Silk + Sonder is a monthly planner subscription that makes planning, reflecting, and achieving easy and fun by delivering a new pen-to-paper experience every month. Each planner features new layouts that are "inspired by positive psychology, bullet journaling, and self-help books." For an annual plan, the cost is $19.95/month. There are also quarterly and monthly plans available.

Silk + Sonder May 2025

I swear, I blinked once and April was gone. With May on the horizon, our schedule is absolutely out of control. Between baseball, work, school, and spring chores, I don't know if I'm coming or going! With so much happening, I need the Silk + Sonder planner to keep me organized and on track. Seriously, without this journal to help me manage practices, games, and work, I think I’d go insane!

While Silk + Sonder is a journal, it is also a planner, stress reliever, focus improver, mood booster, and productivity increaser! Centering around a new theme each month, this book has it all, and aligns with my needs perfectly. With 60 pages of amazingness, I look forward to opening this journal each day, and have found it to help keep my anxiety under control.

Simplicity - The art of focusing on what truly matters by removing unnecessary complexity and clutter, leading to clarity and a more fulfilling life.

I enjoy the fact that Silk + Sonder chooses themes for each month, and love the fact that the creator Meha is so very thoughtful when choosing each and every one. "Simplicity" was chosen for May, and I found it to serve as a wonderful reminder heading into such a busy, chaotic month. Now, let's get started!

One of my favorite aspects of Silk + Sonder is receiving a new planner each month. Starting fresh has been incredibly helpful, as yearly planners tend to make me feel overwhelmed. While this planner does include a year-at-a-glance spread, the calendar is too small to write in but perfect for referencing future dates. To kick off each month, I fill in my calendar with the dates I already know—and then watch the month fly by! This month doesn’t look as crazy as it actually is, since we only get our baseball practice schedule the weekend before, which makes planning tricky. Staying organized is a huge help in managing my anxiety, and having a calendar I can quickly reference at the front of the planner is exactly what I need to keep life in check without spiraling into a panic attack.

On page 6, we open up to a "Future Log." This includes two small calendars for the upcoming months. With just enough space to write small notes, I typically don’t fill this calendar up too much, but seeing June and July is getting me soooo excited for summer vacay! Yay!! On the opposite side, we have a blank piece of paper which comes in handy for note taking, lists, and more!

Page 8 offers a space to reflect on the previous month. With areas to write down your wins, challenges, and favorite moments, it’s a great way to learn what works and what doesn’t. This page is one of my favorites, as it highlights all of the month's accomplishments. It also features a section to note things you want to start, stop, and continue. April was very successful and stressful. My April wins included Poetry and Punch proudness, Junior High Baseball, Snocross fun, and spring gobblers! My challenges included wild weather, a fidget toy eye explosion disaster, and work stress. My favorite moments were a baseball win, beading and crafting fun, my Easter hat, and turkey! Overall, it was a wonderful month, and I can't wait to see what May brings!

I love the inclusion of the monthly intentions page. Here, you set intentions for yourself and re-read them throughout the month. With six categories and six boxes to complete, there’s plenty of room to jot things down. This isn’t necessarily a to-do list, but rather a place to get yourself off to a good start and remind yourself of things you'd like to work on. I have a lot of intentions for May, and most of them stay basically the same. I do, however, want to do more crafting this month as well as make it to summer vacation without too much stress. Wish me luck!!

As I mentioned above, this is more than just a planner, and these trackers are proof of that. Pages 10 and 11 offer a mood tracker and a habit tracker. We are given space to fill in our typical moods and track them throughout the month. This is great for identifying patterns, especially for me and my anxiety. I love that these trackers are customizable, allowing you to track exactly how you want in such a pretty way! Silk + Sonder typically ships a week and a half before the next month starts, so while I have created my "keys" for each of these trackers, I haven’t yet started tracking. I have some goals to hit by my niece’s wedding in June, and this fresh monthly start has been key to my motivation! May the month of May produce more results than April did! Eeekkkk!

Page 12 offers another tracker, this one being for sleep. I have no trouble in this department, so I usually skip it. The opposing page, however, is another one of my favorites. Page 13 offers a Gratitude Log jar that gives ample space to put multiple things down for each day. It's amazing how much a mindset can change for the better when you start your day off journaling what you are grateful for. I highly recommend it, even if you don't have this particular planner!

This month's theme was "Simplicity," and it came with a few thoughtful prompts. One asked me to identify three areas of my life where I can simplify. These could include physical spaces, routines, or mental clutter. I wrote down "physical spaces," but I also want to free my mind of worry. I’ve really been working on "giving it to God" and feel a strong pull in my relationship with Him because of it. The next question asked me to list three possessions or commitments that don’t add value to my life. I had a hard time coming up with an answer, so I left it blank for now—which is totally okay! Lastly, I was asked what steps I can take to simplify these areas. For me, it really boils down to taking the time to clean—and I’d be in good shape! I'll have to work on that. On the opposite page, there's a large space to collect images that represent simplicity, similar to a vision board. I typically struggle with this and feel it takes more time than I have right now. While I may end up doodling on this page as the month progresses, I’ve left it empty for now. Remember, this journal is for you—so use it in whatever way serves you best!

The next activity was one I’ve seen before, but with a slight twist. I was encouraged to write out my current routine and tasks, then categorize each as essential, important, or non-essential. I haven’t had much time to really dive into this yet, so I’ve left it blank for now. To be fair, I started this before May even arrived—so there’s still time. It’s a great exercise for being more intentional with my time, and I really appreciate it... I just might need a little more coffee and motivation to get it done! On the opposite page, there's a poem about life written by Charlotte Brontë. A beautiful ode to the daily grind, it reminds me to be grateful for every part of this journey—that from birth to death, life is both beautiful and necessary. It was a wonderful inclusion, bringing everything back to a simple, meaningful perspective that I truly needed to reflect on.

Pages 18 and 19 offer two more fun activities: an adult coloring page and a “Brain Dump” page. I loved the coloring page and even pulled out my markers for a little creative fun! I also really enjoyed the brain dump—it felt great to get all the thoughts swirling in my mind down on paper and release some stress. Phew!

Every Silk + Sonder journal comes with a recipe, and this month’s recipe included ingredients I didn’t have on hand. Let me know if you’ve tried it—it looks delicious! On the opposite page, there’s a "Self-Care Bingo" activity. This space is meant for you to add your own activities, making it even more fun and personalized. I can’t wait to hop to it!

Blank sheets are always helpful and a great place to do some long division, write notes, and jot down addresses!

Each month, we’re given some kind of mind puzzle, and this time it was a labyrinth. I used a pen, and it went pretty smoothly—only a slight detour needed. And guess what? I think I actually solved the riddle this month. Miracles do happen! On the opposite page is an expense tracker. While it’s a great feature, I don’t use it since I track my expenses in a Google Doc. Again—use this journal in whatever way works best for you!

I love the fact that this journal always starts on a Monday, even if that means it starts the month prior. Here you can see Monday is the 28th of April, and I am ready to take on the week. As far as this journal as a whole goes, I tend to put most of my time into these calendar pages. With sections for meal plans, to-dos, habits and activities, shopping lists, and specific day sections, I write everything here. It keeps me on schedule for each day and feeling accomplished, and there is NOTHING more satisfying than crossing out an item on my list. I also appreciate the extras these sheets have - while I sometimes don't fill out how I want to feel each week, this week I found it helpful to write it down and pray over it. This journal is just so darn helpful!!

Tidying up with one last quote, the dictionary definition of "Sonder," and the back cover, that's all there is to it. I have come to find that a key part of my day is when I sit and fill out my planner with my cup of coffee. This quiet time happens before the kids are awake, and kicks my day off to a good start before I start my school day. It is extremely important for me to keep a consistent schedule for managing my anxiety and creating much more positive life, and this journal definitely is a big help in that.

The Verdict

After a pretty wild April, I am ready for an even more wild May. This month is one of the busiest of the year, and Silk + Sonder has become a necessity and without this planner, I'd definitely be lost (as would my husband!) I continue to be impressed with this subscription, and can't wait to see what's in store for June.

I typically tend to allocate about 15-20 minutes a day to this journal and flip from front to back reflecting, adding to, and processing what I have previously written. By the end of the month, my brain feels much more organized and stable. The beauty of this planner is remarkable, and the packable size means I can tote it around in my purse. Being extremely impressed with all aspects, I am really looking forward to discovering more about myself, all while staying organized and offering myself a little daily quiet time and important self-care.
