Ipsy Icon Box Review Spring 2024

Ipsy Icon Box is a NEW quarterly upgrade for Ipsy members. It replaces your usual monthly bag in February, May, August, and November and costs $58. This delivery "includes 8 full-size products worth up to $350" and allows subscribers to pick three items.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

Everything arrived carefully wrapped in this protective layer. This made me happy because nothing arrived damaged. This Ipsy Icon collection is filled with some of Gwen Stefani's favorite beauty products.

The Items

My items arrived in a purple Ipsy box. Let's see what Gwen picked for us in this collection!

Gwen Stefani is an icon on all levels, music, fashion, and beauty! I was a 90s grunge kid and really connected to No Doubt because of their incredible female lead singer. I can't say that I've continued to follow her over the years, but it is good to see her happy and still successful! I love how this booklet tells a story of the products through her old songs. Super creative and fun!

Let's see what arrived:

TROPHY SKIN BrightenMD – Retail Value $32.09

They recommend using this tool for 5 minutes every day for best brightening results. I can totally get down with 5 minutes of extra self care a day! The little wand provides a low-vibration facial massage that works to de-puff and improve your skin's natural radiance. It is also warming which can increase the absorption of serums. The high-powered red light therapy helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and dark spots.

So far I am loving using this every day! I can't say that I've noticed huge results just yet, but I bet overtime I will. It also just feels great on my skin and is a nice way to wind down and take some extra care.

Dr. Jart Ceramidin Skin Barrier Moisturizing Cream, 50 mL – Retail Value $48

This cream is made with 5 Ceramides plus Panthenol to help boost elasticity, moisturize, and stengthen your skin barrier. The Panthenol also helps with water retention and barrier reinforcement. This cream is great for dry skin (me!) and helps to leave your skin feeling soft and supple.

I'll be honest, for a cream that is meant for dry skin, I can't say that I instantly fell in love with this product. I've been using it for a few days, and granted my skin is very dry right now from the winter and having a cold, but I wake up in the morning feeling really dry. I noticed that my makeup shows some dry spots more since I started using this cream as well. I'm going to keep using it to see if I see improvements over time, but right now I'm a little underwhelmed.

GOLDFADEN MD Plant Profusion Supreme Serum, 30 mL – Retail Value $235

I am shocked by this price! Something would have to suddenly turn me into a supermodel with perfect glowing skin at that price, if I'm being honest. While this serum is working well with my skin, I can't say that it is anything different than other similar products that I have used. So while I am so happy to be able to try such a high-end product, I'm not totally convinced that it is worth the money.

This serum is made with active plant cells and powerful hydrating agents to help make your skin appear smoother, feel firmer, and look stronger overall. It also works to improve the overall appearance of your skin tone, leaving you with a luminescent complexion.

LUNAR BEAUTY Setting Powder Translucent Light, 0.71 oz. – Retail Value $28

My skin is so dry that a setting powder just does not work for me. On a dry day, a setting powder just sits on my skin and draws attention to every little dry spot I have. Since I don't get shiny naturally, I don't really need anything to make my skin have a matte finish. While I love seeing products that I don't normally see in this box, this was a big pass for me.

This is a talc-free, loose-setting powder that you can easily apply and blend. It smooths and blurs to give you a shine-free matte finish.

FIRST AID BEAUTY 10% Vitamin C Brightening Serum, 50 mL – Retail Value $50

This is a product and brand that I am really familiar with and always love. This is a Vitamin C serum that works really well with sensitive skin. It is super lightweight as well and drinks into my skin quickly, so no sticking feeling after application. The serum brightens and tightens your skin while defending against surface free radicals. I love using this serum in the morning to help brighten my skin, plus it works really well with my makeup!

KIRAMOON Silkie Rinse, 180 mL - Retail Value $28

I'm always a little nervous to try new cleansers. I have been extremely happy with this non-drying cleanser because not only does it remove my makeup really well, but it leaves my skin feeling hydrated! This is made with proprietary glycerin to create a more balanced cleansing experience. Overall, I really love how this is treating my skin while leaving me feeling clean and fresh morning and night!

Kate Somerville HydraKate Recharging Serum, 30 mL - Retail Value $78

I love this brand! I've never tried this serum so I was really excited to test it out! This serum is made with Nobel Prize-inspired AquaPort Technology and potent hydrating ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid. It provides your skin instant and long-lasting hydration while targeting the 10 signs of premature aging as well.

I have been using this serum morning and night and can really feel a difference in my skin. It drinks right in without leaving me feeling sticky. I'm left with an overall hydrated and glowing complexion that feels smoother and plump.

KVD Beauty Full Sleeve Long + Defined Tubing Mascara - Retail Value $25

Even though I used to love Kat Von D back in the day, I've never tried her makeup products. The wand is designed to wrap every lash to lengthen and define your lashes. The formula is flake and smudge proof and water resistant.

The wand made my top lashes look long and luscious, but I feel like it was tricky to use on my bottom lashes. It didn't really separate and lengthen, they just sort of clumped together. I did notice during the day that this did flake on my cheeks a bit, which I don't love. I used it about two more times so far and each time I did get some flaking. Not my favorite mascara, but something that I will still keep in my makeup bag to use when I need it.

GXVE Beauty Original Me - Retail Value $26

This matte finish lipstick is absolutely beautiful! It went on really well and has a nice little scent to it. For a matte, this didn't last as long as other matte lipsticks that I have. Once I drank or ate the lipstick was smudged and basically off, which is odd for a matte that I normally have to scrub to get off at the end of the day. I wish I had gotten a lighter shade, this isn't one that I will wear every day, but when the mood is right this is a wonderful lipstick that I will totally reach for!

Verdict

My Spring Ipsy Icon Box curation came in with a retail value of $550.09, wow! Having grown up as a Gwen fan, I was excited to see what products she selected. Overall, I was happy with the value and quality of products, but I felt that there were more misses for me than the winter box. This was filled with a lot of products that I felt just ok about, nothing majorly wrong but nothing that really wowed me. I'm really happy to get the BrightenMD, face wash, and both serums, but other than that everything else was just so so. The value is totally worth it though so if you are a beauty and makeup lover, this is a great box to receive or gift to someone!
