IPSY is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $15 per month, you get five full-sized or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.
This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box — the value and sample sizes are amazing. Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month — so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).
First Impressions
Each month, IPSY subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month’s theme is ‘Blend the Rules,’ celebrating what would have been Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday. I can appreciate the inspiration, but a hot pink satin-feeling makeup bag with an oversized bow?! That’s just not my style. That said, my mom thinks it’s pretty, so I’ll probably pass this along to her. Let’s see what’s inside!
Included is a product card that features a list of the products and beauty tips.
Now, on to the items!
AKAR SKIN Soothe Cleansing Milk, 15 ml - Estimated Value $7.50
I’m always happy to see a cleanser included in my subscription box, and the Akar Skin Soothe Cleansing Milk immediately caught my attention with its bright, bold red packaging. I also have to say, I was intrigued by how heavily the formula leans into its "super" ingredients, blending a variety of SuperFlowers, SuperPlants, and SuperFoods. It may sound a little trendy on paper, but after some consistent use, I feel like it has the results to back up the claims. The cleansing milk leaves my skin feeling clean without feeling stripped, and I’ve noticed it feels softer to the touch and a bit more plump afterward, almost as though the formula helped restore some of the hydration my skin tends to lose throughout the day. Best of all, it plays incredibly well with my sensitive skin, which is something I always appreciate when a formula relies more on nourishing plant-based ingredients than a laundry list of harsh chemicals. I’m still not sold on the name "cleansing milk," but considering how gentle and hydrating this cleanser has turned out to be, it looks like I’ve got a new fave on my list.
KATE SOMERVILLE Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream, 5 ml - Estimated Value $8.40
Huh… Another "milk" product. Is there some kind of milk theme going on that I’m not aware of? Whatever the case, I was truly interested to see this Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream from Kate Somerville in my bag. I’ve had great experiences with this brand in the past, and I’m happy to report that this moisturizer has ended up being another pleasant surprise. It goes on a bit thicker than I expected, so I was initially concerned it might clog my pores (since my skin tends to be extra sensitive when it comes to heavier products) but that wasn’t the case at all. Instead, it absorbed beautifully and left my skin feeling soft and supple as well as hydrated without any greasy or tacky residue left behind. The formula features nourishing oils including avocado, grapeseed, and jojoba oil, which work together to support the skin’s moisture barrier. Although I generally prefer my moisturizers to be completely fragrance-free, this one has more of a fresh, natural scent that never feels overpowering or irritating, so I wouldn’t say it’s a dealbreaker if you’re sensitive to scents. Overall, this was another skincare win from a brand that continues to impress me.
MISCHO BEAUTY Transfer Proof Lip Liner in Heaven Sent, 0.31 g - Retail Value $18.00
The MISCHO BEAUTY Transfer Proof Lip Liner in Heaven Sent definitely lives up to the transfer proof part of its name. After swatching it, I tried wiping it off just a few moments later and quickly realized it wasn't going anywhere without a bit of elbow grease, which really impressed me. If you're looking for staying power, this liner absolutely seems to deliver. Now, lip liners aren't really my thing these days since I don't wear a ton of makeup anymore, but I do have to admit that Heaven Sent is a beautiful, versatile neutral that complements my skin tone really nicely. The formula itself is creamy and glides across the skin effortlessly, while the precise tip makes it easy to create clean, defined lines without tugging or skipping. It's also infused with nourishing ingredients like marula oil and vitamin E, which help keep the application feeling smooth instead of dry or chalky. While this isn't the type of product I'll reach for often, I can definitely appreciate the quality and can see why someone who regularly wears lip liner would enjoy having this one in their makeup bag.

FORMULA Z Party Diva Eyeshadow Palette, 6 g - Retail Value $26.00
Okay, now this little palette is absolutely adorbs. I immediately fell for the compact size because it's perfect for tossing into an overnight bag, but unfortunately, that's kind of where my excitement starts to taper off. The FORMULA Z Party Diva Eyeshadow Palette features a mix of matte and shimmer neutral shades, which I can certainly appreciate, but I found the overall color story to be a bit…too safe. Personally, I would've loved to see a fun pop or two of color thrown into the mix to give the palette a little more personality. My bigger issue with this palette, though, was the pigmentation (or lack thereof). The shimmer shades, in particular, took quite a bit of building before I could achieve the level of payoff I was going for, making application feel more time-consuming than it should be. The shadows themselves feel smooth enough, but I just kept wishing they'd pack a little more punch. It's certainly a cute, portable palette for someone who enjoys soft, everyday neutral looks, but if you’re looking for a bolder eye look, this could leave you wanting more.

OLIVIA UMMA Milky Resurfacing + Brightening Toner Pads, 7 pc - Estimated Value $5.60
K-beauty skincare is my absolute favorite, and to be perfectly honest, I used to be a wee bit obsessed. These Milky Resurfacing + Brightening Toner Pads from Olivia Umma have ended up being a lovely addition to this month’s lineup. I tend to gravitate toward spray toners simply because they’re so quick and easy to use, so while toner pads aren’t usually my go-to choice, these really won me over. Each pad feels soothing against the skin and delivers a nice boost of hydration while providing gentle resurfacing at the same time. The formula combines exfoliating acids with brightening and nourishing ingredients like niacinamide, rice extract, and milk protein, yet it never felt harsh or irritating on my sensitive skin, which I appreciated above all else. After using these consistently for a few days, I noticed my skin felt softer, smoother, and a bit more refreshed overall. They’re the kind of product that makes skincare feel less like a chore and more like relaxing little self-care moments, and I could definitely see myself reaching for them again.
The Verdict
This was a solid, skincare-heavy month for IPSY Original! One of the biggest standouts for me was the Olivia Umma toner pads, which left my skin feeling noticeably softer after just a few days of use, providing gentle exfoliation without a hint of irritation. Akar Skin’s cleansing milk was another easy favorite, delivering a gentle cleanse that left my sensitive skin feeling hydrated, plump, and comfortable thanks to its thoughtfully curated blend of nourishing botanical ingredients. Kate Somerville also came through once again with the moisturizing cream, which proved that a richer moisturizer doesn’t necessarily have to feel heavy or greasy, leaving my skin soft and supple without clogging my pores. On the makeup front, the Mischo Beauty lip liner did impress me with its incredibly staying power and creamy application. Lastly, the eyeshadow palette from Formula Z… While the compact size is undeniably cute and definitely travel-friendly, the softer pigmentation and subdued color story left me wishing it had a bit more personality and oomph to it. Overall, though, this was an enjoyable assortment that leaned more heavily into skincare, and I have absolutely zero complaints about that.
