I craved? I held onto the Avec dress the longest, but all three were pretty great!
  • Did they meet or exceed expectations? Met expectations.
  • What’s the return process like? Place the items in the bag, seal it up, and that's it!

FINAL THOUGHTS

Update on my injury: I was slowly recovering... until I wasn’t. Things started going backward again, so I went back to my doctor. My physical therapist was convinced the issue was my SI joint, so he gave me a cortisone shot. For the first two days, I felt instant relief and thought we had finally cracked the code. By day three, though, I was in the worst pain yet.

After that, things calmed down enough for me to start working out again, but only for a week or two. About four weeks later, the pain came roaring back, along with a twitchy muscle running from my glute to my calf, Charley horse cramps, and shooting nerve pain that made it very clear this was not, in fact, the SI.

At my follow-up, my doctor told me the problem isn’t the SI joint after all. It’s a disc bulge and a pinched nerve, which he says should eventually resolve on its own. Eventually is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, considering it’s been almost a year. He suggested an epidural, which I’m considering, and possibly PRP, though he’s not convinced it would help and it’s expensive.

At this point, I’ve made peace with the fact that my running days are probably over. So instead, I bought a Cannondale, loaded up on accessories, and decided it’s time to join the bikers on the W&OD trail. See you outside!

If shopping were an Olympic sport, I’d be a gold medalist. And while my bank account often feels the crunch, I just can’t stop buying secondhand clothing and accessories, under-the-radar designer goods, stuffed animal unicorns (I have about 75), and toys for my pet bunny rabbit. After 20 years of city slicking in NYC and DC, I now have a car and love to tour the Virginia countryside looking for vintage shops, undiscovered wineries and breweries, historic sites, and Thai restaurants—I’m addicted to Thai food. I never leave home without a spare phone charger because I love horror movies and therefore have an irrational fear of being stranded somewhere with a dead battery.
