Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $14 per month, you get five full-sized or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.
This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box — the value and sample sizes are amazing. Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month — so this review is for just one of the bag variations you might receive!
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).
First Impressions
One of my favorite things about the Ipsy Glam Bag is the excitement of discovering each month’s new design. I’ve been a subscriber for years, and the fun, creative styles (along with the amazing products) keep me coming back for more. To celebrate the arrival of August, we received a sleek, somewhat traditional bag. It features a mocha brown background, accented by three bold stripes in magenta, orange, and pink running down the center which was a chic and stylish touch. The gold zipper and pull add a subtle hint of elegance, making the overall design both simple and sophisticated. I love it!
Also included is a product card featuring the "Get Golden" theme, details about this month's bag contents, and a sneak peek at the upcoming sneak peek highlights!
Now, on to the items!
FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Rescue Barrier Balm with Dimethicone - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $5.71
With fall and winter on the way, I’m all about repair and rescue creams. Though this one is small, it packs a serious punch. The thick, creamy balm contains dimethicone, which forms a breathable, non-pore-clogging layer that helps protect and repair the skin while also strengthening the moisture barrier. Fragrance-free and non-greasy, it absorbs easily and feels surprisingly lightweight given its rich texture. While I initially thought it would benefit my hands the most, it’s actually done wonders for my face which has been an absolute game changer!
HALF CAKED Eye Defy Mascara in Black - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $3.07
I love, love, love black mascara and have tried dozens of brands in my 37 years—but Half Caked was new to me! I actually prefer deluxe mascara samples, as I find the smaller containers tend to perform better than the full-sized ones and this formula was right up my alley! With its deep black pigment and fluffy brush, it applied like a dream creating curled, voluptuous lashes without any smearing or clumping. It’s totally comparable to my more expensive go-to, and with the full-size priced at just $18, I’m seriously considering making the switch!
TIGERLOVE Joyce Deep Cleansing Facial Treatment - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $8.26
The next item I received was my August pick. I had my eye on this deep-cleansing facial treatment because I read that it contains hyaluronic acid, which has been helpful in keeping my acne somewhat under control. Not only does this cleanser remove all of my makeup, but it also seems to brighten my skin in the process! While the product itself is great, I actually chose it because of the packaging. Our school mascot is the tiger, and this tube features two tiger heads—absolutely adorable! You can bet I’ve already checked out the Tiger Love website and discovered they sell a lounge towel in the same print. Eek!!
HEY HONEY Prime Made Facial Primer - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $8.70
As I get older, I’m all about finding products that help smooth fine lines and help me look my very best and this month, I discovered the "Hey Honey Prime Mate Facial Primer." This primer is unlike any I’ve used before. It comes out in an orange-pink hue and has a slightly thicker texture than my current go-to, but it applies like butter and blends in effortlessly. Made with starch-based ingredients, it creates a protective barrier on the skin, while the pink pigments help smooth fine lines and blur imperfections. I applied it after a bit of ultra repair balm and loved the results! I could literally see a difference in how my makeup went on. While most people probably wouldn’t notice, I definitely could, and that’s a win in my book!
BEAUTY VAULTE Liquid Eyeliner in Black - FULL SIZE - Retail Value $18.00
The last item I received was my one and only full-size product. Over the years of trying subscription boxes, I’ve noticed that black eyeliner often gets a bad rap, but I happen to love the stuff! A classic cat eye is one of my all-time favorite makeup looks, and this particular brand did a fantastic job helping me achieve it. With a tiny felt tip, this eyeliner is super easy to use and impressively waterproof and smudge-proof. It promises to stay crisp all day and night, and I can absolutely confirm that it does. The test squiggle on my arm literally had to be scrubbed off with a pumice stone (my boys thought I somehow secretly got a tattoo!) With that kind of staying power, you can bet I am a convert!
I just love new beauty products!!
Verdict
I love the Ipsy Glam Bag and always look forward to trying out new beauty products. While I have my go-to brands, I'm always excited for the chance to discover something new! This month, I received five interesting items that have taken over my makeup bag! Absolutely loving each and every item, I have now converted two of my current brands! For just $14, I got to explore some new skincare and makeup brands—and it felt like a mini skin makeover! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the September curation. What do you think it’ll include?
