IPSY Original is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $15 per month, you get five full-sized or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.
This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box — the value and sample sizes are amazing. Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month — so this review is for just one of the bag variations you might receive!
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).
First Impressions
One of my favorite things about the IPSY Original subscription is the excitement of discovering each month’s new bag design. I’ve been a subscriber for years, and the fun, creative styles—along with the amazing products—keep me coming back for more.
To celebrate the arrival of June, we received a Marilyn Monroe-inspired silky pink bag. This lovely bag features an oversized bow, a black zipper, and a bold red interior. It’s loud, dramatic, and oh-so-gorgeous!
Perfectly holding this month’s goodies, it also features an MM100 “Marilyn Monroe” charm on the zipper pull. I’m already loving the start of this month’s bag!
Also included is a product card featuring the “Blend the Rules” theme, along with a sneak peek at some of the IPSY Original products. It also includes a QR code for more details about this month’s bag contents and a preview of next month’s highlights!
Now, on to the items!
KATE SOMERVILLE Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $24.70
I do love Kate Somerville as a brand, but I had never tried this Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream before. The formula is lightweight and absorbs beautifully, leaving my skin looking hydrated without feeling greasy. It also has very little scent, making it a great option for those with sensitive skin. As an added bonus, it’s made in the USA!
Designed for both morning and evening use, this moisturizer can be applied after cleansing. After just a few uses, I noticed my skin looked more hydrated and felt softer overall. My skin is extremely prone to breakouts, but this cream didn’t cause any issues and worked well under my daily makeup.
It is on the pricey side, so I’m not sure I would purchase it for everyday use, but I really do like the formula and enjoyed the results.
REINA REBELDE Rebel Eye Definer Long-Wear Gel Liner in Traviesa -FULL SIZE! - Retail Value $19.00
The next item I received was this Reina Rebelde Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner. I’ll be honest—I gave up gel liners a long time ago in favor of liquid eyeliner, but this one worked surprisingly well for creating the cat-eye look I love.
As you can see, the line isn’t quite as crisp as what I can achieve with my favorite liquid liner, but the tip offers excellent control and precision. The formula itself is impressively long-lasting; in fact, the little squiggle I drew on my arm was still visible days later!
Overall, this is a great eyeliner with impressive staying power, and it performed much better than I expected.
SKIN&CO Roma Truffle Therapy Amino-Peptide Complex Face Serum - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $23.80
The next item I received was this Truffle Therapy Face Serum. The formula is incredibly lightweight and has only a subtle, earthy scent, which is typical of truffle-infused products.
Designed to hydrate and smooth the complexion, I found that it delivered noticeable results after just a few uses. Formulated with nourishing ingredients, including almond oil, it worked beautifully under my makeup without leaving my skin looking greasy. Instead, it gave my complexion a healthy, radiant glow that I really appreciated.
Overall, this was a lovely serum that felt lightweight, hydrating, and easy to incorporate into my daily skincare routine.
ATHR BEAUTY Desert Mirage Blurring Powder in Rose Mesa - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $8.00
This was an item I wasn’t sure I would like, but I ended up loving it! I don’t typically use a lot of setting powder, but I was intrigued by this one and excited to give it a try.
The powder is not very pigmented, but it blended well with my slight summer tan. I only applied a light dusting, and I was impressed by how much it helped blur the appearance of my pores. I’ve also been struggling with oily skin lately, and this helped control the shine without feeling heavy or cakey.
I was pleasantly surprised by this product, and absolutely love it!
DEAR MIDNIGHT Lip Sugar Scrub - FULL SIZE - Estimated Value $16.00
The last item I received was a lip sugar scrub. Even though it’s summer, I’ve been struggling with dry lips, likely because they’ve been getting a little too much sun lately. After just one use, my lips felt incredibly soft, and my lipstick glided on so much more smoothly!
This particular scrub has a pleasant flavor and taste, making it fun and enjoyable to use. My kids even gave it a try since they’ve been struggling with dry lips as well, and they were surprised by the results!
A wonderful way to end an already great box!
