First Impressions
The monthly Beauty Heroes delivery comes in a white box with a red-dotted sticker sealing it. Inside, our products of the month fit perfectly with the brown crinkle paper needed for it to arrive safely.
I may or may not have let out a yelp and a jig when I caught a glimpse of that LILFOX branding (I did). There's just no brand like it. How they capture the essences of nature in beautifully boggy ways, but also ways that are so healing and illuminating to the skin, is standout. On top of incredible performance and enchantic aromatics, the organic ingredients are wild-harvested, made in small batches, packaged with sustainable materials. It's one of the only beauty brands I find myself repeatedly scraping the bottom of the tub or bottle way too soon, and with a distinct sadness that it's gone. Let's see what they have for us this month.
Here's our monthly inspiration for how to work your new products into a ritual. Sometimes they mix and match brands that we've received in the past; this month they take us on a layered LILFOX journey. Sadly most of my previous LILFOX products are long gone, but despite the steep price tag, I could totally see myself investing in refills. As a treat.
The Products
LILFOX Drippy Cocoon, 50 ml - Listed Value $170
Our Beauty Heroes information card says that LILFOX has just released two products under their new L-Beauty banner, and what we have this month are the first of them. In fact, short of a cool, moody Instagram glimpse, there's no sign of this particular one, Drippy Cocoon, anywhere on the Internet yet. What a privilege it is to introduce it. BH describes it as:
"A vibrant serum concentrate designed to transform the skin's hydration response, [...saturating] skin in regenerative moisture while calming reactivity and fortifying barrier function."
It's powered by moss and goji stem cells (which are biotech stars that stimulate appearance of collagen production and enhance cellular adaptability), a blend of snow mushroom, cordyceps, and lion's mane for a boost of beta-glucans and antioxidants, and licorice root to target inflammation and discoloration.
As for the color? Vibrant marsh perfection. As for the scent, which you know is a highlight of these products? Not entirely dissimilar to Succulent Pudding in its bright mossiness—breezy but wet-smelling in such a glorious way. The directions recommend applying 3 drops after cleansing, then misting, then Succulent Pudding, then more mist, but I have been doing far fewer layers and my skin has been feeling perfectly hydrated by Drippy Cocoon and one or two pumps of Laurel Skin mist.
LILFOX Tomato Milk Cleanser, 100 ml - Retail Value $95
We now take a step back in our skincare ritual to visit the sidekick product this month. It may be the supporting role, but it certainly holds its own. Milky cleansers are my new thing, and this one is golden-lush to the touch, and filled with fruit enzymes, botanical salicylic acide, and nourishing phytonutritive oils. All at once it exfoliates, hydrates, and resets.
This is, in fact, my second rodeo with tomato-forward bath and body products. The first waas in the form of shampoo, and while as a real tomato-lover I wouldn't necessarily classify the scent as true to the experience of consuming a tomato, it was distinctly gardeny and green-seeming in its scent. This take on tomato is a little creamier, lighter, and juicy-smelling; of course the goal of LILFOX's cleanser here isn't just to mimic a scent but the let the natural ferments of actual tomatoes take on whatever scent they need as they do the work of supporting your skin's microbiome. Anyway, it offers a beautifully buffing cleanse without my face feeling stripped, leaving a silky skin feel behind. Absolutely love.
Verdict
Beauty Heroes tends to strike the perfect balance between introducing us to beauty brands and replenishing us with the ones we know and love. These two brand-new LILFOX products are scientific plant magic of the next level, and I'm living for them. This box costs $58.95. Our two products add up to $265. Through the roof value!
