Activity Guide & Stickers
Each monthly box from StoryCaptain comes with an informational card that also serves as an activity guide plus stickers. This month's theme was Let's Dance which featured different types of animals learning how to dance and encouraging little ones to follow along. The activity guide provided ideas for 2 games and 1 craft. The games included Freeze Dance and Follow the Leader Dance whereas the craft required little ones to make an animal mask and wear it while dancing to music that matched the personality of the animal they chose. The sticker sheet came with 20 individual animal stickers. Normally, I would have included a picture of the sticker sheet but my littles got a hold of them as soon as they opened their box, and, well, the rest is history. 🙂
Let's Dance, Little Pookie by Sandra Boynton — Retail Value $5.99
I adore the concept of this book! Basically, the mom is teaching her child how to do what seems like the most fun dance ever. Her newly invented dance requires hopping, marching, reaching, bending, and shaking - all of which my 20-month-old daughter loves to do (and I'm sure her 7-week-old brother will love to do in what seems like a blink of an eye). The book definitely works well for the 0-3 age range as it isn't too complex with respect to the text and length of the book. I'm excited to add this book to my daughter and son's shared library.
Dancing Feet! by Lindsey Craig (Author), Marc Brown (Illustrator) — Retail Value $6.99
Another precious gem in this month's box, this book was all about getting kids to identify the dancing feet of specific animals. From ladybugs to elephants and ducks to caterpillars, this book explores the dancing prowess of what feels like the entire animal kingdom. It was quite a bit longer than the previous book but still used simple text paired with fun images.
ABC Dance!: An Animal Alphabet by Sabrina Moyle (Author), Eunice Moyle (Illustrator) — Retail Value $7.95
When it comes to vibrant imagery and alliteration, this book knocked both aspects out of the park. This book will come in handy for teaching my daughter how to sound out specific words and expand her vocabulary from a young age. It really made the alphabet come alive and was fun to read the whole way through.

Value Breakdown: This subscription costs $24.90 including shipping. The 3 books that we were sent in the 0-3 age range for January retail at $20.93 and the additional cost for stickers probably cost around $2. If you take into consideration the standard price of shipping on Amazon or other suppliers, then the total retail value is slightly higher than what you pay each month. Not to mention, you receive a carefully curated selection of books, and some fun activity prompts!
