First Impressions

December is here, and while it started off a bit chaotic, I’ve finally caught up on part of my list and am beginning to enjoy my very favorite time of year. Don’t get me wrong—my schedule is still absolutely insane—but I actually managed to sit and drink my coffee uninterrupted this morning before basketball!
To mark the upcoming Christmas holiday, this month’s Vellabox arrived just in time to add a little extra cheer and help create those calm, cozy nights after long, hectic days. December’s quote really resonated with me—the cute pups and the sweet message were the perfect way to kick off the month.
Aromatherapy plays a big role in my relaxation routine, and after busy days, this subscription is exactly what I need. If the soft flicker of candlelight and soothing scents help you unwind too, I can’t recommend it enough. Like I mentioned above, at the very beginning of December I was in a full-on panic because I hadn’t even started Christmas shopping—when typically I’m completely finished and everything is wrapped under the tree by now. I even contemplated skipping Christmas cards altogether because I felt so behind.
That being said, I’ve quickly recovered and am now back on track with my to-do list, which has helped my anxiety tremendously. I like getting things done early so I can sit back and enjoy the weeks leading up to my very favorite holiday. Soft lights are one of my favorite parts of the season, and the gentle flicker of candlelight instantly boosts my mood. The clean-burning candle brands Vellabox collaborates with are truly second to none when it comes to melting the day’s tension away.
Because so many candles contain harmful ingredients, I’ve made the switch from inexpensive, mass-produced options to high-quality, premium candles that are free from all those harsh chemicals. This month’s candle is made with sustainable soy wax, premium fragrance oils, and 100% cotton wicks.
The scent I received for December is “Winter Hideaway,” which features notes of eucalyptus, clove, amber, birch, cedarwood, labdanum, leather, and patchouli. This combination is perfect for December—woodsy, cozy, and full of holiday warmth that complements all the red and green decorations.
Minimalist in design, the clear glass jar and lovely red-font label coordinate beautifully with my Christmas décor and perfectly reflect Vellabox’s mission. I’m absolutely loving this month’s selection and have already burned it for hours!

Honoring life’s quiet details, they craft their candles with clean ingredients and custom fragrance blends in their studio in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona. These candles are absolutely fabulous!

Mini Wick Trimmer - Retail Value $10
This subscription is so much fun! I really enjoy the surprise inclusions, and this month I received something I hadn’t gone out and bought yet. I know candle wicks should be trimmed, but I usually just use scissors because I didn’t realize how helpful a wick trimmer actually is.
This little gold tool keeps my scissors clean and trims the wick perfectly. Not only is it functional, but its pretty design also makes it a cute piece of décor. It works well even with thicker wicks, and it’s definitely one of those items I didn’t realize I needed until I had it in my hands. Yay!

Vellabox is a fabulous subscription and one I look forward to receiving each and every month. Since I burn candles almost every day, it’s important to me that they’re free of toxins and harmful ingredients. Vellabox does an excellent job of curating small brands that are not only safe to use but smell incredible too! This month’s Winter Hideaway scent was absolutely perfect for creating a calm space and included some of my very favorite scent notes. With the addition of the Spotify playlist and the useful wick trimmer, my month felt complete. I already can’t wait to see what’s in store for January!
