Here's What's Inside
TokyoMilk Wild Whims Eau de Parfum, 1 fl oz — Retail Value $50
I can always count on the eau de parfum of the quarter to set the tone for the entire Margot Elena Subscription Box. This time I need to lead with Margot Elena's description of this scent, because it made me smile: "Caught up in an exhilarating breeze of fragrant Sweet Grass and fresh-picked flowers, windblown Sage melds with crisp, clean Citron for a breathtaking fragrance, thick with adventure." And the fragrance notes say, "Wanderlust & Wild Abandon: Sweet Grass, Clary Sage, Verdant Florals, Citron."
I mean, yes, that's totally accurate! The layers to this aroma are magical. It encompasses a wide range of depth and brightness, and while the citrusy highlights of this scent carry it for me, there's also a spiced-herbal foundation to it. This earthy aspect has me feeling so nostalgic—it reminds me (in the best of ways) of Neutrogena Rainbath body wash, which was a staple in my family's shower in the '90s and at the time was agreed on by all of us as a brilliantly soothing and refreshing experience.
New! Lollia Lovely Essentials Cosmetics Bag — Listed Value $30
We all know and love the gorgeous florals that appear on the boxes and tubes and labels of Margot Elena products, and I'm chuffed to see them on a toiletry bag. This bag is roomy without being gargantuan, its script is embroidered, and its sturdy gold zipper has a black tassel on the end. The interior is a quilted pink cotton with one pocket. Inside comes a business-card-sized checklist that suggests this bag could be used to keep all the necessities handy in your carry-on. Cute!
Infinite She Empowered Ultra Lush Hand Cream, 2.3 oz — Retail Value $22
You'll see throughout my photos that my hands were in desperate need of some hydration, but I didn't want to fingerprint all the products as I was unboxing, so I waited until the end to go all-in with this hand cream. This cream contains shea and mango butters for deep nourishment and a botanical scent with another take on an herby citrus situation—this time more sunny and floral. Side note: I love when hand cream lids have a built-in point to poke open the foil seal!
Limited Edition! The Cottage Greenhouse Pomegranate Facial Serum, 2 fl oz — Listed Value $32
Ooh la la, it's our first-ever facial serum. It's a penetrating pomegranate oil that's meant to be applied once or twice per day to your face and neck. As someone with bangs, I generally save oils for evening, and this one is great for evening because it's rich and takes its time absorbing into the skin. It's a beautiful addition to my bathroom counter. It has no parabens, it's made from all natural ingredients, and it's cruelty-free.
Exclusive! Lollia Breathe Perfume Luminary, 4 oz — Listed Value $16
The Breathe scent from Lollia is so feminine, and I fully surrender to it! I think of myself as someone who's drawn to more gender-neutral scents, and I can't decide if the vintagey rose and peony vibe of this one is the outlier or if it's responsible for changing my notions of myself. Either way, that goes to show what we already know: that scents hold so much power. It went right into my bathroom to be lit anytime guests are here.
Limited Edition! TokyoMilk Bon Bon Lip Balm, 0.22 oz — Retail Value $12
We've received lip balms through this box a number of times in the past, but this is the first tub of lip balm I recall. And I'm quite pleased, because I like to keep lip balm in my car year-round, but I've lost a number of tubes to summer heat, so I now swap them out for tubs in the springtime. Much safer that way! This one is a honeyed apricot flavor and goes on so smooth. My kids love it too.
Exclusive! The Cottage Greenhouse Grapefruit & Blood Orange Body Wash, 10 fl oz — Listed Value $22
I've been chipping away at the Archive Poet at Heart shower gel from the Fall 2024 box and it's been taking longer than usual to get through because, to my surprise, my six-year-old has declared it's not her jam. It's marked as Rosehip & Lavender but from my experience it's a rather powdered scent, which is surprising for the Archive line. I still like it! But I do feel the Grapefruit & Blood Orange scent in this shower oil bottle is more squarely summery, and I'm excited to pull it into the mix. Plus, it's been awhile since we've received a shower oil, and I love how all at once they're gentle, hydrating, and lather well.
TokyoMilk It's Your Party, Thank You, and Rock On Greeting Cards — Retail Value $5.50 each
These are some of the best greeting cards we've received in the box! As always, they're cheeky, glittery, and come with an envelope. They're all blank inside. Recently I noticed I had collected quite a pile of TokyoMilk greeting cards and gave some to my mother-in-law. She's been using them to give to my husband, daughters, and me for various occasions, and it's so fun to be on the receiving end of these cards.
New! The Cottage Greenhouse Soothing Kaolin Face Mask, 2 oz — Listed Value $12
Here's another new product we're lucky enough to try before it hits the website—a sea clay mask. First of all, unfolding the cardstock wrapping to behold all the sweet designs and notes throughout is an experience I recommend. But also, they suggest a number of ways this mask can be used, and I'm amazed at how versatile it is. You could blend it with avocado or mashed banana! You could mix it with herbal tea! You could fold it with a drizzle of honey! Or just go the route of warm water. Leave it on for 5 minutes to let its Kaolin Clay cleanse, draw out impurities, and provide mild exfoliation, while preserving your skin's oils.
There are no parabens, no preservatives, and no perfume in this 100% clay mask. I would try it out and give you more details but I think this needs to be gifted to my friend who is pregnant and truly deserves this pampering!
Bonus! Lollia This Moment Petite Treat, .33 oz — Retail Value $9.50
I love when the Discovery Box sends these tiny handcremes. They're just the thing for a small purse or clutch. And no matter how tiny the tube, they're still the stunning and scent-filled experience of the full-size products, of course. It's a pretty floral scent with a summertime feel. Love.
Value - Was This Box Worth It?
The Cost: $59.99 + $6.95 shipping to the contiguous United States.
Value Breakdown: The summertime Margot Elena Box is loaded up with 10 items, counting the 3 greeting cards as a set. It feels so full and so brilliant! I appreciated having some staples refilled (like body wash and hand creams), and some new and exclusive items to explore (like face serum, clay face mask, and a new version of lip balm). Using a combination of retail values and listed values, the total value in this box is $222. This is a typical, wonderful value for this box, and there's so much in there that there's plenty to keep even if a few items are gifted.
Key Takeaways
My favorite product this month is the pomegranate face oil—it's just right for summer hydration—but I'm also starry-eyed over the candle, toiletry bag, lip balm tub, and shower oil. Truthfully, there wasn't a single "meh" item in this box for me; they all feel fresh and right for the season.
